Guest Support Update (Adults)
UPDATE: The Guest Support rooms will remain closed.
Hey! Quick update to let you all know that we have temporarily closed the Guest Support room for 24 hours. This is because the room was not functioning as the helpful, welcoming space for guests that it was intended to be.
Please post here if you have any issues/concerns. I will update you all tomorrow on GS plans moving forward!
Thank you :)
Ive noticed that since Guest Support closed, most of the member rooms have lost chatters. When I go in, MCR has at most 2- 4 now. TS has 6, the most people I've seen in a room is 6. I guess everyone got bored and took off? I thought for sure the rooms would have more people needing support during the Holidays.
That sounds like more than I've ever seen lately. Usually all the support rooms are dead silent and DCR is bustling with petty lighthearted chatter. I don't dare go into TS though, so maybe that's where everyone else is.
I miss all the guests and members with whom I would communicate in GS. :(
so basically, Guests are officially not welcome in 7 cups... that's fucked up.....
@AgentMay08 But, guests are still welcomed. They can still connect 1-on-1 with a Listener which is better than not having that option at all. Sure, they don't have a room to use now but they are still welcomed. I think we should all be fortunate that we even have that option. It's better than nothing, right? Hopefully soon something will be figured about what will be done. Until then, guests are more than welcome to connect 1-on-1 with a Listener (which is what a lot of new people do anyway).
@Liv is not the same thing... first they locked all the rooms because Guest were trolls, now they kicked them out completely, nice way of supporting people!....
@AgentMay08 @AgentMay08 No one is calling all guests trolls because that's a false statement. However, more trolling is known to happen on guest accounts since they aren't actually accounts and the worse that can happen to them is to get a mute. This is not in an way saying all guests are. A lot of times as well, banned users go on guests accounts and misbehave which is also why they chose to lock all the other rooms on that side. This is to ensure the safety of the Members, Listeners and Moderators which I think is a really fair step to take. 7 Cups is constantly changing as the community is so know, this may not be super long lasting. It does stink that some had to ruin it for the rest but Guests who are coming on here as a brand new person to the site doesn't exactly know the difference, now would they? And as always, creating a Member account is always an option unless you're banned. I hope Guests are allowed back in the rooms on that side soon, though.
@Liv yeah, because members, listeners and moderators are more important than guests.... that's why they get treated like garbage by the administrators of this site....
@Liv yeah... thats totally a better idea. Best freaking idea ever! Wrong. Its the worst. Most listneres are crap and abusive. Remove this comment idc. Connecting? Listeners ae abusive, dont respond, or are just rubbish at listening. GET THE FREAKING ROOM BACK [comment removed by AffyAvo as it violates community guidelines]
The Guest Support Room has been closed for 2 Weeks now 😕 I think its fair to say that many new ppl who wished to try out the Chatroom (without creating an account) weren't able to and left. 7 Cups is a Community... but do we want a gated community? Hope not
The Guest Support room will remain closed at this time. We did want to have a room for guests on 7 Cups and tried various different approaches to making the Guest Support room safe and supportive. However, over time we have learned that member-only rooms help to create a safer space for our users.
It is my understanding that many of the regulars in Guest Support did have member accounts. I encourage those people to use the Member Hangout room from now on.
We do not wish to completely exclude guests from the rooms and are currently planning a feature that will allow guests to view the conversation in rooms. They will need a member account to actively participate (much like how the forum works), but will still be able to see what is going on and follow support sessions. Many websites do request that users sign up for accounts to use various features. On 7 Cups we do not ask you to provide personal details (e.g. your real name) in order to create an account, so it is absolutely possible to do so and still remain anonymous. Additionally, guests are still able to seek support in 1-1 chats and use the free growth path without an account.
