I was already familiar with Mindfulness and Gratitude, I just never practiced it daily. 7 cups of tea has helped me practice it and incorporate it daily, I feel a lot better mentally already :). I look forward to doing more mindfulness and to live joyfully through gratitude.
@LadyIves
Yay! It's all about that daily practice and going back to it, right?
Thank you so much for sharing!
i learnt to relax ,focus on the positive and first listen before acting
@Bfree1997
Taking that extra step, that extra beat before reacting and acting is so important. Thank you for sharing! Keep up the good work!
@MsEmma
thank you .this had strained my friendships
@Bfree1997
I was there, too, I totally know how you feel. It's a lot of work, but I can tell you from the other side — you'd get there, it would come so naturally to you eventually! :)
Good luck!
190. Today I learned that people care.
It's not a new concept, but one that's hard for me to accept and believe. Most of the time, when people who don't know me compliment me, or give me encouragement, I think they're being fake, or they're just going through and saying the same thing to everybody. It doesn't feel genuine. But I'm learning that there are actually people in this world who "love everybody" - I'm not one of them but they apparently do exist. It's hard to get used to, to be honest. Especially when you get to be my age and that wasn't the world you grew up in... but maybe it's time I stop thinking that the world wants to hurt me. I've certainly encountered some really bad people in my lifetime on the internet, and it's caused me to become cynical and guarded, but it's also possible that honest, trustworthy, kind-hearted people exist online as well.
@ALifeLessOrdinary
Doesn't matter what age you are, it's such an important lesson :) The lesson that the world is not all bad, that people are not ALL bad, that there is good out there. I love it. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful words. Hope to see more from you soon! :)
@MsEmma
Actually, in my case, age is relevant because I have BPD and have had a life-long pattern of black and white thinking that spans more than 40 years. To that end, I tend to look at people as either having value, or having no value. Those who provide value, I allow close. Those who don't, I shun. Very few fall in the middle. And *because of my age, these patterns are harder to change because this is the way I had to adapt to the world around me in order to survive in it. That's why I specifically said it's hard for me to believe there are people who can genuinely like or "love everybody" because I've never had that ability, nor would I actually wish to acquire it, if I'm being completely honest.
Thanks to this site, I now know I am not alone and I know how to use the mindfulness tools to help me when I need them most.
@FragileFae
Yay, I'm so happy for you!
I learned how to be calm in stressful situations and not be anxious all the time.
@Alwayskeepfighting193
Yay! Now practice practice practice until it's part of you, right? :P Thank you for sharing and for working on your path to happiness and serenity!
I learned that I can't do everything in a day. It takes time to recover.
@Iamapopsicle Yes, Time is sometimes too fast or too slow, but taking one day at a time will help! Thanks for being here :)
All the best,
