Self care activities!
Hi everyone, lets put together a list of all the self care activities that can help someone who are in the process of grieving. Typically this can come at a later point when you are trying to return to everyday life and need ways to take care of yourself.
@Hope I am not an expert, but I share my personal list of self-care that I feel helps more or less:
- Open up to somebody, it is okay to get support and/or help
- Take a lot of rest
- A nice hot long shower or bath every day
- Go to the nature
- Try to sleep
- Take care of yourself, eat and drink properly, nourish yourself - even when it feels that you do not want to
- Grief takes a lot of time, do not push yourself into feeling happy or fake like you are okay
- It is okay not to be okay
- It is okay to cry
@mish3l well said ❤❤ hugs you ❤
@Tinywhisper11 thanks, I'm sending hugs too if okay ❤️🫂
@Hope Some things that really helped me were hanging out with my friends and other people I love in my life. Taking time to do 'nothing' or participating in hobbies you love was also very relaxing for me.
@Clarezg huggs you ❤❤ that's the best self care advice you can possibly give ❤❤
@Hope write a letter to them or a poem.
Have a special place, like in the garden or a park, dedicate this place to them. And just go sit, maybe talk to them or God, and watch the birds fly.
celebrate their birthdays, anniversaries etc. Do something nice, like a party or little day trip. And try to remember the good times
@Tinywhisper agreed, writing a letter helped me a bit too after some time and saying goodbye in any way that you're comfortable with. For me it was lighting a candle, sending a flying lantern. Def remembering good times.
Anniversaries and birthdays do the opposite thing for me.
Hugs if okay Tiny ❤️🫂
@mish3l hugs you back ❤ for my sons last birthday I wrote a poem, put it in a balloon and let it float up to heaven ❤
@Tinywhisper11 beautiful ❤️
I really enjoy a hot shower, taking a walk, talking to a friend over the phone, being with friends or family
Sleep and try to forget it
Is it even possible?
Sending hugs CAT so that whatever you're dealing with gets easier on you ❤️ @CATastrophizing
Not sure if it is possible to forget.
Thanks for the hugs!
Sleep and try to forget it
I feel depressed 😫💔
I can't do things the same anymore because he is no longer here
I'm the kind of person who isolates myself and overindulge in fiction when grieving. Typically they made my grieving worse. As unpalateable as it seems at first, socializing with other people may actually alleviate grieving well.
I’ve been taking some time for myself and doing. Teething exercises because I’ve lost so much it gets overwhelming
Breathing exercises* 🙄
