The past week has been alright.... I stayed on track with eating and workouts. I did ZUMBA several times this week. I have decided to get another License by ZUMBA again for their 'ZUMBA STRONG" Program. So excited and encouraged about doing that. You can check out a ZUMBA STRONG workout "HERE". Not thinking that I will teach it or not teach it..... but... getting the License by June 1st will enable me to be apart of the Membership and have access to it for free. As well, as it will just be an accomplishment for me to attend and learn a new Zumba Format to add to my credentials as an instructor.

Weather has been decent. Waiting for the outdoor pool to open, We still got about another two weeks for that..... My puppy had a procedure last week, so I pretty much kept him indoors the past week, but was finally able to get him out to his favorite place this week by the Lake, while also getting in some steps for myself as well. I'd say over-all it was a productive week. Hope everyone else's week has went well.

Hi everyone :) I have been doing alright, could be better with sleep tbh. But, I have been eating better (more fruits and veggies). I had a delicious broccoli cheese soup this past week, you just make it in the slowcooker. I hope you all are doing well. 😊🍵🥝🍓

Things have been more difficult lately. It's hard to avoid all the hype about mother's day. I was abused by my mother for 23 years. It's hard to have the reminder of her entitled attitude be echoed in the advertisements for mother's day; how they say, "Get this for mom, she deserves it ." In my mind, I hear my mother's entitled voice saying, "You owe me for all I've had to go through, providing for some selfish kid." It reminds me of how I'm different from the majority of everyone else. It makes me feel isolated, like the problem was with me all along for not worshipping the ground my mother walked upon. It pains me to see people show gratitude to their genuinely decent and functional mothers, knowing they'll always love and appreciate their children, and feelings left out. It reminds me of all the times I've told someone my mom was crazy and having them say, "How could you say that about your mother? She's your mother!" Or scoffing at me, assuming that I really am some entitled, naive child who would confuse proper boundaries and being told no for things and being made to do chores (normal parent/ child boundaries) with the kind of treatment my mother put me through. Nothing I gave my mother for mother's day was ever good enough. I was never good enough. That was how she controlled me, keeping me desperate for her conditional affection and approval, being subject to her whim.

I can't go online or listen to the radio or go to the store or doctor's office without hearing about mother's day.

So yeah, not doing the greatest. I'll be grateful when the mother's day advertising is over.

@Zeraphim

Sorry to hear that Zeraphim. Sounds like you had a very difficult and challenging relationship with your mom. I hope that you have found 'Healthy" ways and Outlets to deal and cope with your childhood with having her as your mom. Sounds like this has affected your mental/emotional health and well-being. I do hope that you have found some support here (or elsewhere). And remember that "family" (including moms) are not necessarily who raised you, its about who is there for you, care for you and support you. Good Luck to you.

I'm new to 7 Cups! I recently moved to Rwanda from the US and am trying to create a healthy lifestyle here, but it is difficult as they don't have everything I relied on back home (essential oils, long drives, etc.). I'm trying to find new ways to engage in self-care here. This week was especially hard, but I made it and am visting friends in Kigali this weekend. Any tips for self-care/healthy living in a third-world country?

@betweentheglades

That all sounds very challenging. What things have you looked into so far?

As far as "Self-care" practices go, just the "little" things can be beneficial. What about taking "walks"? Listening to nature? Sitting in the sun? As you said "Visiting friends"!..... Reading, journaling, meditation, mindfulness.... I'm not sure if you have internet there, or video player etc.... but perhaps using some "DVD'S, CD'S, VIDEOS that can get you up and moving with activity.... Even the "mindfulness" sessions that we have here at 7cups can help to relax and calm you. Although you may not have "some" of the things there that you had in the US, there are other things and other ways that you can still keep you going! Perhaps you can also "google" some things in your area that you may have over-looked to keep you on track? Best of luck to you!

@PoliteOcean So far I've been trying to do yoga, drink water daily, meditate/pray, take warm baths when I can, go out into town when I have the energy, and skype with friends and family back home. Walks are good, the only issue is that everyone here stares, haha, so it's not really time to myself if that makes sense? The one thing that has been really great is this coffee shop/restaurant in town that serves FANTASTIC iced coffee and lattes. I don't know what I would do without it! My kindle has also been a great help--any book reccommendations?

Thanks for the encouragement, I really needed that!

Hi Ocean!

I had another good week in terms of cardio. Went biking outside on several days, and did some sessions of inline skating. I also used my Wii Fit board.
