Setting Boundaries with Technology Breaking Free from Screen Overload
Hi everyone,
Lately, I’ve been feeling overwhelmed by how much time I spend on my phone that distract me from being productive. It’s tough because I want to do more, but often I get stuck scrolling or watching, and before I know it, hours have passed.
I know I’m not alone in this. So many people are caught in the same cycle, and honestly, it’s scary how much control screens seem to have over us.
To tackle this, I’ve set a time limit on my phone for the apps that take up too much of my day—I’m restricting them until 5 PM each day. I’m trying not to be too hard on myself at the beginning because I want to build a habit that lasts, not something I’ll give up quickly.
I’d love to hear what works for you! Do you have any tips or strategies to share about managing screen time or boosting productivity? How do you stay motivated when distractions are everywhere?
Let’s support each other on this journey toward healthier digital habits and more fulfilling days.
Thanks for reading!

I had a very concerning screen time i remember it being on an avg 17hrs at one point scrolling, chatting and doing everything that a sane person shouldn't be doing... but since I have some imp exams this year I'm trying to shift my focus from all social apps... (also my m.h and all were worsening) it's been almost 3 months since I was active in social media and it feels very peaceful... I joined library few days ago and trying spend most of my time there... to focus on things as the environment is quite and suitable for that. I'm trying to be just active on cups rn b'cus I've seen it having positive impact on my m.h and detaching from bad habits/behaviours and enjoying it... still I'm healing hope it all goes well. 🤍

I completely feel this! The mindless scrolling allows hours of my day to pass, and I don't even realize until the sun starts to set! It's an unfortunate reality and a product of our social media culture...
But there is hope! I have started using the setting on my iPhone (and I'm sure other phones from different companies have a similar feature) where you can get a physical reminder on your screen that your limit on a specific app is up. This has been very helpful for me regarding social media usage, and you can even set your phone to lock that app at a particular time or after a certain number of minutes/hours on that specific app. You can also override with a passcode in case of emergencies, and I know a lot of moms who use this to ensure their kids touch grass now and then, haha.
This is by no means an easy feat, and limiting screen time can feel harder than cutting out caffeine from your daily routine, but you GOT THIS! Together, we can lower our screen time to make more time for things that matter to us! Like hanging out with friends, spending time with family, or even taking nature walks to calm our nervous system.
