Does this count as someone who could be a sociopath?

A person, who posed as my "Friend" for 8 years, took advantage of my aunt via manipulation so she could climb the success ladder. During the longevity of the relationship, she not only pretended to be my friend but also lied to me about all of her interests. It wasn't until she dumped me that she only revealed to me that

1. She only associated with me because she was lonely but didn't like me

2. She was always pretending to be someone that she wasn't because she was a people pleaser- therefore, she lied to me about who she was as a person and all her interests. Because of that, I associated with a total stranger for 8 years.

3. She lies all the time

4. She has a lack of empathy

5. She seems to enjoy hurting other people

I don't know if she's ever broken the law as I didn't associate with her that long.

@Summershy

I think there are levels ...

1. while many have associated with others they did not exactly like for other reasons perhaps connections or mutual friends...

2. many people embellish who or what they are as they feel uninteresting or something. many have faked interest in items their friend s enjoy too.

3. is harder to quantify as all sorts of levels of lying from the simple i have not gotten to that yet instead of i do not want to do so i am avoiding ........... to big or serious lies many twist the truth

4. lack of empathy is an epidemic IMO as most seem self serving.

5. when you say enjoys hurting others ....... that can be wide open in ways to interpret....

example people said that about me ............ i record training items for a big company and some register for mandatory class yet do not attend but think they think see my name is on roster ...we pull a zoom report as they log in for this and zoom shows they logged in for 3 minutes of an hour class......... i call them OUT and often their supervisor finds out because they told them they attended .... i do enjoy teaching them a valuable lesson on integrity.

so the items you list would need context....... most likely if she admitted to all below she probably has broken laws but again context ......driving over speed limit vs more serious offenses.

@toughTiger6481

She lied to my aunt and used her "Disability" to say she had difficulty connecting with others. She also said she didn't have any money to buy new clothes. So my aunt felt sorry for her and bought them. When I turned around she used those new clothes and then started using them to network with people she also manipulated. It was also through these networks that she met her husband as it was her top priority to get married.

She's also one of those people who likes to get her way all the time but if she doesn't then she hurts other people.

@Summershy

the world is full of Users who do this type of thing get the most out of any friendship or play up a small thing into something but i am not sure one could categorize all that as a sociopath ,,, i fear we try to label things or diagnose something to rationalize how someone could be so selfish

The reason I ask is because she so manipulative and lies all the time. She also tends to hurt other people on an emotional level of she doesn’t get what her way.
