I’m adding a taglist to start, but this post is open to absolutely everyone! <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 never done that, but I heard some people do. I don't even know tbh if our country offers options to do so, but while I applaud everyone who is participating, I would not dare to risk my safety

I sent letters, it was a rewarding experience, I learnt alot 💜
Just a couple of letters. Guy that I know and grew up with to some extent. It was awkward at the time. He was the kind of person that I figured would just end up back in there, but since he's been out, he's proving me wrong. Which is good. I don't feel like I've really known him for a very long time, but we had some good memories.
@Torean be careful with that guy
For sure
@jesusredeemedme2425 no I'd be to scared
I would not be afraid to go into a prison I don't think, maybe I'm naive. But I have not been aware of this need. What types of books were you thinking of donating?
This is a definite need. I’ve been watching Unlocked (look it up, it’s an absolutely INTRIGUING premise!). I think a lot of the altercations that happen in jail are from sheer boredom and idleness.
Also, I was researching it and came across this page full of letters from prisoners… Check it out! <3

personally, if you are going to go through some type of volunteer service shown, I think that would be the safest way to do it. I know they have sites where people are looking for pen pals and I would err on the side of caution with that. You don’t need all your personal information out there. But in sure you already know that ❤️
@peachthinker I would be more inclined to do something like that with an organization. I don't think being a pen pal to a prisoner would be the best idea if I didn't know the person, but I might be willing to teach minimum security inmates.
@reservedOwl321
true because I was only allowed through the sponsors of my elders

I wrote a male friend of mine while he was in prison, we were very good friends before he went to jail, and remain really close now after he is out. We check in on each other and he said my letters to him were a life saver and showed who really cared for him and who did not. We both still have each others letters and will talk about it when we get together.
@jesusredeemedme2425 Due to my curiosity, I have visited some of our famous prisoners from my city a few times. Mostly light ones. I had experienced only one killer who had killed for a reason so complex he wasn't excicuted d. In this quest, my grades, field, and the referral letters from our community elders really helped(we don't have relived jails)
@jesusredeemedme2425
No. I haven't. But now I'm curious to dive into this experience.
