**This week went pretty decent.... I started off last weekend with lots of SelfCare.. just enjoying each day, and not allowing myself to worry, stress, or be concerned with the week ahead like I normally tend to do. As a matter of fact, I felt like I actually needed a break on Monday (which tends to be my busiest days with multiple classes to teach). I had the opportunity to cancel one of them since the attendance was going to be low with many being out that day for various reasons in my evening class. So.. I took the opportunity to just teach 'one' class that day in the morning and allowed myself to enjoy the rest of the day.
**I stayed on track throughout the week with activity, meal planning and just trying to stay in a good "headspace". Weather was decent, Spent some time in the pool and trying to get as much time as I can in it over these next few weeks before I have to close it till next season. Makes me a little sad since It feels like I just opened it up for the season?!!
..... Was able to get the doggie out for his walks and activities and continuing to find and enjoy "new" places in my neighborhood that I've been stumbling upon lately.
**Still continuing to look ahead as the end of the month is drawing near... we are planning a trip out of town in the coming week for our anniversary~ And going to the beach. I am so looking forward to it! And just being able to get away for awhile and enjoy different scenery for a bit~ I'm hoping that it allows both of us to clear our minds, find some better focus and perspective on things we have to come back to.. but mostly to just simply enjoy being away!
**No major plans this weekend.. intentions to do my usual Saturday morning walk at the track, and hopefully afterwards get another Meal replacement Shake & Tea Combo again at the new Nutrition store I found!! That was sooo amazing and I'm sure it will continue to become a very expensive habit!
...Then maybe a drive out, some minor shopping and then relax for the evening~
ENJOY THE WEEKEND~![]()
@PoliteOcean
It
The week was good, overall.
To end the week on a high note, I took a spontaneous jog this morning. The park was empty and filled with patches of water due to rains that we have been having. I managed to somehow jog around them while reminiscing old songs. All in all, great session :)
@DonaldDraper
Yay for jogging around the puddles! :p
This week has been a complete waste of time work-wise so its been a bit frustrating and slowly got the best of me as the week went on. My usual cell line died again, its been causing problems for almost a year now so we really need to figure out why its happening (might have the answer Monday/next week though, or at least cross out another potential cause!). I started something completely different on a technique I had never used before but I had been shown and explained everything so I was feeling pretty confident, yet it failed too. Considering I had started the experiment on Monday, tended to it Tuesday, Wednesday, read the results on Thursday, it really feels like time lost and got to me. And again Friday something else that I tried failed after I literally spent the day on it. Its research so I know fails are expected and normal, it was just tough to fail simultaneously on 3 different projects and started to feel a bit personal… Buuuut after one ice cream and 11 hours of sleep, Im feeling motivated again :p (sorry for that work rant!)
On another note, work out-wise, things have been great, especially considering my frustration with work has fueled my energy to workout! Sleep-wise its been quite okay, food-wise I still need to be careful and eat more.
This weekend Im planning on working out, relaxing and studying. Ive noticed some huge gaps on what I should know so as to understand things better/easier, and its been stressing me out lately so I really need to start studying more. Ill also probably do some minor shopping in town so as not to stay in my place all weekend. Next week Im really hoping that I can have a few more wins at work, as Id really like it if things could get unstuck before the end of the month!
@LinearWaves
Hello LinearWaves,
Setbacks at work and projects from time to time are just normal, don't get upset and keep on going. And it's ok also to vent it here, just stay focused and tell us the good news next week. Ice cream and a sleep is a great way to recover yourself. Work out went well, you are not wasting time and you'll do better next week. Kudos for the sleep-wise and food-wise efforts.
Hope your weekend went well as planned and see you next week.
@Traveller8
Thanks for your answer <3
Have a lovely week !
@LinearWaves
Hey there Waves!
Wow..so sorry to hear that you had such an "eventful" week with your work. (Putting it mildly
)...Seems like this has been a really frustrating week for you to say the least. Its tough when it seems like a bunch of "little things" all adding up to a major meltdown. Especially after putting in so much work and time. Thank goodness for the "Icecream and 11 WHOLE Hours of sleep that you got" to make it all feel better!... Wow.. I'm sure 11 hours of sleep felt great! And I'm glad to hear that you are now feeling motivated again! And.. that your frustrations have fueled your fire for working out!
