To all the moderators! ♥
This is to all you amazing moderators out there!
First of all, I?d like to highlight what an amazing, wonderful team of listeners we have and a lovely group moderator team that?s always willing to help and be there in the group support rooms extending their hands out to help members/guests and keep our chats safe! However, in the slight case we have a few listener Group Moderators that seem to be inactive in Group Support! I don?t mean to be mean or rude in anyway whatsoever but I?m trying to get my honest point across that when we all signed up to be Group Moderators, we signed up to help others out in the Group Support rooms, I do understand and bear in mind that we do have a Community Room in which we can have lighthearted chats in to unwind and talk about our day, but I feel like some moderators have been using it a bit too much and not focusing on the real job ? the Group Moderating job that you signed up for. So if you are a Group Moderator, I have posted this is in the Group Mod Zone for you all to see..I would like for you to have a think..have I been spending too much time in the Community Room? How much have I been contributing to the Group Support? Have I been slacking off?
Personally, from my experience as a Group Moderator, I absolutely LOVE being able to help others in a group environment and reaching out to them when they are struggling..it can be daunting for some, to talk on 1-On-1?s so they reach out to us in the Group Support and talk about their feelings, sharing them with other member/guests that could possibly relate and help them out in anyway possible. I really believe in this quote: ?Every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.? ? I believe this is what 7 Cups does, especially what our Group Support room voices. We help each other out, in any way we can :)
So my fellow Group Moderators! I want to see you encouraged and in the Support Rooms with a big smile on your faces and happy ? that you?re able to help someone out by being there for them. Forget about the trolls ? I understand it can be daunting. Suicidal members/guests can be triggering and there can be many of those in there at times! But do your job and remember that 7 Cups is not a crisis resource ? if at anytime any member/guest bothers you about not helping any suicidal person that comes in refer them to this! https://www.7cups.com/memberAgreement.php ? It is the Terms of Service that they agreed to when they signed up, by checking the box on the member Sign Up page, they agreed that they will hereby enter this agreement.
Again, I promote you all to help out in the Group Support rooms! Please do not sit and wait in the Community Room..but rise in your duties as a moderator :)

Thanks for this, Rabea :)
Now I've read the post... yup, I agree - maybe just to clarify, that when you mean Group Support, I assume you mean Teen Support, as the CR will also fall under Group Support.... if you don't mean that, ignore me!
@mobbsy, haha yeah when I say Group Support I mean Teen Support - I guess I just wanted this post to be valid for adults/teens.![]()
Haha, fair enough yeh!
@sweetBlueberry19
Wonderful post! As much as our community room(s) are important, so are our teen supports! We need to ensure that if a room needs a moderator, it isn't being neglected for the sake of casual conversation.
Thanks for bringing this up in such a motivating, inspiring way![]()
@Chrissy, thank you - and yes we need to make sure that the Teen Support is covered with a moderator and not being overlooked whilst sittingin the Community Room. Sorry if I didn't make my point clear in the OP by saying Group Support - I did mean to say Teen Support hahah but I hope you understood it still what I meant![]()

You forgot me ;) Im glad to know Heather will consider what we talked about ^_^ Thats really something we need to improve!
I didnt know there was a mod meeting and wish i had known. His sounds like a great topic and your post was wonderfully written!
i do personally enjoy spending time in the listener community room because i very rarely get triggered there. I do try to go into the support rooms at least a couple times a week and if someone comes into the community room asking for a mod, i always respond to the request for help. I am currently getting triggered easily and am going through a lot of chaos since i live in Texas where most of our state is experiencing extreme floods. So I do thebest I can.
If all our mods were to commit to two chats per week most of the rooms would be coveredround the clock!

@Angelwings2, I see that you are an adult listener - the mod meeting was on Teens Side. And that's perfectly understandable, you are avoiding triggers at the current time and you are trying your best - as long as you are moderating and rising in your duty as a mod that's totally fine. Hopefully when all gets better you can jump into the Support Rooms - good to see that you're practicing self care though - self care is truly very important![]()
@sweetBlueberry19,
Such a nice post. Thank you for the tag, I am glad to read about someone as passionate as you are. I love to go to the Support rooms to help out even though I am new to this and sometimes it can be ovwerwhelming, I will try my best to learn more about how to handle the situations. Thanks again for being great.
@Ocean nice to see a new Group Mod here, welcome to the team! *hands you a cupcake*And yes it can be a bit hectic and daunting at times with all the situations - as long as you keep going - remember we're here for you if you need it! Also, if things do ever get too much for you, do PM one of our other mods to mod alongside you - maybe that could help you out a bit to ease into the mod role.
The bravest thing you can do is ask for help when you need it.~ Love this

@sweetBlueberry19
Thanks for the post! It's really important for people to consider this because, 7 cups has over 320 moderators and I'm certain most of the don't moderate the Support rooms (not community room etc), the way they should or for the amount of time they should.
Personally, I'm almost always moderating them, so I would encourage any moderator to swing by and moderate them with me! I'll happily support anyone in there too, so they don't get triggered, have someone to rely on and to reduce the stress of it.
I understand many people can and will be triggered in such an environment, and it's okay for everyone to take a break from that room and go into more user-friendly rooms such as the Community Room, however try to remember all the rooms must be moderated and not just by a very small group of people, as this will only lead to them being stressed out!
Ultimately though, I hope everyone takes it into consideration and thanks for all the hard work and dedication everyone!
@Baubs, yes we don't want to cause burn-out. We have such a big team of mods yet such little coverage, how is that possible? As we mentioned yesterday, it would be lovely to have the moderator buddy system in place so that we can help each other out with modding - teamwork! Also, at times, a break is needed from modding as it can be exhausting, so it's perfectly ok to settle down in the Community Room for a while as that is a place that is trigger-free and lighthearted and fun. Just don't overuse it - because sometimes we see a thing we call 'mod take over' in there and that's not great to see to be completely honest, it overwhelms members/guests at times.
Anyway, back to the point! You're all amazing and thank you for doing a great job!![]()
