Healthy Weight Loss Tips
Since last December I’ve been on a weight loss journey. I didn’t mean it at first but starting mid December allows you to build momentum so you can surpass the New Years Resolution neurosis. Or break the New Years curse rather. By now I’ve lost a little over 40 pounds. I avoid soda, sugar in general, processed meats, and most bread products. I ultimately thank my daily routine that I’ve developed. I try to go to the gym everyday. I was sick for 2 weeks so I couldn’t go. So I believe that sometimes you can’t go so you might as well go when you can.
There’s also things I do like taking a tablespoonful of honey and apple cider vinegar each day. I also bought a juicer and make juice from cucumbers, lemons and such. I don’t do that everyday. I do cardio everyday. I don’t believe in each day working on one thing. Maybe it’s just me, but I just like to be chaotic with it. I do a little of everything. Then I’ll drink a coffee and try to do 3 laps around the local park. Sometimes I’ll do dumbbells at home before bed.
Im just curious about your weight loss experiences, and what worked most for you?
Congrats on your weightloss, it's not easy to maintain it all. Mine has been up and down until the last couple of years and then slowly losing, which is fine by me.
Everyone is different, for me what helped was the eat when hungry, stop when full. It stopped me from overeating out of habit or boredom or stress.
I don't limit sugar or fatty foods but I've naturally got to a point where sometimes I'll choose the healthy option anyway, so I drink mostly water at home, but when I'm out could be fizzy or juice drinks.
After a certain time 8pm I don't have anything to eat or drink unless I'm really really hungry but usually I'm not, I used to feel so bloated at the end of the day, now not at all.
I don't force myself to eat brekkie anymore because I'm not peckish first thing. I like snacking and that varies between nuts, cereal bars, crisps..
For me I got to the point where I could mix unhealthy and healthy and still maintain steady weightloss and that just makes it easier.
I also experiment with vegan and veggie options so it's not just meat, meat, meat..
Oh lastly I would say buying small single packets work easier, so then you can 1 a day, for snacks

Congratulations on your weight loss!
What worked for me was intermittent fasting.
It's not for everyone, and there's a hundred different ways you can approach it. I don't go too extreme with it like some do. I eat in the morning, have a big lunch, then go at least 18 hours until I eat again.
It sucked at first. I'd wake up in the morning ready to inhale food like a vacuum cleaner, but you get used to it fairly quickly. I dropped 40 pounds after my son was born and haven't had to work very hard to keep it off.
There's a ton of info out there about it and everyone has lots of different opinions, but it's not really a calorie deficit thing. You don't eat less overall, just fewer bigger meals instead of more smaller ones.
Best of luck going forward!

I try to get a good amount of fiber in my diet. Green beans, broccoli, corn. Oatmeal during the morning. Fiber is what gives you that full feeling. It satisfies the appetite. I mostly eat fish but I love all types of meat.
I do in place jogging inside for about five minutes.
I like to work out my core too.
I was at 214, now I'm 189.

In order to keep my body fat percentage as close to 20-22% as I can, as excess abdominal fat is particularly dangerous too me in light of excess Thrombosis.
After a scan on my hip 4 years ago I have had to reduce me exercise considerably and have stopped running beyond 15 km at a time. First 3 years post scan my weight crept up by 20 lbs which I lost over the past year. All I changed was reducing the intensity, most runs were walk/run intervals but increased duration so that the waking warm up and run were 90 mins or over. Keeping intensity so low meant average heart rate would be controlled and in the middle of Zone 2 (125 BPM) for me, but it maximises burning fat as opposed to breaking down muscle protein for energy and the duration exhaust the muscle glycogen stores with minimal damage to the muscles themselves. I started it a trial, it was mind numbingly boring so lots of podcasts, audiobooks etc, but I just kept extending it month by month.
For overall fitness and keeping lungs clear of clots, I mixed in high intensity spin bike sessions maxing out heart rate every 4-5 days, for the endorphin buzz and to smile 😁😁😁
