**This past week has gone petty well... not much anxiety.. always a good thing! Been continuing with Self care and Self awareness and realizing when I just need that extra time for me, and realizing when I'm doing or taking on too much and need to just "slow down"..I've felt a little tired moreso than usual over the past week with some body/ muscle fatigue but I'm sure that goes along with my not getting proper rest.... Will continue to work on that...![]()
**Been on AWESOME Track with my eating goals, and fitness workouts. Got to the local Farmers market, Stayed on track and on plan over the past 7days. Reached my "Step"-goals that I set for myself. I Taught Two ZUMBA classes and Co-lead a 3rd. And did home workout Dvd's in between. As well as increased my water some. ![]()
**Have gotten a little off-track again with sleep. But That is personally my fault due to being a "night-owl" who just doesn't make the plan to "lay it down" earlier!... So.. once again, as the week starts, going to work on making better habits for doing that and put that plan into action!
**Last,.... today (Saturday) is normally a "rest-day", but I've decided to incorporate something EVERYDAY..... and if I "feel" that I need to rest, then I will... So today I will be going to the local POUND Fitness class and start my weekend off right. And I got my Food all planned and tracked for the day ahead as well~![]()
**HOPE EVERYONE ELSE'S WEEK HAS GONE WELL
@PoliteOcean I am so proud of your goal setting and completion. You are doing so great!
This week didn't go as I planned. I had some really low energy days and one day I was really slow on picking up on the poor air quality, I saw the alert on my phone about 6 hours after it had reached the high level, because I was sleeping through it during the day. I also had a frustrating instance of not knowing whether to treat because I wasn't sure if I was having an attack. I used to be sick lots in the mornings, and I think it was likely due to abdo swells. It really hasn't been much of an issue since treatment. There is no test for attacks, the best thing there is, is to treat and see if that leads to a change in symptoms. I woke up before my alarm, got sick, and then seemed to be fine, so at that point my symptoms wouldn't even have been a good indicator if I did treat. I wish it were possible to at least compare that entire day with and without treating, as even in hindsite I have no idea if not treating was the correct thing to do. At least that's better than not treating and finding out hours later it was the wrong decision because of a serious swell!
That was the morning I had my workout. I let my trainer know, prepared to drop everything if symptoms returned. Mentally, it really affected my workout and I didn't enjoy it. I was 'symptom spotting' throughout the entire thing. Things like is this a normal level of thirst or is it a warning that fluid is leaving my blood, when I'm doing twisting motions one side is different than the other, is it because there's asymmetrical swelling that isn't visible, do I just need to burn or is that the start of being nauseated again. Despite that, I got a decent upper body workout at least.
As really late evenings tend to be my better hours with being so exhausted the number of hours of sleep I got during naps exceeded the hours I slept after 'going to bed' some days. Not a fan of this, but sometimes it's just what I have to deal with and trying to avoid it is going to do more harm than going with it.
Despite the crappy week I managed to go to the gym last week and this week, a day closer together because of a switch to the schedule last week, got out to lunch with friends on weekdays twice, got on the rowing machine at home once and I was in the office at work for a fun event but also got to talk a bit about things related to my background, not specific to what I'm doing. I do like having conversations where I feel like I do know some things from my education/potential areas I could step into if my health would allow it.
My hopes for this week
- get on that rowing machine more! I really would like to manage 3 times a week
- switch to sleeping more at night and less napping during the day
- make some plans with my sister to see her and my nephews fairly soon even if I don't actually see them this week
@AffyAvo
Hey Affy... Sorry to hear that things didn't go or workout the way you wanted them to this week and that if put you off track. I hope that you are starting to feel better. And its great that like you said that you were able to get in a "decent upper body workout".... as well as managing to get to the gym!
Its also great that you were able to get out and be with friends. Sometimes that alone can do so much for us emotionally and mentally...
