Kate October 7th, 2017

Good Morning (here on the East Coast) 7 Cups Family!

I'm loving getting to know you all and a HUGE thanks to all of you who came to the meet & greets yesterday.

To help me prioritize and get an idea on how you all are feeling, I would love some feedback regarding the Group Support Rooms:

1) What are some of the things you love about the rooms?

2) Where do you think they can be improved?

3) How do you feel about Group Discussions? More? Less? Ideas for topics you'd like to see covered?

All feedback welcome!

1.Being able to socialize and make new friends.

2. We should be able to select a time zone in our settings so that the time stamp is right! This includes 1 on 1 as well but whenever Im on their its like what?! So and so left a message at 1:00am?! How long ago was that?q

3. Like I said, discussions should be in different time zones! I can never make it to any of them because its too early! Also Id love more anxiety chats, as a lot of people have anxiety, and also more fun ice breaker discussions!

Thanks and congrats on your new role!

@RooDailies what time in what time zone would you like chats? :O

i know we have some anxiety chats running at 5 AM EST, noonish EST, several from 7-8 PM EST... are you looking for ones around midnight EST? xP'

did you need them in the other direction?

but, yes, we definitely need time stamps to be proper for support sessions *ruffles your hair* ^____^! <3

@bunnypants

Discussions around 11-12 pm est time are the only ones I can make it to. I am two hours ahead of EST.

What im saying in the time stamp is not in my time zone, so I get confused on when a message was sent.

@RooDailies these seem to be the relevant discussions around that time...

Sunday 12-1PM: mindfulness support session in the mindfullness room [teens]
Weds 1-2PM: anxiety support in teen anxiety support room
Sat 11-12AM: student support session [teens]

i'm afraid if there's only one specific hour you're ever available, it's going to be hard to find discussions regardless of your time zone, yeah? :\'

but we should def. do a better job of tracking who wants a discussion when D:'

@bunnypants

I dont think you understand. In my time zone, ALL of those are during the school day. I think people should make more of an effort to make it so EVERYONE has an opportunity to participate!

@lovelyllama13 the only thing i have to say about any of this (m forum bun) is that scheduling and notifications of group support sessions need to be greatly improved. this is something that is already being considered as part of larger site updates so no werries. <3

also remind me to give you advice about group chats ._.'

@lovelyllama13

1) What are some of the things you love about the rooms?

There are amazing people in the rooms, o.k. they all have their individual daily challenges, but regardless they are there to say 'Hi', lift your spirits, share a chat, share laughs etc and there is an understanding on how you might be feeling,

2) Where do you think they can be improved?

a) There are individuals who have multiple accounts - you could be in the chat room with 5 people and 5 might be 1 individual;

b) the site has Rules they are regularly flouted by the same individuals; If the site is going to have Rules, then there needs to be sanctions that work against individuals who breach the Rules;

c) the technology should be there to request a Mod to a chatroom , site users shouldn't have to go from one chat room to another to look for a Mod;

d) All posts should be numbered for ease of reference; because the way the chatrooms have been set up, i.e. only the last 20 posts can be seen, that does encourage bad behavior; Mod's called to moderate bad behavior can't see the bad behavior; Mods say exactly that; then we wonder why the Rules aren't being adhered too; regards 'muting' the bad behavior just carry's on and doesn't deal with the issue;

e) In almost every walk of life i.e. organization, team sports, factory etc, everyone has a role; in a company you have a marketing department, sales department etc; I know why the site thinks listeners make suitable Mods but it goes against the grain;

f) there are Mods getting 'ruthlessly' bullied in chatrooms by groups of users on the site; because nothing is done you hear things like 'I like this Mod', 'I don't like that Mod' etc; bullying a Mod should carry a sanction;

3) How do you feel about Group Discussions? More? Less? Ideas for topics you'd like to see covered?

The Group Discussions are good. The topics are o.k.

Thank you for listening.

@rebel11 I can't answer the other points but I want to let you know there is a mod request form linked in the chat room rules in every room.

:)

@kindSoul10

Thank you kindsoul10, I was aware of the form and have used it occasionally, until I figured out it was unrealistic. If the request is to do with postings that break site Rules; by the time the form is filled and the Mod has arrived; the 20 message visibility to the newly arrived Mod has kicked in, they can not act due to the lack of evidence.

@rebel11 I like the idea of flagging messages.

I like the rooms as a way to connect with others dealing with similar things, seeing what has helped them and just not feeling alone in general with an issue.

