Group Support Community Updates: December 2021

Howdy howdy Group Support Community! A smidge delayed in our updates, but even still, we're excited to be kicking off a new year with a lot of updates and exciting things to come! Check out updates from some of our team members below!

• ASilentObserver (Admin Oversight)
  

  • Happy New Year everyone! From my end, I rolled out a quick Group Support Survey and shared updates based on the feedback we received here! Also posted a short survey on Neurodiverse and took all the feedback we received in consideration to increase and improve the support for Neurodiverse group. All the progress we will be making on all these fronts will be updated and shared with everyone in future communications.

• LuLuRings (GSML Lead)

  • Happy New Year Group Support Community! Looking forward to everything we have in store for this year. Reflecting on December and 2021 overall, we had some awesome events. Our last event was our awesome New Year’s Eve Marathon, and I want to thank everyone who participated and volunteered for making the event happen. Stay tuned for more fun events as we kick off 2022!

  • As Obs shared, we have opened a new chat room, the Neurodiversity Support room. If you would like this, or any other rooms, opened for open chats or discussions, please use THIS FORM to request the room opened, so long as a Room Supporter or Group Moderator is able to be present. In terms of our newest team, The Writers Guild, our first script was hosted in the Family & Caregivers subcommunity and was very successful. We look forward to more scripts and guest hosts soon!

  • As we move through this quarter, we're hoping to work on some updates and clarifications to our applications, group support room rules, and other such things to support safer, more inclusive, and more engaging spaces for everyone! Keep checking in for exciting updates from our team coming soon!

• AnnaTess (Sharing Circles)

  • Happy new year Sharing Circle community! 2021 was a big year for Sharing Circle. To name a few of the stellar things we accomplished: We celebrated our first birthday with a party in the SC room, held several AMAs to get community feedback, and streamlined the script to make it efficient and helpful for our wonderful hosts. We also piloted and successfully implemented Sub-Community-focused Sharing Circles (“Traveling SC”), with several more sub-communities joining the list in 2022! Going into 2022, we have several projects that we hope to debut later in the month. Overall, we want to extend a massive thank you to our incredible hosts, supporters, and sharers. Sharing Circle couldn’t exist without you all! Looking forward to many more shares in the new year.

• PeaceLoveandPaws (Room Supporters)

  • December has been a wonderful month for Room Supporters. I would like to thank everyone who participated in our sessions this month. I am excited to announce our Room Supporter team meetings for the 1st quarter will be held on Mondays at 1 pm ET for adults and Mondays at 7 pm for Teens. As you may know, our Buddy Program for Room Supporters is now open. We’ve had a lot of Big Buddies apply for the program. If you wish to be a Big Buddy or would like some extra support from an experienced Room Supporter as a Little Buddy, please take a moment to check out our post here. I am looking forward to the New Year and new times for our meetings. Please remember that everyone is invited to attend.

• CheeryMango (Mod Lead)

  • A heartfelt thank you to our chatroom moderators for all of the tremendous support and efforts they have provided to our group support chatrooms in the year 2021. In 2022, it is my hope that we better equip chatroom moderators with more hands-on and group-based training sessions, maintain a regular meeting time, create more resources to assist moderators in the role and strengthen the leadership between chatroom leaders.