Its also good that you are remaining hopeful for the coming week ahead (by planning time on the rowing machine more and setting a limit for yourself, as well as a better sleep schedule that may be more helpful for you). And keeping close family contacts can also be helpful in many ways... I don't get to see my son as often as I'd like to with him being grown now and working more... but when I am able to get those surprise visits in with him or even planned minor ones, It always makes me feel better mentally and puts a smile on my face. As I'm SURE your "Nephew" does the same for you as well.
I know how much you enjoy your time with him.
Keep up the great work at doing the best that you are able to do and manage for yourself. And thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things are going... By the way.. how is that rowing machine going for you?!
@AffyAvo
I'm sorry to hear that things haven't been quite on track for you. But I hope that you will reach your goals. I think your plan is going to go great and you will succeed so long as you do not give up. Good luck to you!
Made it through a busy week. Kept stress levels low. Weather will be warmer this weekend to get out for some outdoor activities. Enjoy your weekend. Back on a more healthy routine since the holidays.
@sail46
Hi Sail!... Its great that you are getting back on track. And that you made it through a stressful week.
We are having wonderfully warmer weather as well.... it definitely is great for the "Mood"!... I hope that you are getting out and enjoying it! Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing.
@sail46 I'm happy to hear that you are going through the stressful week with your chin up. You are doing very well and I hope you continue to do so. Have a great day!
*pokes* I just came back from my 2 week break, yahoo! c:
HOW has everyone been doing and feeling over this past week?
I'm doing good! This week went great and it's so manageable even though I had my midterm exams c:
How have you been doing with your current goals physically, mentally or emotionally?
I'm still trying to fix my body clock and sleep early. When it comes to mental and emotional aspect I think I've been managing them both good so everything is going smooth lately, I guess.
What healthier things have you incorporated so far since January started?
I've avoided drinking sodas hehe :3 I'm trying to get enough sleep each day!
What things are you doing to help yourself stay on track with them?
Looking for substitutes and for the sleeping schedule, it's matter of time management and avoiding distractions
If you are having trouble staying on track. what things do you feel you could be doing better?
Focusing on the goal and how it would affect me!
What have been your highlights of the past week?
Have met my old friends and been catching up with them c: I also treat myself in a korean restaurant together with my classmates to have unli-korean food, yay!
What things would YOU like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from YOU!!
Reward yourself with self-care breaks! Even small achievements count as victory so keep going!
@Erato
Welcome back Erato!.. This is a wonderful check in!.. Self care is so very important!....
Its great to see you back, and it sounds like you are taking so many necessary measures to stay well-rounded and healthy. From self-care, to spending time with friends, to treating and re-warding yourself!.... All awesome things. Thank you so much for sharing and checking in this week. Keep up the awesome work that you are doing!
@Erato That is such a lovely plan. I hope that things go well for you. You are doing lovely!
@PoliteOcean
Since January started I have been eating regularly and healthy, I am trying to lose weight without triggering my eating disorder, so I also have been avoiding the scale except for once a week.
@PenguinsCrossing
That is awesome for you.... I struggled with that in the past myself when I was much younger. And its awesome that you are coming up with ways to do what is BEST for you!... I think its great that you also remember the importance of "NON-SCALE" Victories as well (Clothes feeling better, More energy to do things, Skin looks better, you feel great mentally and emotionally)! These are ALL things that can come along with living a healthier lifestyle that have NOTHING to do with that scale!...
Keep up the great work you've bee doing! And thank you so much for checking in this week!
This is my first full week post. Glad this accountability is here to share but if I could have picked a first week it would not have been this one because it has been rather complicated. I wouldn't call it a set-back; instead a challenge, maybe just necessary house cleaning. ?
HOW has everyone been doing and feeling over this past week?
A few days off from the office and so focused and on track. Did not "fall off" any wagon. However, a cold turned into a sinus infection and since this is the 3rd in 6 months it was apparent to my doctor and me that my chronis sinuitus has returned. Back to twice a day treatment and diligence against germs. Now, my rational brain said okay, it's back but we treated it before, it's been in remission for over ten years, it will be again; my amegdela however started being fearful.
