Healthy Ways of Losing Weight
It's easy to tell how losing weight is supposed to work. If you eat more calories than you burn, you gain weight. And if you eat fewer calories than you burn, you lose weight. Though we all know it's not that easy.
These frustrations many times can lead us to unhealthy ways of losing weight. So, why don't we share some ideas on how to lose wight in a healthy way?
Keep it mind that it might not be easy. Just eating healthy might not be enough, Short-term diets don't usually work. You try a new diet, it's hard because they usually aren't satisfactory but you see some changes because sometimes they are good if clinically recommended but the main problem is that it's completely short-term, -once that you start eating normally again, you gain all that weight that you managed to get ride of. It's a lifestyle change, permanent changes in your lifestyle and food choices are what will work in the long run.
If not eating at all:
Just not eating at all, doesn't work. Yeah, you heard me right, and I'm being very serious here. It does not work. Once you start eating again, it all comes back. Even if we want it or not, eventually you'll have to come back to eating, more or less, but eating after all. It sucks, it truly does that after all that suffering, it ends up not working either. So believe me now, it might just be something of faith right now if you are struggling with it, but it's not worth it.
If binge eating:
Overweight is as usual as any other problem you might have with food. KEY WORD: Problem. Don't get scared with the use of "eating disorder", I know how terrible that looks, take it at your own time. We aren't talking about eating disorders here, this is healthy ways of losing weight.
If you eat when youre stressed, find healthier ways to calm yourself. Some ideas could be: exercise, yoga, meditation, or soaking in a hot bath. (Comment yours!)
If you eat when youre feeling low on energy, find other mid-afternoon pick-me-ups. Some ideas could be: walking around the block, listening to energizing music, or taking a short nap. (Comment yours!)
If you eat when youre lonely or bored, reach out to others instead of reaching for the refrigerator. Some ideas could be: call a friend who makes you laugh, take your dog for a walk, or go out in public (to the library, mall, or park—anywhere theres people). (Comment yours!)
General tips for diets:
It's not about avoiding a certain food at all. To keep a healthy diet you must eat a little from everything, banning certain aliments from your diet will only make you feel frustrated and make you crave for it more. You just need to it less of it if it's unhealthy (read as: junky food, chocolate, coke).
Drink a lot of water, it really helps if you don't drink coffee, alcohol or sodas.
Exercise is a dieters best friend. It not only burns calories, but also can improve your resting metabolism.

@MelAllyouneedislove Trying to stay away from processed food as possible. Limiting my sugar and carbs intake.
Making sure my plate is colorful. Making sure I get many greens in my diet and encorporating more fruits too along with all the protein and some carbs I love
I eat healthy most of the time. However, I will eat pizza at least once in a while.
Hello! Does anyone know if it is considered healthy to lose LESS than 1 pound per week? I struggle trying to lose 1 pound per week because I find my energy gets too low. I think I feel more comfortable at a rate of around two-thirds of a pound per week, but I googled it and cannot find any information as to whether this is healthy or effective for weight loss. I have not been to a doctor to ask. Does anyone here know?
@singercrystalspirit What are your reasons for wanting to lose weight? It is worth considering why you are putting in a effort to do so. Also if you feel too drained from loosing too much per week, then it does sound like you are pushing yourself too hard and need to step back a bit.
@imwithhealthtoo Thank you! I'm mainly wondering whether it is considered *medically* healthy - I want to ensure I'm not doing anything harmful to my body losing less than 1lb per week, and I also am wondering whether it is considered *medically* effective long-term. I am unsure whether you need to lose a certain amount per week in order for it to be effective/not a waste of your time. I thought it was odd that on a google search, I couldn't find any info about losing less than 1lb per week.

Hmm, i'm wondering if you could focus more on feeling than on numbers? I think if you are eating well and feel well, it does not matter what you weigh/how much weight you are loosing. And usually if weight is lost in an unsustainable way (undereating/strict dieting) it can backfire and result in weight gain once you start eating how you once did. (There can also be weight loss plateus or a posibility of gaining weight on a low calorie diet--this all has to do with metabolism.) I also am not a doctor so I do think it would be wise to discuss these concerns with a doctor/nutritionist :)
@MelAllyouneedislove I really love this. I am trying (for the first time ever) to commit to the healthy lifestyle changes. It is really difficult, to try thing after thing to calm yourself when you are used to food, and for nothing to quite help at the time being...
