Therapy
Hey I don't post often, but I like to read people's comments insights. I'm just an introvert that doesn't like to put my voice out there often, but I am going to therapy for the first time. I'm a 31-year-old woman that has never been to therapy and I just want to know like what your experience and is there anything that like I need to keep my eye out for?
@toughNest8606 Welcome! 🥰 I hope you get many insights here from ppl who've done therapy 🤍 You're not alone, and you truly matter 💖 Sending you lots of love *hugs* 🐾💕

I have done therapy a few pointers
1. make sure you get the right fit. sometimes I had to try a few before finding one I could connect with. It is ok to change providers.
2. know what you are looking for in therapy... learning to deal with things and do not agree to suggestions or ideas that you know will not work in your life. Some sadly try to put their views on a client.
@toughNest8606 thanks for posting!
Therapy is something we need to get used to and it is a bit scary at first so I appreciate you for going ahead for yourself. Usually, a good therapist explains how the whole process will work and if not, you have every right to start by asking them to explain how things will work. Some therapists use survey like tools to further assess how you are doing. At the beginning, the first few sessions will be spent in discussing your concerns and working on selecting which concerns/goals to prioritize. You can look out for trying to be vocal about which ones you want to work on. Therapy often involves work beyond the therapy room and this might look like homework tasks or other reflections. You can ask for more/or less of this too and just try to update your therapist on how things are going.
Likewise, after a few sessions, be honest about how you feel things are working out and as some people have said, sometimes we do need to find another match although I will say that any competent therapist can usually support you well!
Hoping it goes very well
Hi, proud of you for this step! Just pay attention to how you feel and always listen to yourself. Tell your therapist how you feel if you ever feel concerned for any reason, whether or not it’s perceived issues or actual present issues. A true therapist is glad when their client expresses concerns with them. Therapists are therapists because they want to heal. And they can’t help you heal if communication isn’t there. It’ll take some time and effort and some anxiety but you can do it, you got this. May you find someone who makes you feel safe and seen and heard.