How have you been doing with your current goals physically, mentally or emotionally?
Even with that, I stayed on my eating plan, and gym work (only 2 days off with the infection) and kept up with 7cups; increased meditation and guided affirmations and all of that. Also, I didn't sink into sadness or depression. I even started 7cups therapy. Still, other things were happening and another trip to the doctor and another flare up of a skin condition and my amegdela was running the show. By the time I returned home I had to down two calming pills; the next morning, one, and this morning one as the full blown panic attack subsides.
What healthier things have you incorporated so far since January started?
Regular and energetic gym time, 7cups affirmations and appreciations, a therapist, nutritarian way of eating.
What things are you doing to help yourself stay on track with them?
The full blown panic this week is something that hasn't happened for two years. So I'm not worried that it did and, in fact, suspect that the good work I've been doing on 7cups and starting with the therapist maybe is just skimming off the surface that which has been holding me back.
What have been your highlights of the past week?
Without my accountability here I'm not sure I would have stayed on track with health habits through the panic this week. Also, I've become a co-lead at the university in a "me too" movement and am beginning to make some new and compatible friends. Tomorrow, I am back out on the town starting my quest to find a progressive and compatible church to fellowship. It may not happen. I've moved tremendously from the hard-boiled dogma of my evangelical upbringing and days but I'm a die-hard optimist. If not a church, there will be another personal community I can find and fit into.
Thank you for letting me share in this community. I really feel embraced under the idea of "healthy living" - it's so holistic.
@oakhenge
Wow Oak... You have had quite the "eventful" week!..Sorry to hear that you had some days of not feeling well, but glad to hear that you were able to trudge through and get through it.
And sounds like you have also done alot of Positive things this week (mediation, taking up therapy!)... Let us know how the 7cups therapy has been going for you! And if you feel that its helpful and beneficial for you in helping you to acheive your personal, mental, and emotional goals of wellbeing.
Another positive thing I see that you share is Regular and energetic gym time, 7cups affirmations and appreciations, a therapist, nutritarian way of eating. ( These are All very wonderful and positive ways of living a healthier lifestyle!) And seems like you really have down the concept of Physical, Emotional, and Mental well-being as being "A whole". And it all coming together as "one".
I'm sorry to hear that you have had some panic episodes, I personally know how awful that is and how it can take a toll. I'm so glad for you that you were able to push through it. As I know its not always an easy thing to do. And I thank you for sharing that with us.. and just know that we are here for you!
Keep up the great work that you really seem to be doing for yourself, and please feel free to reach out anytime! I thank you so very much for checking in this week and for letting us know how you've been and how things have been going for you! And best of luck to you on finding a "Church" that you feel will be beneficial to you as well. As we know "Spiritual Health, Fitness & Wellbeing" is just as important as physical, emotional and mental well being. Keep us updated on how the search is going!.. I'm very interested in hearing how that all goes for you!
@PoliteOcean
heh heh. Well, the church thing didn't work out. By golly, much as I think it will be fine, it is not. Too much shame and guilt from the pulpit to feel any kinship there. Sooooo, other social things building though and I am hopeful.
As for the panic attacks, I have a theory. I think my body is changing in its requirements for caffeine. Although I drink 2 cups of wonderful black brew every morning, I'm thinking my body isn't liking that. I'm cutting back to one cup tomorrow, then if that is too much, will change to black tea and go all the way to green tea if necessary. I'm sorry my body isn't digging the caffeine as much. I sure do like it. . .but not if it's contributing to a constant state of panic.
@oakhenge Awww I love to hear about your non-failing optimism. You are doing such a lovely job. I hope to hear back from you in the future of how things continue to go. Have a lovely day.
I aam getting out for more short walks since the cold front broke. I also have the new puppy as motivation so two birds one stone.
