Hey Mods!

This post is to alert you to new / changed group support rules. They are in place as of RIGHT NOW.

*NEW RULE*
16) The Welcome & Support room is a space for guests to receive support. If you are a member, please use one of the member rooms to seek support or chat with friends. Members may only participate in the W&S room if helping to welcome or support guests.

This rule is to help us protect the Welcome & Support room and ensure it is being used for its primary purpose. Its primary purpose is welcoming and supporting guests. If members are using the room to seek support, you can direct them to another support room. If they are using the room to socialise, you can direct them to the Member Hangout room using this link. They will need to comment on the forum post to earn the Hangout Key that will unlock the room for them.

***Members are permitted to participate in the Welcome & Support room as long as they're helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment for guests.***

*CHANGED RULE*
10) Please do not share names of drugs or medications with others.

We briefly experimented with allowing drug and medication names to be used, however this raised numerous safety concerns and we received a lot of feedback suggesting that it is safer to refrain from sharing names at this time.

Let me know if you have any questions :)

@Heather

Thank you for the update!! Going back to the old rule for med/drug names--this applies to Thinking Space as well, correct?

@Amelia - Yup, all rooms. The only exception for TS is the religion/politics rule :)

Thank you for continuously and tirelessly working on the Group Support rules and providing guidelines for making the rooms a more supportive and organised place. Especially the update regarding substance mentioning is much appreciated. smiley

Hi @Heather! Thanks for this post :)
I do have one question though. The Member Hangout and Thinking Space rooms, are they only for members? They are a great idea for teens too!

@akaAlex

The Adult side has more Mods, so they can have additional support teams smiley However, with limited Mods on the teen side, we may not be able to do this. You are correct, Member Hangout is only for Members and Listeners with an acquired Hangout Key badge. However, I'm not too sure about Thinking Space as I am not an oldie surprise

@akaAlex yes, the hangout room and thinking space room are for the adults :) both needed access/key to get it :) hangout room is a news room here on the other side xD haha while on the other hand thinking space is an old one but it has been "renovated" :p

@Heather I have a great deal of respect for you and I realise that I may well be out of place in sharing my opinion when I have not been active in the community for a while but the rule about sharing drug names seems excessive, as such information is widely available on Internet "support" forums and many other sites dedicated to mental health, everyone's situation is indeed different but obtaining medication is often something that is only done under the judgement of a skilled practitioner and I believe that taking certain types of medications such as anti psychotics can be very stigmatising so having a place to share with others who are going through similar experiences with perhaps the same drug might be helpful. But again this is just my opinion and no offence intended, perhaps a guide on this would be helpful and a dedicated chat room with specially trained moderators.
