User Profile: Heather225

Congrats to making it to the end of Week 3! Here are the questions we asked:

  • On a scale of 1-10, how do you feel you did this week?

Whether you hit every mark or had to pivot, your presence here is a win! Please share:

  • 1 Win: A moment where you successfully prioritized your wellness this week.
  • 1 Adjustment: Based on how this week went, is there a SMART goal you need to tweak to make it more achievable for Week 4?

Optional challenge! Look at the self-care activities shared by the group in the toolkit thread:

https://www.7cups.com/forum/groupmod/7CupsHuddles_2394/WellnessAccountabilityHuddleShareYourSelfCareToolkit_376452/

  • Challenge yourself to pick one activity mentioned by someone else and commit to trying it out this weekend. Please also add your own tools to the thread!

➡ Remember to check in with the group every day (or as often as you can) to share a progress update and be sure to interact with each other, as we are much more likely to be accountable as a group! Let's support each other!

@Heather225

I missed seeing everyone at the usual time with my medical appointment today.

This week? A 9. I don't really have any more goals of daily life things I want to be able to do again as I'm doing my usual things.

There's still strengthening, being able to lift certain weights, plank from my wrist type of things. So still things to work on, but it's nice to not be limited with typical things at home.

I'm keeping up well with PT exercises, even on days where I'm fatigued. It would have been nice to have gotten in a few more exercises, but I haven’t missed a day this week, so that's better than I planned. I'll see my physiotherapist on Monday, after our next session. It will be good to get some new exercises as my strength has definitely improved.

I think in terms of my work life it would be an 8/10.

In terms of my personal life it's more like a 6/10. Some someone with ADHD, I've been having huge struggles with my executive dysfunction despite medication. This has made completing housework and getting back with friends especially difficult But, I've been able to at least complete little bits of the tasks I need to do throughout the day, even if the task is not all the way complete (for instance, washing only the plates in the sink during a specific time, instead of tackling the entire sink of dirty dishes).

I suppose a form of self-care I could do would be to examine my environment (like my apartment) and see if there is something I could move/get rid of that would make my mind more motivated to do chores/other needed task. It has been said that a chaotic environment can lead to a more chaotic mind.

Anyway, those are my thoughts! :) I've honestly been trying to think of some good goals to share with you all, but haven't thought of any concrete ones aside from getting better at chores haha. Lately I've just been trying to make it through the days without completely burning out.

I would say 9/10.

1 Win - Lots of meditation and self care activities

1 Adjustment - I want to find more time to just be and flow. And spending more time on studies.

@floatingLeaf4973

I had a challenging week with facing rejection. I had to take care of myself a lot by trying to do meditation and other affirmations to make me feel like I'm worthy. Thank you.

@floatingLeaf4973 I'm glad you were able to keep up the self-care despite the rejection. It's not an easy thing to do!

Thank you so much Affy! Your support means so much to me! I keep the messages and read them later, especially when I feel unworthy. ❤️💕🙏

@Heather225
my average is 6!

Win: half week I give it a 9 because I managed to find a better way with the calendar to track all my process and feel better about it, also I introduced a self-care habit of self-relaxation massage and I'm also getting closer to some of the new local peers and some old golden friends, I open up about my problematic situation of the past years for the first time with them and I got some good suggestions: how to recap my written work each time I feel lost, what to do to sleep better. As a result I managed to restart with my thesis.
I'm also starting to handle my boundaries better with family...having that on my calendar as something I need to remember every day is important for me to visualize it! I understood this about what I'm doing, I need something as a visual reminder, easy to spot to make it into a habit, a technic used by monks to remember a new practice of meditation.
I cracked my sleeping routine and schedule - I started to explore my focus routine - I listened to my sick body and actually rested instead of forcing myself... so I didn't let it become worse and turn into a flu.

adjustment:  I give it a 3: I could have done more thesis if I hadn't...

- lost too many hours napping because of bad sleep from not giving myself enough time to fall asleep and wake-up all because I wanted to fit the Health Apps ideal time goal, I managed to adjust the time and all the alarms and lights I use to wake up and fall asleep. CONTINUE WITH IMPROVED NIGHT_WAKING ROUTINE

- I struggle with a different kind of boundary, this time is my own, the boundary of TIME... I have a watch with alarms, I need to respect it, I need to manage better my time and not let leasure take over work-time, especially online, I wasted so many hours discussing politics with a girl who was just a wall repeating the same thing as if I never added nothing to conversation like facts or important point. Lost all this evening doing that with no results.
For this I adjusted my Not Disturb setting on the phone, to block messages after a certain hour because I know myself, I can't resist not to respond. Also I need to improve my Focus Routine, I found the right music and the meditation for the morning, I must do the same for the afternoon.
BLOCKED DISTRACTIONS, RESPECT TIME CONSTRAINS, IMPROVE ON FOCUS TECHNIQUES!!!

- my back is hurting, this is also a reason for my distraction other than being a bit sick and lacking proper sleep. I need to get back on track with my exercises now that I'm not sick anymore....because of this I'll pick the tool... BACK EXERCISES!!!!

Self-care tool: of walking mindfully like stormie used to do in nature + atmospheric music in specific Zen music ... BE BETTER AT MINDFUL WALKS, DO A NIGHT WALK at least once a week, I miss them...
... I used to do them...
I need to stand on my ground against the paranoid old "car people" mentality at dance class and not let them push me around... if I like walking, I like walking... if they can't comprehend this, is their problem, I must protect the luxury of living in a safe country, especially coming from South Africa, I know exactly the difference between true danger and just paranoia. One of the reason South Africa is the way it is, is also because of Paranoia pushing everyone to live in isolated island and actaully giving more space and freedom to crime to prosper.

@Heather225 On Friday, 3/6, a huge win was going to a resource fair for work and being able to network with new people. My adjustment was getting use to a boss venting to me on 3/7, I wasn't expecting my boss to open up on those levels so I did have to adjust.