I hope that the weekend was able to give you the time you needed for fitting in the studying that you want to get done and that your shopping trip found you feeling energized being able to get out and about!
Best of luck to you moving forward and that all your work "hopes and plans" come together for you the way that you desire (especially before the end of the month like you are hoping for)!... Thank you for checking in this week and keeping us up to date on things.. and for simply venting your frustrations and letting us know how you've been doing!
@PoliteOcean
Uneventful could actually define it better :p
Thanks for the kind words as always <3
@ PoliteOcean Here is how this past week went. Monday, I had an appointment with my psychologist. It went well. Tuesday someone came over to be interviewed to see if they want to be my caretaker. They already have 2 clients, so they don't know if they want to take on a third. Wednesday I had an appointment with my psychiatrist. It went well. My doctors can't do much for me right now because I spend most of my time simply getting them up to speed on my issues. My social worker brought over 4 pre-packaged lunches. The big news for this week is decided to drop my ancient history course. I know I said this last week, but for the past 2 1/2 years I've been struggling with feeling meaningless and purposelessness. I decided that I want to go into creative arts management. This is about the fifth time I've had to reconstruct my life from ground zero. Furthermore, with two trips to the hospital in the past 3 years and with living in a creepy house with creepy roommates and with creepy neighbors , my confidence and self-esteem has been ripped to shreds. The deacons at my church treated me like a piece of trash. All this to say that I'm taking "Economics History of the World Since 1400" It's a transition course to taking courses that are more business and mathematics oriented.
@Regmo
Hello Regmo,
The course you are taking seems interesting, hope you are learning and enjoying it. It's a pity you leave the Ancient History course but surely you'll manage your time and interests the best way. Good news that appointments with Psychologist and Psychiatrist went well. Hope the potential caretaker is the right one for you.
@Regmo
Hey there Regmo! WOW.. Sounds like you had a very busy and eventuful week with appointments and such. So good to hear that both your psych appointments went well for you!...Its good that you were able to interview another caregiver...But thats odd that they would come for the interview since they already had 2 other clients and not knowing if they wanted to take on yet a 3rd one. I'm surprised by that, that they even showed up. Perhaps they wanted to see the situation first, and possibly get rid of one of their other clients instead.... I've seen that happen. How great that your social worker brought you over some lunches. Hopefully they were to your liking! ... Good for you for trying to find your life "niche" and to continue to work on yourself and find the things that bring you joy. And get rid of the ones that don't. Creative arts sounds like fun. It might give you the fun factor and the meaning and purpose that you weren't able to find in your ancient history course. And how great for you that you are considering creative arts management. Good for you! Starting over isn't always easy. I have had to do that myself a few times (its seems). But we have to keep pushing and striving for the life we want and hope to live for ourselves. I know you have been through a rough time, and I hope that it starts to improve drastically for you. Staying on this path for yourself, I'm sure it will! Sorry to hear about the Deacons at your church. Thats a whole other story though we could get into! I was considering transitioning once into a different church, and kind of went through the same thing. Not helpful at all. I hope that you find yourself a church that accepts everything about you and continues to possibly help you on your road moving forward. And that you continue on a great path for yourself in improving your self esteem. Thanks for checking in this week and keeping us up to date on how things are continuing to go for you. Always great to hear from you.

@Rebekahwriter13
Hello Rebekawriter,
Ups and downs are just part of life, hormones or not, keep on going. Good that you have been doing your edition job on your friend's project. Good luck with the writers block, I a, sure you will overcome it. Helping others is a great way to be Mindful I think, an everyday task. Hope you find a practical way to help your friend, let us know next time how things are going.
@Rebekahwriter13
Hey there...
Its ok for things to be up and down.. as long as they aren't always down!..., I consider that a good thing as long as things are continuing to improve in some way.
Its great that you like helping others... I know you talk about your friends often and I can see how much you care about them and that they must really mean a lot to you since you are always wanting to help them and be there for them!
Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with writers block... I hope you get to clean, edit, write and cook as you were desiring and hoping to do!... And that things hopefully improve in the situation regarding your friend. I hope that they are able to find something or someone that can help them! Hopefully they have some places in their area that they can call, reachout or turn to. Like Food banks, churches, shelters and places like that , that can help them in their time of need or refer them to other places that can help!
