A Group Support Proposal For Your Feedback!
Hello everyone,
Group Support is one of the significant parts of the community to provide support to the community. We are always striving to bring more quality and focused support to the community members. Today’s post is to discuss and have your inputs on some of the ideas to improve quality to ensure focused support.
Proposal 1
As you all know a group support leader can pick 3 rooms/ support teams / subcom to support the community. It will be applicable for both room supporter and moderator. So we were discussing it earlier and I realized how overwhelming it is for group leaders as well as members' constant feedback on not getting topic-based support regularly. To address it, I propose:
- A group leader can pick only two rooms to focus on to provide focused support to the community members.
- One room would be a regular room (either Support Room 24/7 or Member Community Room)
- The second room will be any focused topic room like Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Eating Disorder, Relationship, etc.
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate this proposal where 1 is “Nay” and 10 is “Yay”
Proposal 2
As you all know every support team runs support sessions and guided discussions to support the sub-community. Unfortunately, we do not have many discussion hosts to host these sessions. So to address it, I propose:
A community-centered mod of a sub-community would be required to host a 30 minutes support session/ guided discussion twice a month.
I am proposing a 30 minutes session as it seems easier to manage to host than an hour session. So, a moderator may be able to schedule in advance and run therapeutic sessions. As well as it will be a huge help to the Support Teams and the Community.
The reason to propose these changes is to ensure both the group leaders and community get all support. We strive to support our members, so our focus is always to give them the best support and experience. And, as our community leaders are so dedicated and hardworking. We understand how they trying their best to support the community through their efforts and contributions. They are important to us and we appreciate their efforts.
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate this proposal where 1 is “Nay” and 10 is “Yay”
All thoughts and feedback on the above proposal are welcomed! We look forward to having your inputs. Thank you for being with us!!
@ASilentObserver
yay to both
@ASilentObserver, Hi. Is this for listeners? Thanks.
I like proposal 2 because it seems the most convenient
Hi @ASilentObserver
Please correct me if I get it wrong.
Proposal 1 - That would make everyone focus more and perhaps can contribute more to support their chosen 1 focus room.
But looks like this means, less supporters on Focus sub-com and 24/7 and MCR will be loaded with supporters. Is that the goal?
I'd vote 8 for YAY
Proposal 2 - I would prefer 1x per month for 1 hour so we will only alocate 1x time and learn 1 discussion material per month.
However, if most chose 2x/ month for 30mins then I'll go with most vote as long as it's only 1 focus sub-com/ room then it's 6 for YAY
Q: How do we take off the badges?
Proposal 1.. 5 Proposal 2 ... 1. An hour doesn't give one much time to do much. Especially when we look at the sharing circle. Everyone wants to get in there and I see that the moderators are battling to keep up, who's next, whose in the line. Al lot of things to control and to be listening to a person it is kinda hard to do that. Cos you gotta start and stop the sharer after a certain point otherwise no one else gets in and also get upset ( secretly people do get annoyed esspecially when the time is reached) and with a limit of an hour people wanna be heard and get frustrated to get to talk. If a 30 min time is introduced, people might lash out more or not participate in the event as we'd expect. Either we can create a 2nd group like this, to handle the traffic a bit better. Maybe a specialized one for depression or the various topics on specific days or specific times of the day. Because then I believe the moderator also could be better prepared and not be bombarded by a 100 different topics and no real therapy could be provided for anyone.
I’m very good at leading and managing I’ve helped my cousin she’s a therapist for couples and troubled addicts so I’m getting my masters in psychology this is what inspired me
I would rate this a 10 I’m natural at starting up convos and love engaging with others

Proposal 1: As has been discussed ad nauseum, people will continue using the regular 24/7 rooms to fill their quotas even though removing their ability from 3 to 2 support teams is a nice idea. There are too many people collecting memberships in subcoms for the popularity aspect only. If 7cups was really serious about monitoring volunteers, then volunteers with power should only be able to fill their quotas in their topic rooms, not by playing around in rooms like MCR. Besides, when mods or whatever rush to 24/7 rooms like MCR, Sharing Circle, etc. there will not be room for everyone, everything will be low-quality, and it will only lead to disaster. 2/10.
Proposal 2: YES. YES. YES. Now you are thinking! Get people to actually doing something! 7/10 as-is, add some modifications in and this will be perfect. I think a 30-min discussion twice a month minimum is fair. 30 minutes is not that long of a time, like you said, easier to manage than 1 hour (sometimes things come up, and this is on a volunteer basis and people have other things in their life). However, it's not fair for this responsibility to be on only one person, people in the subcom need access to open their rooms so everyone on a subcom team can help. And those that continue to do nothing deserve the boot.
I also feel that an open chat support session is cheating a little. The minimum meetings should be guided discussions only. Larger/ better managed subcoms should be able to handle this with ease, and could easily have a 1 hour discussion (AKA: the usual/old normal), even have multiple people helping. This is also fair to smaller subcoms/subcoms with only one competent person running guided discussions.
@ASilentObserver for the first one, I'm not sure
for the second one YES. because I see a lot of subcommunites that are not very active, and just kind of exist "on paper" but don't do much for the members. I think every subcommunity should run AT LEAST one support group per month for their members.
@StarlitSky4762 but the proposal is only mods with this requierement, the rooms supporters would continue to just be active in the 24/7 room and not active in the topic rooms.
@ASilentObserver
Proposal 1 leaning towards a 6 out of 10. But given I just started, I'm yet to fully familiarize myself with all of the available 7 cups features.
I think proposal 1 is okay but maybe not 24/7 since it can become difficult for group leaders. Proposal 2 lacks a little.
