Outsiders
I’m watching “Inside: USA”, and feeling like an outsider because I don’t know who any of these people are. I don’t watch Twitch. I don’t know streamers. It’s the same with a lot of things… I don’t know actors, or famous people, or music, or movies, or current events, or politics. I feel like an outsider a lot… Add to that how I’m always too young or too old for my friends, the fact that I always get rejected (or abused) by men… And imagine what my heart feels like.

You are absolutely not the only one. There is no way I know who Bad Bunny is. I do not know any of the new actors, actresses and musicians are. Basically, only know a few of the older ones are. Many I knew are no longer alive. I feel like I am in the dark and out of the loop more often than not. If it isn't an older movie, the chances of me knowing anything about it is quite slim. Don't care to talk politics. Rarely follow the news due to it being so depressing and they constantly repeat the same thing over and over. Once I have heard it I do not want to hear it again. I have not been to a movie theatre in years and honestly do not miss going. I prefer to sit in the comfort of my own home to watch whatever I choose and take a break when I am ready. It is okay for us to be who we are and the way we are. It does not make us less or more, just us.
See this is why we’re friends ;) <3
@jesusredeemedme2425
Agree 100%
Like… I’m the girl who recently read “The Phantom Tollbooth” and got excited about it. Like… I’m a book nerd.
And sometimes I’m ashamed of that.
Like… the Super Bowl. I didn’t know who Bad Bunny was. (Still don’t, really.)
I don’t recognize or can’t picture super well-known actors.
I don’t even follow current events, so I’m always out of the loop. (Never interested me.)
I’ve never seen Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings. I hate Star Wars.
All of this just makes me feel like… I don’t belong. I’m an outsider. Like everyone else understands or knows this stuff, and I don’t.
Does that make me less?
@jesusredeemedme2425
Absolutely not, life would be so boring of everyone likes the same things. I'm a fellow book nerd, I find TV frustrating as I struggle to sit still long enough. I watch it a bit more often since streaming as it can be paused.
Don't let age be a barrier to freindships and there are some genuine males that will feel a connection and friendship with you without any sexual intentions or judgements.
I'm emotionally sensitive, both positive and negative and can hyperfocus and go on at length on topics of interest which has made meaningful friendships few and far between but in particularly value the friendship I do have. I'm friendly with people so initial contact is easy enough it's as you expressed not always having much in common that has made more meaningful deeper friendship quit rare.
From the variety of posts and subsequent interactions you do not strike me as boring, quite the opposite, sone people do enjoy meeting that are a little different.
I'm struggling a little with loneliness at the moment, partly triggered by being more reflective than usual as I'm trying to reshape my fear of the future but it has also made me value what I have to offer more. We are all individuals at the end of the day, 7 Cups has helped me accept that more and appreciate that sharing, being open, honest and vulnerable isn't all bad and that my nature can help others too.
Accept who you are, I certainly appreciate your presence on 7 Cups and value the true connections you do make regardless of age and gender. It's a lesson I wish I'd learnt more years ago, I had times of trying to fit in more than haven't resulted in long term friendships I value, so yea I do have periods of loneliness but at least I've been true too myself, can hold my head up high and I know there will be opportunities for friendship when I meet people that do get me, 7 Cups is helping me see that.
Don’t be I kind of wish, I could forget who these celebrities are and some shows. I didn’t even know until, my sister blasted his music
@jesusredeemedme2425 don't worry. I'm out of the loop too. I get my news from random YouTube commentary I stumble upon or from my boyfriend, don't really care about mainstream things whether it's books, series or other trends, and so faceblind sometimes I think 3 different guys in the movie are the same guy 😂 so you are not alone ❤️
@jesusredeemedme2425
You're not at all one. I like to remind myself that there will always be topics and people I'll never know about. Not everyone will love me but I will forever cherish those who do. I can't make everyone happy but I'll always keep my loved ones close to my heart.

At some point I was trying to conform and blend in with others but after a lot of self reflection I'm proud to be different and celebrate my quirks, sometimes I even poke a lil fun.
If I've never heard of something, I'll just ask questions and say Wow you know a lot about such and such, do you mind if I pick that mammoth brain of yours?
Or other times I'll use Wikipedia and think, ahh ok so that's what it is. I mean we are a curious bunch.
Flip it to your positives, what are you knowledgeable about? What are your favourite topics? I adore your topics, your posts on here really made me feel included and welcome :)
I don't think I would have been as chatty or even had the courage to post my own, without you making it look so easy :)
@ScrabbleBrain
You are great the way you are 💚
I don't ever give a hoot what anyone thinks, if I like something I like it, if I don't, I don't 😂
@Amanda84 and that's why you're my favourite mischief maker, effortless trouble :D

Kiara, don't let any man dictate your worth. Whatever you are interested in is fine, the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same. You are opinionated, and authentic and fun and you've a good sense of morals and humour, that's what matters 💚
@jesusredeemedme2425
hey. pay attention, girl, cause these are the type of discussions that really matter.
you are different.
you will always, always, be different.
and different isnt bad.
you know what's lovely? what's so very lovely and amazing about todays world; its how easily we can connect. love a writer's work? lots of people squealing about em online. saw the latest match? news articles and youtube vids cover the best parts. hear that song? its in, its trendy, everyone likes it, youre normal
At the same time:
Dont like the trends. Hate that famous book, have no interest in that match. And in todays world...you feel it. The disconnect. Girl, you made like three posts about the Super Bowl. I didnt know it was about football until like, today.
If you can forgive me going into a messy, made up metaphor...its like light, waves, radiations of a sort. Theres visible light: what we see, the rosy red, the baby blues, the grassy green and bright yellow. And theres the hidden ones, infra-red, and ultra-violet and cosmic rays and x-rays, and darling these are used to save people's lives or make em notably better but you cant see em, just like you dont see some of us in, say, Super Bowl crowds and Harry Potter fan-clubs.
The point is, all those rays are still rays, still useful, and we are still human. We are still lovely. We are still kind. We are still, believe me, fun and interesting and worth being around.
We are the kind of people who make messy metaphors to try and help each other out. Who feel inadequate sometimes. Who make about a million cultural food posts because we just cant let anyone else be left out.
We are outsiders. To a lot of things. To each other, sometimes. And that doesnt make better or worse than others. It just is.
And you are loved. I think thats an important point to end this long reply on xD
Awww <3 hugs <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 hugs 🫂🤍
You're unique. But I think in our own ways we're all unique. I think that's what pulls us together here and makes us a community. It's that uniqueness that helps us fit in here. Maybe we're not supposed to fit in with the rest of the world. We're the soothers, the helpers, we're the ones that show others the goodness that lies in them. We're the ones that lift other hurting souls, even though we're hurting too. Why? Because we understand what they're going through. The world can be a pretty cruel and cold place at times.
Sometimes I think we get so caught up on the things we aren't that we forget or lose sight of the things we are. I say that knowing that I often feel like an outsider too.
All the things you do for so many makes you so much more. The care and compassion you show for others is amazing. You have such a beautiful heart and soul. One day you will find a good man who will cherish and love you for the wonderful and unique person you are. He'll be a kind and gentle person that treats you with respect.
Sometimes it takes time to get to where we want to be but we do get there. ❤️ You belong here. I know it's not the same with this being only online but it's a connection. And we all love you, online or not, it's still a real thing ❤️
