Taking care of yourself
How did you get yourself to start taking care of yourself again as in things like
Washing your face
Taking off your makeup
Wanting to look better
Wanting to feel better about yourself
For me, psychiatric medication and exercise. I know that's not a very inspiring answer, lol, but if I can force myself to at least break a small sweat, then it makes me want to shower, and that starts a chain reaction of self-care. The medication helps me manage my illness more directly.
Also, reading books instead of just watching TV forces my brain to work more. I've noticed that it helps me with depression brain fog.
How do you get yourself to get up and actually do it?
I combine it with something I enjoy, like watching a film or listening to music. Sometimes I even exercise in bed. It's a matter of building a routine, doesn't even have to be a strict one.
I also use the Finch app, don't know if you've ever heard of it but it has free features that are good for self care.
I also have dogs, and I know that they need me to take them for walks. Taking care of them motivates me, as well.

✨ Taking care of yourself doesn’t always mean grand gestures—it can start with something as simple as washing your face before bed or gently removing your makeup. For a long time, I didn’t see the point. I felt drained, unmotivated, and honestly didn’t think I mattered enough to put in the effort. But over time, I’ve learned that these little rituals aren’t just about appearance—they’re about reminding yourself that you are worth the care. 🌿
🌸 When I began showing up for myself in these small ways, everything started to shift. Washing my face became more than a routine—it was an act of self-respect, a quiet whisper of I deserve to feel fresh and cared for. Taking off my makeup at night wasn’t just a task anymore—it turned into a signal that I was worthy of rest, peace, and renewal.
☁️ None of it happened overnight. It was consistency, patience, and allowing myself to start small. And eventually, I realized it wasn’t just about wanting to look better—it was about wanting to feel better, inside and out. Taking care of my outer self began to gently nurture my inner self too, helping my confidence and self-esteem grow.
🌙 If you’re struggling to begin, start with one simple act. Light a candle, play soft music, wash your face, breathe. Let that be your love letter to yourself for today. Bit by bit, those small choices bloom into real change. You deserve to look in the mirror and feel good about the soul staring back at you. 🌷✨
My messages are always open to you💜

Each day is different for me. Some days I don’t have the energy for makeup, while other days I enjoy it.
Different needs for each day. Right now it’s music, drawing and comfy clothes.
I have been trying a new routine of splashing some cool water on my face, brushing my teeth and drinking a glass of water in the mornings before anything.
I’ve learned these past couple months that it’s not fair to put pressure on yourself regarding all the extras for physical appearance, it creates more stress for me. Listening to my body and showing up for myself is of importance.