Thanks for checking in this week and letting us know how things are going for you!
Doing alright.
While I'm annoyed about August, I have a presentation on Monday that I'm hoping will go smoothly. My social anxiety has been creeping in but I keep trying to remind myself that overall it's only 1 hour and 30 minutes of my life. I doubt anyone that I'm speaking to will have classes with me and public speaking makes many people nervous, social anxiety or not.
Hm I haven't been too mindful recently. I've been trying to honor some of my emotional needs. Lately I've been longing for childhood comforts, like movies and an old set of pajamas I practically lived in. I can tend to the movies part... and I've been scouring the internet for similar pajamas as a gift come December. That and watching old tv shows too have helped calm whatever's up with my inner child. Not sure I'd call it mindfulness though.
Hm... I spoke with a friend recently and asked her many questions about her life & a hobby we have in common (we were catching up). I think it made her feel good to talk about what she's been doing and things we both like. It's just been really lighthearted and I think that's the kind of convo she (and I) need. Definitely miss her
Near constant nausea / butterflies in my stomach has been a struggle all week long. I have been sleeping more (finally!) so that is a highlight. Another highlight is my therapist smiling. I worry about boring her, and I don't know how to talk about how serious my depression is anymore. I go to hotlines because that's what she tells me to do. I remind myself a yawn doesn't mean she's bored. Now to just get out of my own way and open up again, and maybe open up to the possibility of a different therapist.
**What are your weekend plans?!
Prep for this presentation. Watched some movies today, kept myself occupied as much as I could.
@Lexloveslife
Hello Lexloveslife,
It's Monday evening so the presentation happened already. Hope it went well for you, let us know next week.
Longing for childhood is not bad at all, we can find a lot of good memories that help us to browse through present. Watching old TV shows surely is a helpful and relaxing activity.
Good news that you are sleeping more. Hope you keep sleeping well and feel rested and better. And of course, keep yourself occupied as much as you can. See you next week.
@Lexloveslife
Hey there!..
Sounds like you've been making some pretty good strides for yourself...You're doing alright (which is great)....And despite the fact that you have a presentation that you werent looking forward to, you've managed to put some things about it into some perspective for yourself!... I hope it all went well! As its now Tuesday here, so Its all over and done with! Yay! How did it go!?
Good for you for honoring emotional needs....Thats important. And whether its movies and an old pair of comfy pj's or something else, taking the time to do what makes yourself "feel good" mentally, emotionally and physically is all about being self care and being "mindful" of yourself and your needs! Good for you!
How awesome that you were able to get to chat with your friend... lighthearted convos can be exactly what we need at times... nothing too deep. And its great that it made you BOTH feel great in the process.
YAY on good sleep! Thats a great highlight (despite the nausea and butterflies struggle)..... And.. ah yes, the "bored therapist thing".. I used to worry about that too in the past. The yawns, etc...That can be challenging when our minds play tricks on us like that, or tell us things that make us think negatively about a situation when its really not that way. Its great that you go to hotlines!... That is how I stumbled onto 7cups. The hotlines can be really great when you get the right person to chat with. And I hope that you are staying open to the possibility of finding a different therapist for yourself at some point. Having the right one can surely make a difference in getting the right help.
Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how things are continuing to go for you and for opening up and sharing your week with us.
@PoliteOcean
It went well, stuttered a lot at the end during the Q&A session.. and there were awkward moments of both me and the coordinator nodding because we didn't know what to say next... so we both kept on nodding lol but overall I think I won't remember the embarrassing moments too well. Got some good career advice and encouragement
**Hey Everyone~How have you been doing this week?
I thought I was doing better and then a friend called me out on it, plus I injured myself doing exercises Friday morning, so I guess not that well. And the washer broke downstairs, so this week has been frustrating.
**We are heading into the Last week of AUGUST~ What would you like to see happen or accomplish for yourself in the last week ahead this month?
It seems like just yesterday we had this prompt about July. August really is going by too fast for me. I want to read another book, heal from my injury, and be more disciplined about how I achieve my goals.
