I am starting it!

New year—a new chapter, new verse, or just the same old story? Ultimately we write it. The choice is ours. ✨📚🔁💫

Happiness be with you this coming year, 😊

And may all your problems just disappear. 🌟

Passion be with you as your guiding light, 🔥

Pushing you to reach ever greater height. 🚀

You be kind in the new year, to help those in need, 🤝

No place in your heart for cruelty or greed. ❌💔

Empathy and kindness be your calling card, 🌈

When there is a call for help, may you work hard. 💪

"No matter how hard the past, you can always begin again." - Buddha 🌅✨🌈

A resolution made with cheer, 🎉

To start the New Year without fear. 😌

“I’ll exercise and eat quite right, 💪🥦

Sleep early, bid late nights goodnight.” 😴🌙

Said with hope, if not sincere. 🤞😅

Brush away old heartaches. 💔

Learn from our mistakes. 💡

Another year is finally over. 📅

A new dawn awakes. 🌅

Here’s to the New Year, may it bring, 🎉🎊
Joy, peace, love, and a reason to sing. 🌟🕊️❤️🎶

With a new beginning and fresh start,
Full of inspiration and positive thoughts,
Let's begin this year with an optimistic thought.

In this new year,
Let's talk more, chat less.
Let's call more, text less.
Let's meet more, Skype less.
Let's travel more, collect less.
Let's care more, ignore less.
Let's do more, gossip less.
Let's praise more, blame less.
Let's share more, accumulate less.
Let's experience more, fear less.
Let's love more, hate less.

With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts. - Eleanor Roosevelt

Some Fun Bonus Questions:

Where do you find inspiration?
How would you change your life today if the average life expectancy was 400 years?
What skill do you think everyone should have?
What is something you are great at cooking?
Would you rather be the funniest or smartest person in the room?
What would you like to do when you retire?
How has your taste in music changed in the past 10 years?

Peace is the most important thing to me

much better than whats under the tree.

Love and family are everything to me

much better than looking great for what people see.

Kindness and helping people is special for me

much better than moaning and gossiping over tea.

Keeping my mind active is crucial to me

Better than overthinking and anxiety.

@Fristo

Where do you find inspiration?
Random places honestly. I'll be in the kitchen washing dishes and a great idea just spawns out of nowhere.

How would you change your life today if the average life expectancy was 400 years?
I wouldn't stress so much about school anymore and I feel like I would be more open to adventure.

What skills do you think everyone should have?
Skills people should have, I'm not sure. Critical thinking skills?🤷

What is something you are great at cooking?
I think my Ratatouille is one of my signature dishes to make.

Would you rather be the funniest or smartest person in the room?
Probably the smartest, but the question remains in what regard? Like overall smart or is this like book smart vs street smart kind of thing? Either way in life-and-death situations I'd rather be the smart one because it's usually the funny one that dies first in horror movies.

What would you like to do when you retire?
Spoil my kids and or grandkids as much as possible. Teach them all the lessons life taught me in hopes they don't get caught up in the same traps I did. Tell my family how much I love them and try to visit them as much as possible. (Why does it sound like I'm dying or something, it's just retirement XD)

How has your taste in music changed in the past 10 years?
I never really listened to music growing up and I stopped listening to music last year. So......nothing really changed.

The shadows lurk, but my fire is lit

Shining brightly keeping them away

The powerful winds of the new year blows

My once warm fire is now freezing cold

No light to see and no fire to back

My heart and mind are now under attack

The voices of the shadows echo throughout

And that's when I heard the miraculous sound

Of a fire being relit in this dark place

A small light ignited not so far away

I scramble to this small flame holding it tight

While the shadows laugh at such a weak light

Despite its small size the fire keeps burning through the night

Keeping me warm and keeping me safe

And keeping the voices of the shadows at bay

The new year is coming and I lost my big fire

Yet I still have this hope, this drive, this desire

It may be small but it's not weak

And I'll hold onto it for as long as I can

Fighting for myself, for what I deserve and believe

To be the person I know I am destined to be

Clay Slate

To shed the husk of yesteryear,
And to wipe the slate clean for today,
Unlearn the lessons we held so dear,
Resculpt the future with ochre clay;

To chisel my story on a blank slate,
Inscribed on it like exquisite art,
Rewriting the tale to illustrate,
Heeding my soul call seated in my heart;

To connect the dots as I leave behind,
Anchor my sprawled roots as I remember,
Not forgetting when it springs to mind,
Nostalgic memories etched together;

As I lay a path down for tomorrow,
And forge ahead to brave the unknown,
Leaving my fate behind in the borough,
Walking the rite of passage all alone;

Nobody knows what tomorrow may hold,
Neither engraved nor chiseled on stone,
To surrender and let destiny unfold,
Ambivalently outside my comfort zone;

Endings needlessly mean goodbye,
But a premiere planned for the hopeful soul,
To start afresh with a chance to try,
Knowing fate lies beyond our control;

A haiku for the new year:

2024:
Head pain, ears ring, sitting down
...new year, same old sh*t.

@Tinywhisper11 😆 Hey, at least I'm honest!...

You're chronic too, dear. You know how it is! You could be in the middle of New Orleans during Christmas or Carnivál, & everyone could be partying their a*ses off...but if you're hurting then you won't give a flying fart in a windstorm about anything else. Makes no difference what day it is or where you are.

Also, I'm great at making basic pasta sauce. Been making it at home for almost two decades now...the few times I've shared it with others, I heard one recommendation & no complaints whatsoever. Sometimes I'm good at omelettes, too.

Wondering if I should start baking bread again...it's a lot of work but the bread is better than the mass-produced stuff on the shelves, & it keeps well in the freezer.
