The Self love weekly series Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of our weekly self love series!

So in our last post about self love we spoke to ourselves as if we were our best friends. It was really nice. I challenge you all to practice that till the end of this weekly program.😝

Moving on lets see why self love is important. Five of the most vital reasons that self love is important are the following:

  1. Establishes Healthy Boundaries
  2. Builds Resilience Against Adversity
  3. Improves Relationship Quality
  4. Fosters Mental and Emotional Well being
  5. Drives Personal Growth and Ambition

Lets break them down:

✨️Establishes Healthy Boundaries:

When you value yourself, you recognize your limits and communicate them clearly. This prevents burnout and keeps toxic dynamics from taking over your personal and professional life.

✨️Builds Resilience Against Adversity:

Self-love provides an internal safety net during failure or rejection. Instead of turning to harsh self-criticism, you offer yourself compassion, making it much easier to bounce back from setbacks.

✨️Improves Relationship Quality:

You teach others how to treat you by how you treat yourself. Accepting your own worth reduces insecurity and codependency, allowing you to form deeper, more genuine connections.

✨️Fosters Mental and Emotional Well-being:

Treating yourself with respect directly lowers anxiety and chronic stress. It changes your internal narrative from self-doubt to constructive support, improving your overall mental health.

✨️Drives Personal Growth and Ambition:

Loving yourself isn't about complacency; it’s about recognizing your value enough to invest in your potential. You set goals out of a desire to see yourself thrive rather than a need to prove your worth to others.

So after breaking those down we have a clear view of why self love is important.

I read a great post that I recommend you read to here: https://www.selfloverainbow.com/the-foundations-of-self-love/

Inside it said

"Self-love doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s not Point A to Point B. It is such a personal experience. I can’t tell you how to love yourself. No random person on the internet can. I can give you the tools I use. I can point you in the right direction (we’re all trying to get to the same place right?) but I don’t have the magic formula."

And thats really true. 😊

Question for the comments

  1. Which ones of the 5 core reasons mentioned above you already have?
  2. Which ones do you not have?
  3. Which ones do you want to work on?

Cant wait to see your comments🍃

PS: Give yourself the love you deserve🫂

Amazing post kiwi 🥰✨💖

To answer the question, I don't have any of these, but maybe I'll try. I do realise all that is true, and it is good for me in the long run, but it's not reasonable to show myself love and compassion when everything I'm doing is wrong and I don't deserve to be treated nicely. (I know these are wrong thoughts, but they are kinda settled like an old layer of dust now) 🙁

THanks for your nice words. I understand how hard it can be to dust yourself off and start learning how to unlearn those bad and negative comments and thinking. It takes a lot of time.

You deserve all of the points mentioned above, and you deseve to love yourself. If we dont love ourselves how will we move in life? Its like living with someone you dislike forever. It will not be easy but eventually if you try to unlearn the mindset of "I dont deserve love" and start loving yourself as it is things will get better!

I believe in you and I know you are worthy of everything 🤍

I definitely have the one about personal growth. My self-motivation is really powerful, and that's recent. It used to be more along the lines of proving my worth.

I have all the others too, but not as powerfully as I'd like. If I could improve one, it would be communicating boundaries. I'm overly chill and let people do what they do usually. Beneath that, im used to my boundaries being completely ignored, from all the way back to my childhood. There's a part of me that would rather let someone have the benefit of the doubt than communicate more clearly and have more reason to be disappointed and dislike them if they keep it up.

@Torean

I m glad you have the personal growth and self motivation! Well done!

Also, well done for having all the others too. Its normal to not have them as much as the others or not at the expense we want them to be. With trying and patience anything can happen and you are more than capable.

I understand the boundaries thing. Its really hard to place boundaries but its so essential in our lives isnt it? I believe that its better to disappoint someone or let someone down or make someone else feel angry to protect our peace with our boundaries. When someone sees someone else with boundaries that they keep they immediately see a strong person. Who wouldn't want to be able to keep up their boundaries? Unfortunately its not that easy and I understand this feeling.

Without boundaries though we burn ourselves down, lose our self worth and sometimes withdraw to ourselves and let people use us. I prefer to have lesser friends but love myself and have boundaries than let others use me. Without boundaries also we tend to lose ourselves and change whenever someone wants us to so we can fit it.

You have every right to feel how you feel and i sincerely hope you get to put boundaries in your life and live the life you want.

I also understand the fact that their roots are back to your childhood which makes it even harder to unlearn but i believe in you and you capability🤍

Thank you. I think more than anything, it leaves me with resentment, and I definitely need to work on not feeling more of that than I have to. So, definitely gotta get better with boundaries

tbh I don't really have any of these, I think though that I'd want to work more on trying to not criticize myself so harshly over a mistake or setback. I'm always really harsh on myself for some reason so I think that trying to working on this could be helpful.

@IzzyGamer

Oh I completely understand. Not having any of this makes it harder to keep up self love but you cannot learn them all together. Starting slowly and one by one can be helpfull.

Its really great you want to start with the harsh self-criticism we tend to have. Learning to unlearn how badly we talk to ourselves and starting to talk to us with more love and understanding and care slowly we ll be able to start and love ourselves more.

I believe you can do it. You are capable enough for this and its okay to feel the way you do right now🤍

@IzzyGamer I think the part about harsh self-criticism is one of the hardest ones to change because it often happens automatically. A small mistake turns into a whole list of things you think you did wrong. Trying to speak to yourself the way you would speak to a friend seems like a good place to start. You probably wouldn't tell a friend they don't deserve kindness because they messed up, so we should give ourselves some of that same understanding too.

@sympatheticTiger9470

Yeah thats true to be honest. We tend to make a small mistake and make it seem bigger by adding up stuff to it. But trying to change perspectives and talk to us like a friend changes how we speak to ourselves and I think it develops positive thinking