**Mindfulness and Healthy Living are two things that tend to go hand-in-hand with one another. In what ways do you feel that you were "Mindful' this week? (a goal, a meal, an activity, etc..)?
I don't really feel like I was that mindful this last week. My injury is making me mindful of steps and movement.
** What is something that you have done for "Someone else" recently that may have involved mindfulness OR just made you feel good Physically, mentally or emotionally?
I haven't done anything really helpful this last week for anyone else.
**What have been your "Highlights" Or "Struggles" over this past week?
My struggles have been with myself and having the argument with a friend. My highlights have been the determination by Social Security that I still have a disability even though I'm working and getting healthcare through Healthcare for Workers with Disabilities, which will cost, but not as much as a spend-down.
**What are your weekend plans?!
I might go into the walk-in clinic at the hospital on Sunday for my injury depending on how it is feeling. (Today).
@berryfields2409
Hello Berryfields,
At this time hope your injury is healed and you are fine. Yep, some days are not as good as other but surely you will leave frustration behind (and the washer will be repaired). August went fast as you said, I feel the same way, it's the last week already and summer is almost gone. Go on with the book you want to read. I am sure you will be disciplined and achieve the goals you want.
Regards,
My boyfriend is in juvi right now, so its been kind of hard for me, if i dont recive a letter from him every day i kinda freak out ahaha. But I have been writting him everyday, im extremley happy I finally found someone who want to change and grow with me. :)))
Im back after so many months of hiatus. I started my healthy living in June and have lost some weight. Did a detox challenge and lost some weight but alas gained it back after detox 🙄 didn't really sit well in my brain but im back to mindful eating, drinking water, and working out. And the gyms are opening Monday!!! Doing outdoor activity in this heat is a BIG no no so im excited for the gym. My home workouts are good but i dont usually put in 100% coz im at home lol
Anyways. Will check in again next post 😁
@Hasunohana
Hey there!
It great that you are back and jumping back into your healthy living journey!.... and that you are continuing to be mindful of your healthy habits. What type of Detox did you do? I would love to hear more about which one you did, or if it was something you put together on your own. Sorry to hear that you gained back from it even though you initially lost with it. Do you think you gained back b/c of your habits? Or were you still being mindful and healthy when it happened?
I like hearing all the details about how things go when members tell us about something they tried.
And YAY for your gym opening on Monday. Thats great for you. I'm currently teaching outdoors, so I know what you mean by the Heat. Indoors with A/C is surely better at this time of year. And yes, I would agree that sometimes those "home workouts" aren't as motivating as being able to be in person. But, thats just my opinion for myself... (As I'm sure there are some who actually prefer it, or that it is working out for!) And thats great for them too... I just know that when I'm a member, I liked to be pushed lol....or else I dont work as hard and dont feel as challenged.
Sounds like you are back and ready to put in some work for yourself and thats really great . Continue to keep up the great work that you are doing! And thanks so much for checking in .
@PoliteOcean
Hi! And thank you. I really need to be serious about this health journey, with Covid and all, I want to be as healthy as I can be and I also have my kiddos going on the journey with me.
Im not too bitter about my weight gain after detox. I know I gained them coz i didnt follow my mindful eating, planning, and exercise. My detox basically followed a Keto/Paleo concept. No dairy, grains, beans, processed oil, carbs, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol. Lots of fruits and vegetables and meat grilled, baked, or broiled. Used herbs and seasonings....Turmeric, cumin, himalayian salt and pepper. also used EVOO, and balsalmic vinegar. I did it for 10days. My coworkers were in the challenge as well. I lost inches as well as lbs during the 10days, I gained like 5 lbs but loosing it again since im back to mindfulness and exercises. Even 30 minutes of active and mindful activity is included
I am really excited about the gym, nervous, but happy about it. My family will have proper equipment to use and wont be bored or have an excuse not to work out hahaha
Thank you again, i am happy to be back, Having support and encouragement helps tremendously in this journey
@Hasunohana
Sounds like a bit of what I do when I do my own Detoxes as well....
Thats great that you are getting your mind, thoughts and head back into the game. I think many of us here have had some bumps especially during these past several months! But sounds like you are really doing a great job. Please continue to keep us informed about how things are continuing to go for you! We are here to support you in any way that we can.
