**This past week has been a little bit of the same.....I'm still in this place where I'm just trying to Maintain and Thrive like many others. I haven't really been Tracking or staying on plan much, I've just been doing some "Intuitive" meals for now as I'm still in "Self Care mode"~..... I taught all of my classes this week. Numbers have been Low as this time of Year Usually brings... (Which in way, I'd like there to be more) ... BUT..... in the times that we are in, I realize that I'm actually Ok with it too. As long as I can manage to Thrive with those who are in fact still coming. I've been seeing and hearing through News outlets that Numbers Of Cases are on the Rise again, and for the first time this past week, I actually allowed a little anxiety about all of it to get to me even though I take precautions etc..... Even with my classes, we have limited spots ... and required spacing. And only so many can attend and be there anyway. And the spots are Never Full. I'm Ok with that right now too..... I have decided to Take a break after this week. I will finish up the coming week ahead, and then Done until after the New Year. And in that time, I will Re-evaluate what I'm going to do, or want to do moving forward.
**I can't believe we are now Officially 2 weeks away from Christmas!?
..... And I realize I really need to get moving and finish getting the last of the things I need to get. This year as Eventful as its been, has just been a HUGE Whirlwind it seems. As much as we have gone through, its all gone by faster than any other year it seems. Even with all the lockdowns.
**Last weekend we drove to the Mountains and looked at a little Christmas town... and all the lights and horse-drawn carriages etc.... It was all really pretty. Stopped in one of my favorite stores got a few things.... This weeked, there is going to be a "DRIVE-Through" Christmas parade!.. Everything will be "Stationary" as spectators actually "Drive through" instead, and look at all the Christmas stuff. lol...Kind of Reversed, & Very different. But there will be some small business open to get food, or do minor shopping as well.Not thinking we will do any of that, but it will be nice to drive through and look at everything!.... So that is one of our intentions for this weekend. And then just preparing to finish up my last week ahead before my break~
ENJOY THE WEEKEND~
@PoliteOcean
My week has been pretty good actually. I had some downs at the beginning of the week but it got a lot better
Usually winter is a negative time for me because I have a mental illness called SAD (seasonal affective disorder). I listen to a lot of Christmas music and try to get myself in the Christmas spirit by watching movies and that helps when I am feeling low. I also have been playing Among Us and that has been helping me to feel happy lately.
Every year, my family does seceret santa and I find myself walking around the store for an hour because I am not sure what to get the person in a 15 dollar budget. This year, it was different because we all just ordered online. Its not that big of a deal but I just like to laugh at myself for walking all around the store for so long whereas this year it took me about 20 minutes to find what I wanted to get my person.
I focused on spending more time with loved ones and socializing which isnt something I like to do a lot but it was actually pretty nice
Watching movies with a cup of hot chocolate and petting my dog.
My highlights are: I got to spend time with my friends, my principle is finally letting me go virtual for a class that I hate, and one of my favorite social media sites became unblocked on my school laptop. My struggles have been: my 7cups account getting deactived, my parents, and things not going completely well with my boyfriend and I. I coped with these things by talking to my best friend about some of them and talking to my boyfriend about the others.
@frostbitten333
Hey there!
Its good for you that despite having some ups and downs , that things got better for you through the week!
Sorry to hear that you suffer from SAD... I know how challenging that can be. And its good that you are doing your best to try to stay on top of that and do things that you enjoy. Thats really important to have a "Focus"!
Thats really nice that you all do a Secret Santa! ... I really dislike trying to figure out on my own what to get someone lol.... I like "Christmas LISTS" .. at least then I have something to go on! lol...I must say, I too and grateful for online shopping! lol...
Thats really nice that you spent your time focusing on your loved ones. I feel like that is alot about what this month holds (for me personally). Just being with the ones and making more time for those who mean the most to us!
Watching Movies, a hot cup of chocolate and petting the dog sounds like a lovely and perfect time. .... I love doing the same!
Sorry to hear about some of your struggles, but despite those, its good to hear that you had many Positive Highlights to help counter act those! Spending time with friends, and going virtual for a class you really dislike sounds really great! I can understand how happy that must've made you feel!
