Suggestions for Healthy Take-Out Options

Before you say it --- I know home cooked meals are the best healthy option, but I'm in a predicament that I ask this question. :-(

If you HAD to eat take out, what type of food do you eat and where?

I'm sick of McDonald's and never even liked it in the first place. It's just cheap and fast....and gross... I was eating a chicken sandwich earlier, and I bit into something gross and hard, so I threw it away.

I also wouldn't mind spending a little bit more if it's health related. I'm just hardly "home" and "home" is usually trashed and dirty, I'm tired of cleaning it up nonstop for it to get trashed again. Even the fridge gets gross and i see flies...

I found myself just eating sub sandwiches for take out often..it's fine...just wondering what other options are there. If it helps, I do enjoy Mexican, Asian, Soul Food, and Islander food. Italian is good too, and I guess some "American foods". And also healthy options for kids, my son definitely loves fruit and vegetables.

Hopefully, I'll be moving out soon into my own place, so I can cook my own dishes again... I miss cooking...I really do. I miss home cooked meals.. I miss meal prepping. I miss being able to coordinate these meals with workouts. I ESPECIALLY miss seeing my son's face light up after eating something I cooked... It feels amazing when someone enjoys you food.

I thought I'd be able to pay off my eviction by the end of this month but I have a lot of unexpected bills and things to do, that I'll probably end up with a place by the end of this year instead, which is OK I guess. Better late than never.

I think what I might end up doing is sacrificing a day to do a DEEP clean, and make sure my brothers keep up with it or I'm done...OR I'll just hire a cleaner, because I'm f**king tired of cleaning. I currently live in my older brother's house, my younger brother is only a guest, but acts like he lives there and leaves a mess EVERYWHERE...even uses my stuff when I tell him not to. Idk, it's annoying.

Anyways, my question, lol: If you HAD to eat take out, what type of food do you eat and where?

I like Core Life, but I don't know how many locations there are in the US. They also have kids power plates (chicken, veggies, rice, and a fruit cup), which my daughter really enjoys. It is a make-you-own salad place. They also have broths and healthy (er) side items such as sweet potato fries and a healthy (er) organic mac and cheese. :) You can also do healthy wraps---if you like wraps vs. salads.

Core Life is expensive, but the ingredients are VERY fresh and meats are prepared when you order.

I also enjoy Blue Coast Burrito or Moe's. I eat at places like this very often because I consider it, at least, semi-healthy even if I also get a side of chips too. :)

Overall, I feel like I do well eating out. My downfall would be unlimited soft drinks.

I usually have subway once a week. I consider this a fairly healthy option especially for people who are busy and always on the go. I work full-time and we stay busy so I do not enjoy cooking. I meal prep on occasion, but I am not in the habit right now.

There are some places that offer healthy individually packed meals that you can keep in the fridge or freezer. I tried this a while back, however, I didn't like it as well because every meal seemed like a variation of chicken and I don't particularly care for chicken....especially for every, single meal. :)

i would say it is easiest to eat healthy at an asian or mexican place.

obviously not all options are healthy but you can get things such as rice, tofu, vegetables, a burrito bowl without some of the more unhelthy options. Getting a balance of vegetables wherever you can and being open to trying new things to find what you like
