WEEKLY CHECK-IN JANUARY 7th 2017!! (Happy New Year)!!
HELLO EVERYONE!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! (NEW YEAR / FRESH START right!?!).....First Check-In for 2017!!
So how has everyone been doing?! How have you all been doing since the New Year has started? (I kind of gave you all a break last week and we haven't checked in since Christmas Eve!).... How are your habits going... How have you been doing in keeping up with your goals?.... Or simply just tell us whats been going on with YOU since we've last Checked in with you in 2016!..... We want to hear from YOU!
Hey ! :) I only had 2 meals yesterday. hmm woke up at 2pm so thats not abnormal
I have been moving along.... I kind of been taking a break from things and was just trying to enjoy the "Holiday" time as well as my family~.. .. I gave myself the Two weeks from Christmas Eve after our Challenge ended, until Yesterday (my Break Day) to just scale back a little on my workouts etc... I just tried to focus on enjoying the holidays, enjoying meals I haven't enjoyed in a while, and just spent time trying to relax from daily things a little.....
I normally try to get in 20,000+ steps a day..... but during the past two weeks, I just kind of went "with the flow" of how I was feeling... I did however try to make sure to at least get in 10,000 or More and not just get completely "lazy" with myself. I still had some "holiday" treats around and some "giftcards" to some of my favorite eateries, so I decided to use those up as well so that they weren't "taunting" me! lol.... With Sunday approaching and another new week starting, I am hoping to be ready to get back on track. I even bought a NEW workout DVD with one my Christmas giftcards as well, and have popped that in at least once to check it out. I LOVE it! And it will keep me active inside with the much chillier weather outside!... And I also got a NEW water bottle ... the ones that are electronic and advise you when its time to drink and shows you how much you drink etc..etc.! So I think I am ready to go for the week and ready to get started and back on track. Won't be long before that warmer weather is here again, for those of us who have "cooler" months. So, I hope to be even more closer to my goals and make more progess for sure.... Hope everyone else is hanging in and doing well!
@PoliteOcean, the workout DVD and the new water bottle sound really great. That's one fancy water bottle!
I'm glad you enjoyed the last two weeks and are ready to ramp it up again. It's good to take a break every now and then.

Hi
Although I've been taking all of my medications regularly and kept up with most self-care activities, I've not really kept track of exercise and eating the last few weeks (since Christmas). So it's time for things to go back to normal. Looking forward to making more progress. ![]()
@BridgetAileen
I hear you Bridget! Sometimes we just need that break... and (things of comfort as well, even if at times that includes Food and such)... but hey, it was the Holidays. So what better time to just take a break, kick back and relax a bit. Right?!...but I am looking forward to and ready for some more progress myself. I hope you enjoyed your Holiday
@PoliteOcean, yes, I figure it's much better to savor some of the favorite holiday foods with permission from myself rather than try to completely avoid them and end up binging on them. Keep it sensible and in moderation. Good news is that my Emotional Wellness Test from here at 7 Cups has improved greatly!
It's been going good with my habits and challenge too. However, had some snacks and cookies but I'm more careful now.
@SunshineNaina
Thats great to hear that you have been doing well... (Its ok to have a cookie every now and then) so dont be too hard on your self for that. We are only human ;) But its great that you are being more careful with that as well!... Keep up the good work you've been doing :)
@SunshineNaina, I've found that when you exercise and eat well otherwise, that the occasional treat within reason doesn't seem to have any effect at all. In fact, for me, it's even better for me to have that treat than it is to keep telliing myself no until I get to the point that I crave it so badly that I binge. But you're doing a lot of healthy things for yourself, so don't worry about those cookies. You're doing *great*!
Week 1 of the new year has been good for me. I REALLY indulged over the whole month of December but this week my eating is back on track - healthy meals and a controlled amount of sweets and alcohol. Yesterday I cooked a big pot of healthy curry, heavy on veggies, and put a bunch of it in the freezer for future meals.
I can't exercise entirely the way I want because of physical issues but I did exercise every day. Some days I still use the 5 min walking video that was a featured exercise of the week in this forum - I love that one to just get me going in the morning!
Also I got a new bed this weekend and it's so much more comfortable than the old one! I hope that my sleep will improve.
My son is going back to school next weekend. That's going to be hard for me so I'll try to appreciate this week with him as much as I can.
@SadMe70
Oh that is so great to Hear SadMe!...Its great that you are back on track with your goals....I am also so glad to hear that you have been using the Workout Videos and that they have been of use and helpful to you! That makes me very glad. I will be getting back to posting new ones this week! (So if you have any ideas on things you would like to see, be sure to send them my way) :)
I know its hard to be separated from our kids.... My son is 21, (once a mom, always a mom)... Its tough to watch them grow up. I try to stay proud in the fact that I hopefully taught him well, and he turned into a great young man, as from the sounds of it, I'm sure yours has as well :) .... Keep up the great work that you have been doing! And congrats on the NEW bed! (Rest well tonight)! lol

@PoliteOcean Thank you! The videos you posted led me to looking around and finding others I like. I like going to the Y so I never tried online workouts before, but now that it's harder for me to have the time for the Y, I am loving all the stuff I'm finding online. I did a 25 minute gentle yoga practice this morning.
I've had a really good visit with my son (he's 19). I am very proud of him :) And of his older brother too who doesn't live with us anymore but isn't too far away.
@SadMe70, it sounds like your new year has you off to a good start in doing healthy things for yourself. A good bed can make a lot of difference in how we sleep and how we feel. I'm practically drooling over here thinking about that yummy curry! Well done!
@BridgetAileen Thanks Bridget! I actually didn't even have the curry yet. I ended up having something else for dinner, so at least tomorrow's dinner is all ready to go!
@SadMe70, Yum! I'll be climbing through the computer screen to visit you tomorrow for dinner. LOL!
@PoliteOcean
It's not been as great as I'd like it to be XDD basically I've been exercising at least once a week but I don't drink as much water. I feel guilty but I mostly don't do anything about it XD
@windflowers
Well, you can concentrate on the "good" stuff that you have been doing for yourself Wind... You have been excersing weekly, and that is something good that you are doing for yourself.The rest will fall in line. Keep going, you can do it!
@PoliteOcean
thank you :)
@windflowers, you're doing something rather than nothing, so that's a positive. Just take it a step at a time and add one extra glass of water or one more day of exercise...not too much at once. Slow and steady wins the race (without becoming overwhelmed).
@BridgetAileen
oh yeah true, thank you for the tips :)
Eh it's been an okay week. I haven't been getting enough sleep. A lot of things are going to change in my life when the semester ends...I get to go back to old fun activities but there are some old anxieties that have been coming back that I thought were over! Hopefully with healthy habits I can deal with it all :)
@lovingBanana5204
I can understand that Loving...have been there myself... just try to hang in there and do the best you can. Thats really all we can do. :)
@PoliteOcean Very true. I will try to do that. Thank you. :)
@lovingBanana5204, you've got this! There's a light at the end of the tunnel as far as the semester goes, so just do what you can until the end of the semester. Then you'll be able to take a deep breath and readjust.
@BridgetAileen Thank you. That's what I'm waiting for... :)
@PoliteOcean I have rocked a new habit: daily French reading! :D I'm on a 7-day streak, which means that since the day I decided to do it, I never skipped a day. I'm feeling proud :D
Unfortunately, I haven't been eating that clean and I gave into frustration (studies).
