What Do You Do?
Seeking some support and comfort again from anonymous people. What do you guys do when your emotions become too heavy to carry? More specifically, any words of advice or comfort from someone dealing with heavy grief.
It doesn’t have to be the death or loss of a loved one, or even a tangible “thing.” For me, it is the loss of a life that I once had, or maybe more closely, a life that I wish I currently had. A loss of connection to the world around me, a loss in pleasure of what I normally enjoy. It is a deep sadness in my heart and also a terrifying pit in my stomach.

I'm sorry for your loss 🩷
I've experienced way too much grief for one lifetime.
There's no right or wrong way to grieve
What works for me is taking it day by day.
Being honest.
And with time, it doesn't become easier but less raw and less intense 🩷

Yeah usually i do reach out. I try self soothing and self havening, positive self talk which rlly is validating and comforting myself, it helps, however if ur emotions do get too high its best to reach out, if a couple tries dont work thats alr, try again later, wish u well 💖 (p.s. i like ur username!)
Grief for things we have lost is important, it's a way to honour them.
Grief is a part of healing (feels weird, but it's true).
I try to remind myself that emotions are signals, they give me information and that they do not determine my identity (if I've been feeling a certain way for a long time, it can feel like it's become part of my identity)
It's all too easy to lose yourself and not know how to get through it. I used to read back parts of my journal where I was feeling stuck and hopeless and what brought me out of it?
Nowadays because I regular voice my feelings out, it's less intense. I need my daily routine and my writing and that keeps me on top of things mostly.
Some days are just hard though and I accept that, at that point, I'll embrace the yucky feelings and know it will pass eventually :)
I can relate to this. I’m going through grief where it’s not a loss of a loved one but a loss of the life I wished I had. And also still processing my job loss even though that was 3 years ago. I’m great full for the job I currently I have but still find myself in a weird place.

Thank you so much for your thoghtful post, it really touched me.
I always believed: "we are all here in this time, this place, to observe, learn and experience. And when our time is over, we return home."
I believe life is nothing but a spiritual journey. Your a soul that was provided a vessel. We are so tiny in size compared to other objects around us, and our existence is a blink of an eye compared to everything els.
I don't believe life was designed to be perfect or happy. I've learned we often grow with challenges. And the ones practicing the highest forms of humanity are usualy the ones who walked the most difficult paths.
Because of grief and other related emotions, we were able to create art and literature, poetry and music. Its in our nature to grieve parting with what feeds our souls.
"Pain never really disappears or goes away. All we can do is learn how to live with it"
Best wishes.

Thank you so much for sharing this. Your beliefs very much align with my own.
I agree that life is never meant to be easy for anyone. A perfect or painless life isn’t possible in this universe because everything needs balance in order to exist. I think that experiencing the depths of grief and pain also makes it possible to experience the heights of joy. It’s the yin and yang of life.
I think that sometimes we need to lean into and listen to those painful emotions because it means that our mind and our body is trying to tell us something. Feeling lost and disconnected from our lives allows us to ask ourselves what we can do to feel more connected. Leaning into those emotions and letting ourselves cry it out or release that energy in other ways clears our mind and gives us space to decide the next right move. Leaning into our artistic and creative side is an amazing way to do that. I find music and art to be incredibly spiritual and healing for myself for that reason.
Although my heart still feels heavy, I try to tell myself that I am where I am in my life right now for a reason, and that better days and opportunities are waiting for me. Your words are incredibly wise and a great reminder for me to be patient and gentle with myself.
