Depression Support Room Changes
Hey everyone!
I wanted to announce a couple of badge lock changes that will take place shortly for the adult Depression rooms.
Currently, Depression Support 1 is badge locked to various badges tied to the number of messages sent in group support chat rooms. We had to temporarily badge lock this room due to ongoing problems, however now feels like the right time to lift this lock. The existing badge lock will be removed to enable newer users to access the room for support. Right now, only Depression Support 2 is visible to newcomers, which doesn't make a bunch of sense and it was never intended to be this way long term.
On the flip side, the Depression Community room is currently open to anyone, however the intention for this room was always that it would be a special space for long-term/regular users in the Depression Support community to connect and chat in a more lighthearted way than the support rooms are intended for. New users have reported being made to feel uncomfortable and confused by conversations in the Depression Community room, and found they were unable to find the support they needed. To rectify this, the Depression Community room will be badge locked to various message-based badges (listed below) to ensure regular users have their space and new users can access support directly in the Depression Support rooms.
Note: The rooms are actually already set up this way in the LGBTQ+ community (support room open to everyone, community room open to only those with certain badges). The changes to the Depression rooms will run parallel to this.
TL;DR
Depression Support 1 will have the current badge lock removed and once again be open to new users. The regular support sessions will happen in the Depression Support 1 again.
Depression Community will be unlocked to the following badges:
- Supportive Smile
- Friendly Face
- Helping Hand'
- Wise One

Great idea! Many go there for support and are ignored and sometimes even insulted so badge locking it will be good for those who need genuine support.

@Heather if you badge lock DCR to all those listed no members will have access to the room
@mutter3 - They should do! I know people have been chatting in there since it was locked. To be clear, all those with the badge do get access, not vice versa.
