@countrygirl9988

Grief is different for everyone and i have seen some of your posts but was unsure how to respond as your grief seems all consuming.... Anything people say while trying to help ....cannot stop those feelings.

It is a major adjustment to lose a parent ....we all think of things in our lives  we wish  they could see or talk to them about.  i have watched a sibling make bad choices and have issues and blame it on grief and that life would be perfect if only  dad was alive ........ i could not help them  through it because they were not ready now it has been decades ....

Time does help.... talking about it can help..... but others are often shy to talk because they do not want to offend you .....as many may slowly let go of the pain you have talked about still holding on to.

@countrygirl9988

I do understand my dad was died in a horrific accident in front of me at a young age ....

it is devastating and we can question why and miss them so much but we are not living but shutting ourselves down and most parents would not like  us to stop living.... we can make them a part and share with many the person he was but shutting down will not fix this.

@countrygirl9988 It will take you time. Your dad was a big part of your life. And you loved him very much. Your family was probably really close and every day there is something that will remind you of his not being there. I'm afraid it's going to hurt for a while. Even then there will be moments that losing him will hit hard. Father's day and holiday's. Birthdays. And other special occasions. There's no time line for grief and it doesn't go it any set direction. The pain might never fully go away. There will always be that ache of missing him. His passing was so sudden and you never had the chance to say goodbye to him and tell him all the things you may have wanted to. To tell him you loved him. I'm sorry you're still hurting so. To me it makes sense because it really hasn't been all that long that he's passed and everyone grieves differently. I am sorry that your family isn't much help but I hope that they're at least understanding of what you're feeling

@countrygirl9988 I was with my father too when he died. They're images I can't seem to get out of my head now. Everytime I close my eyes I see how he looked that last time. So I definitely understand what you mean

It must be hard for the younger family members. They probably understand but maybe not fully?
It really will just take time. It was a traumatic experience for you and those last moments will probably stick with you for a while

I was thinking have you thought about maybe having a celebration of life? Instead of mourning his passing you would celebrate his life. You could share stories of him that made you happy and the way he brought happiness to you and the others of your family. It might be bittersweet but it would help preserve his memory and maybe it would help you feel alittle better. You have to do what feels right to you though. If you or someone you know can sew you could have memory bears made from his favorite shirts. Maybe something like that would bring you some comfort. It does my dad's GF

It's hard to lose a parent. And everyone grieves in their own way. Some people grieve more quietly and alone - sometimes because they're trying to be strong for other people. It's ok that you cry for him. From what I understand the first six months are the hardest but it can take up to 2 years. You really do need to be patient with yourself

i really hope that you keep talking about it.  Losing a parent is a significant loss and unfortunately nothing anyone says is going to make your grief go away.  It took me 10 years to not be consumed with the grief over losing my daughter.  It has only been a few months and it sounds like you are expecting a lot of yourself to just “get over it.”   Grief doesn’t work that way.  It’s not a linear journey.  There are going to be ups and downs and twists and turns.  And all of that is part of the healing process and is ok.  For me, on the better days, I enjoy the reprieve from my sadness, and on the bad days, I have to have compassion for myself.

You are welcome to reach out to me anytime.  I don’t have all the answers and I can’t make your pain go away, but I can be there with an understanding and empathetic ear.  Unless someone has experienced such a significant loss, they can’t possibly understand.  I hate that I understand grief more than I would like to.

I’m so sorry to hear your loss of your father. I know it can’t be easy for anyone experiencing a loss of someone so dear to your heart. I just recently experienced the loss of my mother yesterday and last year my brother died. My mother’s birthday will be tomorrow. I am so sad as she is such a god fearing woman and I felt that she died too soon. I still don’t believe she is gone. My grandson is taking it very hard and trying to understand why she was gone so soon. He still calls her phone to listen to her voice on the answering machine. I have my moments of remembering her kindness and gentleness and the time we spent together. I have to be strong so that I can support my grandson and my daughter through this difficult time. The pain will get better as your heart will heal. Also I am new on this platform and I find it very helpful as there are many areas that you can navigate in seeking support on this site. I am still exploring this site and learning my way around. As a newbie this site is user friendly with lots of compassionate folks. It takes time to get over a love one who means so much to you. I know that it will take sometime for me with my mothers death and my brothers death. I know they both will always be in my heart. Just like your dad he will always be with you in your heart.
