Should I Stay, or Should I Go?

I came to 7 Cups because I was lonely.

Broken-hearted.

Depressed.

Anxious.

I needed a place to land when everything inside me felt like it was falling apart.

And for the short period that I have been here, this space helped.

It gave me connection when I felt invisible.

It gave me voices when mine was too quiet to speak.

It gave me hope, even if just in small, flickering moments.

But lately, something’s shifted.

When I log in now, I feel overwhelmed.

Like the weight of my own emotions—and the echoes of everyone else’s—start to rise up all at once.

Sometimes all I want to do is sit and cry.

I don’t know if that means I’m healing, or if I’m stuck?

I don’t know if staying here is helping me grow, or keeping me in a place I have been trying to get out of.

Still, I’m grateful.

To the people who listened.

To the ones who shared their stories.

To the quiet kindness that lives in this space.

You helped me feel less alone when I needed it most.

So now I’m just sitting with the question:

Should I stay, or should I go?

All I know is—I want to move forward.

I just don’t know how to carry my trauma without letting it carry me.

@braindamag3

Absolutely stay <3 I understand. 7Cups can be a lot sometimes. Everyone is struggling and sharing. I've been in that spot myself <3

My suggestion is to stay, but spend more time in the "fun" sections. Respond to icebreakers, post your own, check out the cool art, learn about other cultures in Around the World, and keep it light for awhile. It's fun! Get to know people with little emotional overwhelm <3

Compassion fatigue is real. Give your mind and heart a rest for awhile. Trust me... I was there too. It helped a lot. <3

Post like this offer up little in the way of what support Ive been hoping to get or receive.

Nothing against you, you have been supportive in other posts. 😘🤗

Thank you for your reply.

I am so tossed about this, yesterday all I did was poke my head in 7 Cups a couple of times and jot in my journal and look at the replies to this post. The weight in my heart has lifted somewhat which tells me that I need a break maybe not forever as I did with I.G.

I did not come here to play games/icebreakers or be cultural. Or even post up in hobbies because if I did there might be someone here who would recognize my classic car that I work on 😜

I understand how you are feeling. Your goal is beautiful- to move forward, to not be defined by what has happened to you. You will find your way. You aren't alone.

"I carried you on eagles wings and brought you to myself." Exodus 19:4

Thinking of you.

Take care, friend,

Jar.

Thanks for your post, I know I'm not alone and I think that is the biggest thing that bothers me.

PS: I'm an atheist so any kind of religious reference have no meaning 😉😘

@braindamag3

I apologize if my comment was insensitive. It's hard to know what is okay to say here, how honest we are allowed to be.

If I may be so bold to interpret. . . It weighs heavier on you because you are aware of all the loneliness and suffering and watching it here in real time, you feel helpless, knowing already how hard it is because your own is bearing down. Because it is one thing to be alone in your loneliness, but on a grand, indefinable scale, it is unbearable and you seek relief. Like the one drop theory; one drop is just one until it isn't and becomes a tidal wave.
I don't know if there is ever a point where all that becomes easier, mainly because we can't do this, we aren't designed to do this, alone, so generally, I don't believe isolation is the answer; though distancing from it occasionally is healthy because it is important to remember there are still goodnesses and light and wonders too.
That is what I meant, when I said you're not alone - no one is asking you to carry everything everywhere, and I hope it lightens you in some way to know that all it takes are small kindnesses. It is enough to be present and to be kind in the midst of such a vast storm. I just wanted to offer some in my small way.
I hope you find peace and balance and support wherever you go.

Jar.

The important thing is that you reached out to someone. That is always the first step. I’m really bad at doing this myself so we’re kinda similar in that aspect. With that said… Don’t be like me and ignore the help that this community has to offer. It seems like a great opportunity to get some help.

Thanks,

Some members have offered great advice I've the 2 weeks that I have been here. My biggest issues is the fact that I have not one friend that I can confide in.

Was I too quick to judge the slowness of a couple of Listeners? And deleting my reach out to them after 3 days with no response?

I think I will continue to poke my head in but stay away from the trigger posts and groups

Hey. Maybe there doesn't hv to be definitive answer. If currently, you're feeling overwhelmed, pls do take a break. See how it makes you feel. But know that you are not alone. Whenever u need to come back, all u hv to do is open the app again. Even I'd felt a little weird sometime ago for a few months and decided to take a break. When I felt like coming back, that's what I did. Hope you get better. Good luck!

@reservedVase8999

Thanks for that, an honest answer for me to step back and take a break.

I think I will and continue to poke my head in every so often, I do plan to keep my journal going as I don't journal on paper for fear it would be found.

Again, thanks. 👍

@braindamag3 7cups has helped me in times when i just needed to see human presence.. also in times when I wanted in depth talks to understand myself and life a bit better .

That said- ive not been permanent here.

And I don't have the future planned either. Sometimes its just good to be without a plan. Be without pressure of responsibility- thats what I really like. Help when you can. In a way you can. Take help when you can.

So in short - if youre overwhelmed and desire something else for short term or long term - go seek it . If you desire being here again to connect and share - pop in anytime.

Hi @Creamyyy,

Very generous offer,, thank you.

Basically the first 4 or 5 lines in this post and I have tried to describe my issue in my bio.

If you think you can help in any way, that would be great as I think/know I'm stuck. 💔

Where would we chat?

Thank you again

@braindamag3 it sounds like you are having a hard time right now. Is there any chance you were having more fun due to novelty and now that the hype wore off the void returned?

Also, you don't have to make a final decision for either. You can try to come online less or simply put your profile on self-care break if you want. These options should give you a buffer without finality to explore your options and feelings and letting yourself change your mind up and down as you need.

@sadcat13

Thanks for your reply

You might have hit the nail on the head! Maybe the first 7 - 10 days were exploring and checking everything out, from the different communities to the chat rooms.

Sometimes the chat rooms were slow moving, not always inclusive, there were times I felt like I was back in highschool being the odd one standing on the sidelines. Other times the activity in a room would move so fast that my brain couldn't keep up. So I stopped entering the chat rooms.

I'll be heading out for a few days vacation and I will see how I feel after that. I will still do my daily or twice daily brain dump in my journal.

I find that helps me process.

I felt the same way in the chatrooms. Often ignored, and it gave me anxiety with how fast it went :(

You’re grateful for the connections you’ve made here, and that’s beautiful. It takes a lot of courage to acknowledge when things feel overwhelming and to question whether staying is helping or hindering your growth.
