In recent years and especially with recent events self-care is becoming more popular and looked into, with that came inspiration to create this post!

What is wellbeing?

To understand how self-care impacts wellbeing we must first define wellbeing . In its simplest definition definition it is the state of being comfortable, healthy and happy. However how people maintain their wellbeing varies greatly, it itself is subjective. For some wellness looks like a meaty diet, extreme fitness and exhilarating hobbies, where for others it's veggie dishes, relaxing and calling friends. But however we see our ideal of wellness one thing is universal and this is the basic basic steps to reach and maintain it such as adequate sleep, balanced meals and fulfilling hobbies. This is exactly where the idea of care and self regulation fits in.

Self care:

Self-care itself is the practice of taking action, whether mindset or physical actions, to preserve one's own health. Oftentimes we don't see what a large role self-care takes in our own lives, overlooking the action it takes when we wake up early, balance work or even brush our teeth, it is what keeps us functioning without others constant intervention, though the label has made significant rise is use in recent years being put it the spot light. Given this it is being now widely explored and marketed giving more opportunity to look at it for more use in our own lives to create improvement.

So how does it link?

Considering the definitions of both terms it's understandable they intertwine. How exactly though? Now that's quite a good question :) To better understand how self-care affects wellbeing I'll put it in the context of if we did not take care of ourselves. If we didn't we would not be healthy or particularly happy as we likely wouldn't of cared about our wellbeing to keep clean, eat well, do things we enjoy or balance well. But is that really self-care or just doing what we're supposed to or even just reassuring those who care about us? Whatever the motivation to take care, what separates healthy routine from self-care is conscious action, deciding on a behaviour or action to benefit ourselves out of care for ourselves.

What's the point?

Though, arguably, you may function on a lack of self-care, it holds significant importance in regulating positive habits and happiness through often priority. This being important for functioning well . So caring about what makes you happy, healthy and comfortable and acting upon that, with balance, is essentially the entire point. Meaning having little baths, eating your favourite snacks sometimes, giving yourself time to cry it out, reminding yourself to finish that project and remembering to have breakfast are all essential parts to keeping yourself well.

~You are worth self-care and self-compassion. It can be difficult to always maintain a great level of self-care.

@KatieTheBigRockOne Thanks for tag Katie! My 3 favorite self care habits are to get a good amount of rest/sleep, treating myself to delcious food, taking time out of my day to do something fun like drawing. Some self care habits I would like to improve is my thinking that I always need to be working or doing something productive. It's okay to not be always working and I should improve on that. I am extremely grateful for my friends, family and my dog that has been always there for me through the thick and thin!

@KatieTheBigRockOne Thank you for delivering the importance of self-care with such a nice post Katie heart

1.)What are your favourite 3 self-care habits?

- I like getting some sun. It is said that taking in some sunlight, especially during early hours can really lift your spirits and prepare you for a better day ahead. The sun is a natural gift to us and utilising it is important to me. I also like writing poetry from ideas collected from my journal entries because they give me a sense of meaning and help me reach the hearts of others who can relate with my poetry. I also practise dancing (A recent addition xD) as it helps me stay fit and active during days when I don't go out much.

2.)What are some self care habits you'd like to improve or take up?

- This is really simple but I would like to develop the habit of drinking more water and I am currently working on it. I would also like to switch from a night owl to an early bird because it's just nice to willingly be able to wake up early in the morning and make the most of the daytime ^-^

3.)What are 3 things you are grateful for today?

- My friends. My family. My guitar.

I'm tagging @alphav7 , @ouiCherie and @JoeyTribbbiani because you guys are such inspiring sunshines! heart

@ouiCherie I'm grateful of this reply it was pretty awesome to hear, those are some good self care habits, it's the first to hear showering but i agree it not only makes you physically clean but gives you an opportunity to think and privately relax with no disturbances.

Improving those things do help, it can be hard keeping on top with the world currently and being stuck inside without as much routine can be an obstacle, i wish you luck improving them! ☺️

Also glad to hear you're feeling better from that stomach illness 💙

@DaisyDaph Thankyou sincerely for this lovely addition and such lovely tags! I really enjoyed reading the depth in your post, the sun ☀ truly can be a natural relaxant to us, giving us warmth and liveliness. Poetry is a beautiful thing i agree, it connects us with lovely words and dancing!! Have to admit dancing is a wonderful activity to do i enjoy it myself sometimes it's definitely a fun way to exercise too.

Improving hydration is a really good goal as it helps with overall health, i can relate to the night owl part 😅... Something about it is just so appealing but waking up earlier can mean more productivity

Thankyou 💙
