Healthy Ways of Losing Weight

It's easy to tell how losing weight is supposed to work. If you eat more calories than you burn, you gain weight. And if you eat fewer calories than you burn, you lose weight. Though we all know it's not that easy.

These frustrations many times can lead us to unhealthy ways of losing weight. So, why don't we share some ideas on how to lose wight in a healthy way?

Keep it mind that it might not be easy. Just eating healthy might not be enough, Short-term diets don't usually work. You try a new diet, it's hard because they usually aren't satisfactory but you see some changes because sometimes they are good if clinically recommended but the main problem is that it's completely short-term, -once that you start eating normally again, you gain all that weight that you managed to get ride of. It's a lifestyle change, permanent changes in your lifestyle and food choices are what will work in the long run.

If not eating at all:

Just not eating at all, doesn't work. Yeah, you heard me right, and I'm being very serious here. It does not work. Once you start eating again, it all comes back. Even if we want it or not, eventually you'll have to come back to eating, more or less, but eating after all. It sucks, it truly does that after all that suffering, it ends up not working either. So believe me now, it might just be something of faith right now if you are struggling with it, but it's not worth it.

If binge eating:

Overweight is as usual as any other problem you might have with food. KEY WORD: Problem. Don't get scared with the use of "eating disorder", I know how terrible that looks, take it at your own time. We aren't talking about eating disorders here, this is healthy ways of losing weight.

If you eat when youre stressed, find healthier ways to calm yourself. Some ideas could be: exercise, yoga, meditation, or soaking in a hot bath. (Comment yours!)

If you eat when youre feeling low on energy, find other mid-afternoon pick-me-ups. Some ideas could be: walking around the block, listening to energizing music, or taking a short nap. (Comment yours!)

If you eat when youre lonely or bored, reach out to others instead of reaching for the refrigerator. Some ideas could be: call a friend who makes you laugh, take your dog for a walk, or go out in public (to the library, mall, or park—anywhere theres people). (Comment yours!)

General tips for diets:

It's not about avoiding a certain food at all. To keep a healthy diet you must eat a little from everything, banning certain aliments from your diet will only make you feel frustrated and make you crave for it more. You just need to it less of it if it's unhealthy (read as: junky food, chocolate, coke).

Drink a lot of water, it really helps if you don't drink coffee, alcohol or sodas.

Exercise is a dieters best friend. It not only burns calories, but also can improve your resting metabolism.

Replace any soda or juice with water; that's my best tip!

I've found that cutting back on the sweets and eating fruits that I like has really helped. And yes also drink lots of water and exercise.

I think that before trying to lose weight at all you should examine the reason you want to. Do you want to because you think you are ugly, or because you want to be healthier.

That said, really great post! Lots of great advice!

Eat whole foods that taste good to you!! But don't restrict anything, let yourself have a choice to eat whatever you want.

I think the best way is to eat less and work out as much as possible. Last year I saw cheap leotards gymnastics online and bought it. Started doing gymnasctics, it was my dream. I can't say I was too much overweight but I had lots of body issues. Now they're gone. You just have to make the 1st step

@MelAllyouneedislove

Give yourself a time limit for eating that way you avoid late night eating re: nothing but water or herb tea after 8PM
