what life look like ✨💕
Dalaa always chose the bed near the window
Every morning the hospital woke her before the sun did
The machines began their quiet beeping and the dialysis machine beside her started doing its work
She would stare through the window and watch people walking outside
Friends laughing together
Families carrying bags of food
Children running beside their parents
And Dalaa would wonder what it felt like to have a normal morning
She was tired of hospitals
Tired of needles
Tired of pretending she was okay when someone asked her
Are you feeling better today
She always smiled and said yes
But when everyone left
the smile disappeared
At night the room became quiet
Too quiet
Dalaa would turn toward the window and whisper to herself
I wish someone would stay
Not because they felt sorry for her
Not because they had to
Just because they wanted to
One night she watched the moon shining through the glass
Her eyes filled with tears
She placed her hand against the cold window and whispered
Maybe tomorrow will hurt a little less
The machine continued to hum beside her
And for the first time that night
Dalaa let herself cry
Not because she had given up
But because somewhere deep inside
there was still a tiny part of her hoping that one day
someone would sit beside her
hold her hand
and remind her that she was more than her illness
She was Dalaa
And she was still here

You absolutely matter.

@Dalaa21 (sits with you and offers a hand) You are definitely more than your illness. I'm glad you're still here! 💜

Dear Dalaa
Your heart has been heard. The longing for connection, the hum of the dialysis machine, and the unmistakable strength-none of it goes unseen.
It is truly a painful thing to see people living and to wonder where Ur turn to live, truly live will come. And believe me when I say this, I really do know know what it feels like to yarn for human connection. To yarn for someone who truly stays. To long for a safe, warm embrace. Our circumstances may be different, but I truly know what it feels like.
But despite all of that, I do not see despair. I see the strength to endure. Strength is not about smiling always. It's about not losing hope in our dark days. And that longing u feel? That means that U r a HUMAN. A human who has not lost hope.
Dark days will pass. Even when it feels like it completely fills the world. Even when it feels like there's not even a sliver of light and warmth left. Remember, with hardship comes ease.
When the days feel long and the loneliness lingers, remember that your life carries deep, irreplaceable value. As Viktor Frankl reflected in Man's Search for Meaning, even in the most difficult and restricted circumstances, human beings retain the profound freedom to choose their inner attitude and hold fast to purpose. Your story is still being written, and your existence holds beauty and significance, much like the enduring ivy leaf in O. Henry’s The Last Leaf—a reminder that hope can cling fiercely to life even through the coldest nights.
U r not defined by Ur illness. U r Dalaa. Standing firm in Ur own story. Waiting for the bright days ahead.

@Dalaa21
I see dalaa watching out the window
I see dalaa being strong
I see dalaa lonely
Hurting and all alone
I see strength
And fight
And courage
The silent tears, the burning heartache, the longing, the quiet "I'm good" when not, the courageous smile, the thoughtful nod, the silent whispers in the dark.
Dalaa is strong and is a fighter
Dalaa doesn't give up
Dalaa doesn't know it but inspires others to take courage and be fighters too.