@MAT1965
Thats great MAT!...Yes this weather the past day or two has been really nice and mild.. Its great that you are able to get out more because of it. Congrats on your New puppy! Thats awesome. I have one as well. Its a ShihTzu...What breed is yours? They are wonderful motivation for sure. Mine helped me in many ways to get out and get moving. Hope that yours does the same and that you both share some really great moments outdoors together. Thanks so much for checking in this week!
@PoliteOcean
she is certainly keeping me on my toes! I have three senior cats and a senior dog at home already and she is life altering to say the least! Her mom is Bernese mountain dog and dad was coon hound. She is a beautiful blend of both!
@PoliteOcean
HOW has everyone been doing and feeling over this past week?
I've been doing pretty well this past week, even though it's been up and down sometimes
How have you been doing with your current goals physically, mentally or emotionally?
Physically, my goals have been going quite well. Mentally and emotionally, it's been harder, but I'm not giving up
What healthier things have you incorporated so far since January started?
Some healthy things I've incorporated recently are eating healthier, more regular amounts at meals, getting more exercise, sleeping better in general, spending more time with family, and reading at night before bed.
What things are you doing to help yourself stay on track with them?
I have a reading schedule that helps me be accountable on how much I read each evening, and I help teach a dance class for young kids (motivation to stay fit myself!) I listen to relaxing music every night to help me wind down, and it's also become something I look forward to.
If you are having trouble staying on track. what things do you feel you could be doing better?
Sometimes it's tough to keep on track when I feel upset or think that these things aren't helping. It's also hard to keep up when things get busy.
What have been your highlights of the past week?
Spending time with my extended family yesterday, and talking with my mom, who is one of my biggest supporters
What things would YOU like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from YOU!!
I think it's going to be a busy week for me, but I think it will also be fun
Hope you are all doing well and have a great week!
@neatBalloon7178
Wow what a great check-in Balloon!... Sounds like over all that things have been going really well for you!... Its great that you are incorporatin things such as (eating healthier, more regular meals, getting more exercise, sleeping better in general, spending more time with family, and reading at night before bed.)These are are really great healthier things to do for yourself Physically mentally and emotionally!...
Its great that you also doing positive things such as keeping a reading schedule as well as teaching a Kids Dance class! ...I teach Zumba myself and used to work with and teach kids also..(That can take a lot of work to keep up with them and keep them "engaged"! ) lol.... I'm sure you are doing an awesome job at it though. It sound like you really enjoy it. And yes, I agree, it is certainly motivation to stay and keep fit!....
Its also wonderful that you are keeping good ties and relationshiops and able to get the support you need from your mom and those around you!
Keep up the awesome work that you are doing for yourself and thank you so much for taking the time to check-in and letting us know how you've been doing!
@PoliteOcean
Thank you so much
This was an ok week for me. I am still not back on a regular schedule since before Christmas. My school has had 5 snow days in January right after our almost 2 week vacation. I am back to mostly eating better but not exercising as regularly. That is partly due to schedule and partly to my shoulder pain flaring up and my stomach upset issue. This week's schedule should be more normal.
@SadMe70
So glad to hear from you Sad!...... The winter weather has done the same thing here with the school systems as well. No school for several days..
Its hard to get back on track after so much time off. It can really make one become "lazy" in ways lolol...... Its like you get into this "mode" of not having to do much and sitting around all day because you dont' have to go to work or school especially after a long Christmas break.
I'm sorry to hear that you are still dealing with stomach troubles as well.. Have you had any further testing lately or have any better answers yet? I do hope that they get to the bottom of it for you soon!
Its great that you will finally be able to get back on better track this week and things can get a little back to "normal" for you!... I know it can really help when you are on some kind of routine or regular schedule! Before long it will be time for your Spring Break! lol.... Hang in there, and thank you so much for letting us know how you've been doing over the past week and overall! So good to see you this week.
