Your "Current" Checkin: If life was like water, what would yours look like right now?
I've been thinking about how we describe our "current" state of mind. Instead of the usual "I'm busy" or "I'm fine," I'd like to try looking through a different lens.
If your life were a river right now, what would it look like?
Maybe you feel like a mountain stream after a storm, moving way too fast and churning up mud so you can’t see the bottom. Or maybe you feel a bit clumsy in your kayak today, struggling to keep your paddle or getting caught on the rocks.
You might be working really hard to reach a specific spot on the bank that looks beautiful from a distance, even though it means paddling against the current to get there. Or perhaps you’ve decided to stop fighting the flow and let the water take you around the next bend to see what surprises are waiting for you.
Close your eyes and imagine it, then type out the description of your current state below!

I feel that my water is the waves of the ocean smacking me. I keep jumping them, diving in, or walking through them to get past. But another one comes along. I can see calm water in the distance and I just want to reach it. Then I can sit, floating and enjoying the calm of the sunshine too.

I hear that <3 It’s exhausting to keep bracing yourself for that next wave when all you want is to just breathe and float for a while. You are doing so much hard work right now just to stay on your feet. Please be gentle with yourself while you navigate this. That calm water is there, and I hope you get to reach it and feel the sun on your face soon.
@Heather225
It's turbulent. I'm a still water body but the water is bubbling from being overheated, making bubbling sounds and rising hot steam out of it.
@toughBlueberry
Sounds like you are carrying a lot of intense, built-up pressure inside right now. That kind of internal heat can feel overwhelming when you’re naturally a calm person! If you're comfortable sharing, do you know what started the temperature rising?
@Heather225
It's been years of suppressed anger. I have done intense exercise and journaling to let the pain out. And it worked. But recently I'm getting bullied almost 24/7 in the family. That's why even though I manage emotions, there are still stored anger. It's hard to let go when I keep getting poked. Also I'm stressed about leaving home.
@Heather225
Thank you for giving me the listening ear, it means a lot <3
@Heather225
Currently a nice easy flow but i know that I am getting every closer to the top of a dam (retirement), maybe Putin might nuke the dam for me 😉
Also, worth noting that of course the current changes (the only constant is change!) so I encourage you to come back and reflect further because it can also be helpful to not only be mindful of our moments but chart our path/progress!
@Heather225
I started with 'Currently' for precisely that reason, no pun intended either ð¤ªð¤ª

@WharfRat
I appreciate the visual! Is a storm coming in for you, or is it something looming?
@Heather225
It's a general creepiness that I feel. I took this picture in June of 2019, at Lake Michigan. I was riding my bike, and the storm clouds moved in. I had to stop and take pictures. I got soaked by the rain by the time I got home.
@WharfRat
Soaked during a bike ride, never happens 🤪🤪
Good job skin is waterproof 😁😁
My water feels like dangerous rapids barreling down the mountain focused in direction but no time to enjoy what is happening on the bank. hurting those looking for thrill’s unprepared for what’s to come. I find myself wishing things would move slower and clearer
@forcefulDay1071
That sounds so fast and overwhelming. It’s hard enough just trying to keep your head above water, let alone worrying about the people on the banks or how fast you're moving. It’s okay to just want everything to stop and clear up. <3 If you’re open to it, is there one small thing you can lean on today to help pull you toward those slower waters?
I don’t have an answer for that question honestly, it just feels like people around me need me to be this way. If I slow down everything crumbles. I have no life lines nor do I have any relief I can trust. Anytime I reach out to get off I’m thrown right back in to this cycle