Hope that you are having a great week! Thank you for checking in this week and letting us know how things are going for you!
@frostbitten333 I find bright white light bulbs are very effective for combating SAD in winter!
@PoliteOcean Here is how the past week went. Monday I had a therapy appointment, and later I did a little grocery shopping but then also went for a walk by the water. I worry sometimes that my leg muscles are going to atrophy because of lack of exercise. I live in a creepy nieghborhood so it's really unpleasant to go outside. Wednesday I went to the chiropractor for only the second time this year. I've had to bail out of 3 out of the last 5 chiropractor appointments because my rides kept on bailing out on me. Friday I submitted a blood and urine sample for my doctors. I'm having my hemoglobin checked as well as my kidneys. The good news is that I have my first acupuncture appointment scheduled for Jan 15th. I've been waiting 8 years for this, so hopefully nothing happens to disrupt it. For this upcoming week I have a therapy appointment for Monday, and also a psychiatry appointment for Friday. I'm still studying my statistics.
@Regmo
Hey there Regmo!... Sounds like you had a busy Monday! Its great that you were able to do a little grocery shopping as well as get a chance to go for a walk near the water. I love being near the water. It can be really relaxing. I can understand your concern regarding your leg muscle (being a nurse etc..). Its really great that you are able to take that walk and I hope that you are able to get more chances to do so. Its great for you that you were finally able to get to the Chiropractor despite your ongoing challenges to get there recently! Its great that you are keeping up with your appointments and blood work and doing your best to try to stay on top of things. And hopefully you won't have too many issues with those moving forward. Hope that all went well with your appointments so far this week, as well as later in the week too. Good to hear that you are still staying on top of doing the things that you enjoy too, like your statistics. Thank you so much for checking in this week, and continuing to keep us informed and up to date on things. Sounds like you've had a pretty decent week! ![]()
This last week has been good, still it seems like I blink and the day is over.
December is a really good time of year for me usually and this is no different. Usually my holidays start around Halloween and continue through Asian New Years. This year we have been teleconferencing for Thanksgiving and Christmas which worked really well and brought up everyone's spirits.
This year I decided to get a necklace and one other gift for me. I decided on Sharpie Art Pens, since I love those and they are a luxury I usually wouldn't afford myself. One tradition I can do is to set out my Christmas Angel and play Christmas music through my headset to enjoy the season.
I cut out artificial sweeteners, but it was my sister's birthday so i didn't manage to avoid sweets or cake.
Sipping hot chocolate and watching the snow is my favorite winter activity.
Struggles and Highliights: I found out one of my medications could be a contributing factor to my hip fracture, so I have some hard decisions to make in the future.
@AvidGamer293
Hey there!... (I love your username by the way!.. It reminds me of my Son who is actually an Avid Gamer as well his whole life! lol)...
Its so great that you are doing well and that the month of December is a good one for you. I agree, it seems like that holiday feeling starts setting in around Halloween. It all goes so fast after Halloween gets here! ...Its so good that you are able to teleconference with those you care about and that its keeps everyone "close" and keeps those spirits up during these times!
What lovely gifts you were able to buy! ... I love to play Christmas music too. What is your favorite Christmas song?
How good for you for being able to cut out artificial sweetners. That is such a good healthy habit for those who are able to do so. I know it can be challenging to do for many who enjoy certain sweets. And its ok to indulge a little on special occasions (like your sisters birthday!) As long as you enjoyed!... Great job, Keep up the great work!...
Sipping Hot chocolate and watching the snow is a wonderful tradition!.. I miss the snow. I grew up in a place where it snowed all the time in the winter. Now I live in a place where we are lucky to see it "once" a year. And if we get it, it doesn't last very long and usually melts the next day. So enjoy!
And oh no!.. Sorry to hear about the medication issue! I do hope that you are able to figure things out moving forward. And that you are able to find something that will be alot more beneficial for you! Please keep us updated on that and how things go moving forward. Thank you so much for checking in this week to let us know how you've been doing!
