Proposal 1:

I would rate this a 6, it sounds good to me but at the same time I feel as though there can be some different changes, Also only 2 room choices is not as far off from from 3, I feel as though it won't make as much as a difference.

Proposal 2:

I would rate this a 8, it's a good proposal. It would help out greatly, since group mods often moderate, they could also host 30 minutes sessions. I would like to ask though this doesn't mean all sessions would be reduced down to 30 minutes only would they?

Tbh with you Obs, proposal 1 is a 3 to me as it is too rigid what concerns room choices to me.

I would go with proposal 2 - 8.

Thank you everyone for your inputs. I am grateful to you for your time, efforts and thoughts. I hear you. So here are my thoughts that I would like to share with you.

Proposal 1: I understand how limiting to 2 chatrooms could impact the coverage but we are taking this step after listening from Support Team Leaders and Community Members. If we implement this proposal, the focus is not on meeting monthly chat requirements because I know our chatroom moderators. They are wonderful and smart leaders. Here we are focusing on increasing the visibility of chatroom moderators and room supporters.

Leading to specializing in managing groups as group facilitators in general or in a focused room. No doubt, meeting requirement by spending in one room would be easy and that's why we focusing on two rooms at a time, so moderators or room supporters do not get overwhelmed and enjoy their role and learning something about the group, people, and what works best and what do not. Becoming a mindful chatroom leader. Focus more on group building and identify community needs to address them.

However, I understand that every chatroom moderator is different and some even like to manage more than 2 rooms too. So how about after 45 days managing two rooms only, they can apply for the third or fourth room too? Or they can continue with the two rooms? It will be their choice!

Support Room, Member Community room, and Sharing Circle room are the current regular rooms and they required support and moderation too. So they can facilitate support and conversation and secure the environment for a better experience for all. All three rooms are linked to Newbie Hub Sub-community, so one who can moderate Support room 24/7 will have the ability to moderate Member Community and Sharing Circle Room too! It will not only help the community, members in these chat rooms but also allow them to encourage and support potential future group leaders. They will be a mentor or role model for them!

The proposal isn't to meet role requirements but to allow a learning and specializing environment for the group leaders and a secure and supportive environment for the community members!

Proposal 2: Earlier all chatroom moderators were used to support session leaders of their specific sub-com and hosted an hour session every week to support the community. But it led to burned out and felt overwhelmed. Also, all chatroom moderators are also part of various projects and hold different roles in the community.

That is why I am proposing 30 minutes guided session twice a month, so easy for them to schedule 30 minutes in a week and host these sessions. As well as allow the community to know when a specific topic session will happen and who will be hosting them. But there is flexibility, if the moderator could host a session of an hour, they could. It will be their decision.

I understand scheduling could be difficult for some or all of us but it will be a skill to learn. And you can practice the time management and scheduling skill here. Secondly, issuing a doorkeeper badge isn't difficult but we want this to be collaborative team efforts rather than an individual effort. We have doorkeepers who can open/ close the room. If regular doorkeepers aren't available, a community moderator on shift can help with opening the room.

Here one may be a group leader for Relationship Support or Anxiety Support but on a big level, they are a group leader of a group support team and the group support team is part of the 7Cups Team! We all are interlinked and interdependent. We are complementing each other in our roles.

Secondly, we cannot issue the doorkeeper badge to all because in the past it was misused by a bunch of the users. Currently, we have about 100 doorkeepers to help us! And if anyone is interested to apply to become a doorkeeper, the criteria is to lead 3+ sessions every week in a group chatroom where one session needs to be in a pop-up room.

Also, if we implement these two proposals, it wouldn't be set in stone. We will keep iterating the process as per the challenges we face and community and group leaders' needs! So I believe we could give it a try! If it worked out, we all will enjoy a more secure and safe environment and support in the chatrooms. And if not, we will learn the lesson what didn't work out and what could we do to make it work.
Overall, the purpose of both proposals is to provide more structure, support, and specialization.