I like the group support discussions! I would like to see more of them. I've given suggestions about topics based on the room in the past. I do think some time periods are lacking in them.

Something I wonder about some of the discussions.is a bit of a split between those dealing with the topic and those who do not. Sometimes this happens with something that is very much supposed to be a support chat and listeners come in and answer for others. With other topics it's more built in with the questions. It becomes a bit of 'us and them' or discussing people like something to be studied. I have done it myself to an extent too, and I would like to see how others feel about it. In some cases I think there needs to be a clearer distinction between and awareness topic or helping others and a support based topic.

As an example - "What symptoms do you experience" Answer - 'They experience ...

I think in some cases awareness type of topics can really benefit from those who have personal experience, maybe asking if anyone who has experience is a good way to include that for those types of discussions?

I would like to see more being done when it comes to those with multiple accounts, I see some of the same people over and over again and it takes a long time before anything changes.

The form to bring an issue to a moderator is not consistent, many times when it's filled out no one comes.

I think it would also be beneficial if comments could be flagged so they are seen. Like if it would bring up that message when a moderator comes in. I have seen it where someone has said many hurtful things, people get upset and react instead of mute and the moderator comes in and starts giving warnings or mutes to those who were hurt whereas the person who was behaving badly isn't noticed for what they did.

1) What are some of the things you love about the rooms?

The ability to chat with both members and listeners in a peaceful enviroment.

2) Where do you think they can be improved?

I would love to see a rule added about using excessive caps in a row, because I've seen people get upset/stressed out when multiple use of caps is going on.

3) How do you feel about Group Discussions? More? Less? Ideas for topics you'd like to see covered?

I love them! I like they way they are right now, but I wouldn't complain if there were more. It encourages more chatting!

1) What are some of the things you love about the rooms?

Not feeling put on the spot like I would in a 1 on 1. Not obligated to talk or hold a stilted conversation. I can jump in an out as needed.

2) Where do you think they can be improved?

Idk, it feels dead. I know there's nothing that can really be done about the lower attendance but it seemed more useful when there we're more than 2 rooms occupied at any given time. Not to mention all the drama and discourse that's been going on for the past while. I find that I'm not really staying in a room for very long. It can just make a person feel worse sometimes.

3) How do you feel about Group Discussions? More? Less? Ideas for topics you'd like to see covered?

I like them, more than I used to since it's a lot harder for a troll to derail a helpful conversation, but I kinda but I feel like they stay on the surface too much. Like they're forever being introductory to a topic. I want to have deeper discussions rather than just "what's your definition of ____ and how do you feel about it"

1) What are some of the things you love about the rooms?

Discussions! Getting to meet new people! Discussions! Seeing members interact with each other! And did I mention discussions? :P

2) Where do you think they can be improved?

We need more mods who can cover a wider range of timezones

3) How do you feel about Group Discussions? More? Less? Ideas for topics you'd like to see covered?

Theyre my favouriteeee part of group support! Id like to see more, and specifically Id like to see all the discussions that are on tockify actually happening. The range of topics are really good!

@lovelyllama13

1) What are some of the things you love about the rooms?

Rooms are a great place where I can meet other members and know each other, giving as well as getting support in hard times or just hanging around and discussing fun topics!

2) Where do you think they can be improved?

There are a lot of things that can be improved.

First of all please increase the "become a moderator" requirements. A moderator told me that they need only 15 group support chats to apply for one. I mean isnt it too low to understand the group room behaviour and environment of group support room?

Secondly, half of the discussion that are on tockify doesnt happen. I woul like to say leaders who are leading the team to remove it from there or put a "CANCEL" note on it, and moderators do inform the leaders when they are going on break. Its frustrating when we try attend the discussion from our busy life and the discussion doesnt happen. Please keep tockify up to date!

Thirdly taking strict actions against trollers (who are using multiple accounts and are abusive) would help to a great extent.

3) How do you feel about Group Discussions? More? Less? Ideas for topics you'd like to see covered?

All discussions are great and I respect moderaters for taking their time and leading discussions for us members. It is much appreciated <3

i have never chatted in a group chat with a subject. those planned chats. why? well... when my ptsd is bad in combination with my autism, i cant think straight and i get totally confused by the timezones.... wouldnt it be an idea to be able to select in wich timezone you are? and that it is saved in your account?

love to all!

It is not necessary. Your computer already knows what time zone you are in, and the calendar can easily show you times in your own time zone. For some reason that no one understands, 7 Cups has chosen to use a calendar that ignores your time zone. Perhaps, as a result of this discussion, this will finally be fixed.