Yeah it's wild the month ends in 2 weeks! I feel positive at times, negative at others. More positive than negative though. My negatives: I still have no hunger and college ends for me soon. Positives: I've been taking leisure time for myself, doing finals, sleeping better, & working out regularly, drinking more herbal tea
Hm new tradition... I'm not sure. I don't really have traditions that have been shifted, most of mine are things I do alone anyway. Exercising has been my healthy habit this week. Watching Christmas movies or watching others decorate their homes are at a tie for the top winter activity I enjoy. I like interior design especially during the holidays but this year does not feel Christmas-y at my parents' house. So I guess movies takes the cake
Thanks for the check-in, hope everyone's well or getting there
@Lexloveslife
Hey there Lex!...
Sounds like despite some of those situations you considered "negative" that you have many more positives that outweigh them! And its great that you noticed that too! Keep up the great work there!
Thats awesome that you have been making the time to create healthy habits by making the time to workout recently! Good for you. Great job. What types of workouts do you find you enjoy most?!
I love watching Christmas movies too. Which ones are you favorite? Do you like more of the Cartoons, or More Live/Real-life?
So glad to see you join us this week for check-in! You sound like you have been doing good and that things seem to be going really well for you!.... Its great to hear from you. And thank you for keeping us up to date on things and letting us know how you've been doing~
@PoliteOcean
Hi Ocean! Thanks, glad to be here! - sorry i made that a separate post.
Great questions. I enjoy cardio the most, any cardio exercise. I took a break from it Tuesday to let my knees recover / practice my footstrike in the mirror and I missed it. If I had to pick a strength exercise: planks or mountain climbers
Animation, I saw more of it growing up each year & it strongly influenced my appreciation for art. I'm a fan of the Rankin/Bass stop motion animations (like Rudolph), A Charlie Brown Christmas, and the How the Grinch Stole Christmas animation. For live action movies: Home Alone 1, Miracle on 34th Street (1940s one), and the Jim Carrey remake of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I'm probably gonna hit send and then think of a bunch of others I enjoy lol
What are your favorite movies & exercises? What does your workout routine look like?
@Lexloveslife
Hey there!.. No worries! You can post however often you'd like! :)
Thats great that you like and enjoy cardio so much. The thing about Cardio is that we can do it as much as we'd like. Because its so beneficial to us, our lungs, our heart etc.. It gets the blood moving and circulating and helps keep skin, hair and nails healthy as well as the rest of us!
Its good that you were able to know when it was time to take a break! I did the same thing. I hurt my leg a few months ago and its still kind of on the mend. And overcompensating for that injury is kind of bothering my knee now as well, even though the rest of it is healing. So I will definitely, finally be taking a break myself like I should have done to begin with.
I LOVE Planks too... its such a great "stationary" move that works our entire body and 'core'! ... (Now mountain climbers?!!)
.. Those will really work you, thats probably why I avoid them! lol... But that is Awesome for you that you like and are able to enjoy the harder workouts that some tend to avoid.
Oh I love your Christmas picks!... Those are actually some of my favorites as well!...I've been watching those my whole life. Great choices! I like alot of the "Animated ones too"!... All those you mentioned, as well the original Frosty,.... and some of the TV hits like (Its a wonderful Life, ELF, A Christmas Story) etc...MY ALL TIME FAVORITE though is "A CHRISTMAS CAROL"!~ I love the older black and white versions, But LOVE ANY version of it that I can find or get my hands on. (Animated, TV, etc..) And its funny how there are so many versions done of it. I think its the "Ghosts" that really drew me too it. lol ( I like Ghost movies and stories).
My Favorite Exercise is absolutely ZUMBA Fitness... I love to dance. It was my 'gate-way' into exercise and working out. Because it was something I enjoyed. Once I became more fit and became an instructor, It opened up other taste of BOOTCAMP style workouts. I love stuff like that. A little "Hardcore" (Intervals, Planking, Weights) ... I absolutely love weighted routines too!
Thanks for sharing and thanks for asking as well! Hope you are having a great week~`
