Some Thoughts on Christmas
Hey there
I just realised that I wanted to share some thoughts on Christmas.
Christmas is known as a religious event but also a celebration of love. It is thought to be the time where you come together with your family and friends to enjoy a peaceful evening or maybe even an entire day. That's the image that you get when you look around and watch films or advertisings etc.
But in reality, for a lot of us, Christmas doesn't feel like a relaxed, joyful gathering with your loved ones. Some of us have lost people and on Christmas they are remembered, that they are missing. Some of us live far away from their family and are not able to be with them. Some of us don't celebrate Christmas for religious or other reasons and feel even more excluded during this time. Some of us have illnesses which make it difficult to take part in all those celebrations. Some of us have to experience conflicts or even abuse during this time where all the family members get together. And there are many more reasons which could make Christmas not feel like a pleasant event to you.
And I want to tell you that you are not alone with that.
There are so many people who struggle during this time of the year and who don't experience Christmas like it "should be". And that's okay.
I want to encourage you to take time for yourself right now. Practice self-care. Do something that makes you feel good and loved by yourself. You're not obligated to make anyone happy except for yourself.
Take care.
