@LuneDeOphelia I think it comes from the word Nativity. I have an ancestor that like most people born on this day, was called Natale. Imagine being called Christmas bc you're born on Xmas day. The ones born the day after are more lucky bc they are just called Stefano after Santo Stefano.

In Danish, Christmas is Jul. So we say God Jul! Merry Christmas!
