🌞 This past week went well overall, and went by quickly. It was also quite busy keeping up with various things.... I kept on track with all my goals for the most part, and getting excited over some possibilities that can help propel me into doing even better going forwards. And I'm hoping to make some more successful progress towards my goals by the year's end. I also kept up with appointments, and got to chat with some long-distance family that I haven't chatted with in awhile.
🌴 This past week the weather has been pretty amazing. It continued to be beautiful and sunny here. I continued with my workouts & group fitness classes, & I got out and enjoyed the outdoors with my pup. Various home projects have been done throughout the week. I continued some light journaling. And have been getting ready throughout the week for my last 'Summer' vacation of the season. I have also continued making some minor steps towards instructing/subbing again.
🍍 I'm getting ready to leave for vacation in the morning. And this is typically my 'Biggest/longest' trip of the Summer season. I am celebrating an important occasion this weekend and looking forwards to it and just being away. My body (and mind) have been a little tired, and I could use this time away to refocus, refresh, and regroup as we get ready to enter the last quarter of this year. As this upcoming time of the year tends to be my busiest part of the year.
@PoliteOcean
Hi, Ocean,
Is it appropriate to congratulate you on whatever you're celebrating? If so, congrats. You deserve love and blessings. I hope you have a great vacation, too. You're so disciplined. That's very inspirational.
Hey Everyone~ Posting this check-in a little "earlier" this week.... How are you doing and feeling this week?... This has been a week in ***. I had panic attacks and was in tears a lot. One of my professors means well, but she is a ball of complication. She doesn't speak english well and doesn't understand english well. I reached out to my advisor who defended her. I applied to the office of disability services and they accepted me. So, they will be working to make school a little less stressful for me. I aldo had a panic attack over an online order I placed. It's been a rough week, and I am painfully aware that I am going through all this alone.
🌴What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?...... How were you able to work through your challenges?! My alcoholism was raging but I did not drink. My mind kept trying to get me to go to the liquour store to buy vodka, but I didn't give in. I remembered that last time I was in school, I was a drunk. I ended up dropping out and was let go from my job. I realized that I am in a much better place, mentally. I've grown a lot and have learned how to lean on my inner strength. I've learned what I want from life, like good people in my life, and can see myself working through school to give myself the life I deserve.
🍍 What is something that "YOU" want to talk about, add or share with us this week?! ....WE want to hear from YOU!~
@purpleTree4652
A big thumbs up for staying sober.....you are very strong for making it through school and not falling back on an old "go to" for stress relief. You can do this, school, the job, staying sober.....it will all work out and get easier as you get adjusted.....reach out if you need to....there is plenty of support here on 7cups.
@purpleTree4652
Hey there Tree~ Thank you so much for your lovely well wishes. They are sincerely appreciated! ❤️ That is so very sweet of you. I’m celebrating my anniversary.
I do have to say though that I truly Believe that YOU are the disciplined & inspirational one. After all the things that you have been through and continue to fight for and work towards! You are amazing. And it’s something to surely be so very Proud of.
Im so sorry to hear that you were dealing with panic episodes this past week. I can personally attest that can make for a very difficult and challenging time. And it certainly doesn’t help when we have to deal with difficult people on top of it. And Im truly sorry that you didn’t get the help that you reached out for in regards to your professor situation.
But I think That’s really great for you that applying to the office of disability services was a success! And that they can make efforts to help you going forwards! That is at least one less stressor for you I hope?! And please just remember that you are never alone! We are here to support you at 7cups.
It’s also great for you that you are looking forwards to things. Such as starting a new job! Yay! Congrats! As I know how very important that has been for you. Im sure you will do so great with it. Because it’s something that you wanted and desired for yourself. And worked to accomplish!
And I think it’s awesome that with all you’ve been dealing with that you are continuing to strive to improve things for yourself however you can!…(Thinking constructively, wanting to reach out for help, eliminating things that aren’t working in your life, and focusing on what’s important)!
🌞 Hey Everyone~ Posting this check-in a little "earlier" this week.... How are you doing and feeling this week?...
I'm doing well and I feel I'm in a pretty good space right now.
What is something that you can do to continue in your 'Wellness' Journey going forwards and beyond this month?
🌴What were your "Highlights Or Struggles" of the week?......
This weeks highlight was finding out I will have a new immediate supervisor. I was second in charge of my section and the immediate supervisor I used to have was weak supervisor. He was a terrible leader and supervisor. I met with him yesterday and we had a long talk. There will be a lot of changes. I'm happy with his ideas and plan. I'm not so sure those under us will be happy with them but we will see how it goes...I'm confident and a little happier with my situation at work.
How were you able to work through your challenges?!
My challenges were catching up on all the things I had to catch up with at work after my vacation. I managed them just fine, by taking it not one day at a time, but hour by hour.
🍍 What is something that "YOU" want to talk about, add or share with us this week?! ....WE want to hear from YOU!~ I traded in my full size 2010 GMC V8 truck with 130 thousand miles on it for a new(er) 2019 4 cylinder Buick Envision with 23.000 miles that gets 28 to 30 plus miles to the gallon....While I'm not real happy about going from no vehicle payment to having a payment, I'm excited to have a more comfortable ride, better gas milage, and more bells and whistles in the vehicle.
@CyclingThroughLife
Hey there Cycling~
That’s so great for you that you are doing well this week and feeling that you are in a good space for yourself. And that you had a great month and enjoyed it overall.
I used to live up North myself for almost half my life before moving south. I do so remember those lovely fall days with the changing leaves (that actually changed bright, vibrant, amazing colors), and of course the start of various sports seasons. I guess I must have missed somewhere along the way that you still had a child in highschool 🤔…. But my goodness I certainly remember that too and I know how this time of year with them can surely keep one busy! (And of course I can’t forget the amazing “pumpkin spice everything”). My personal fall favorite….. But I hope you all enjoy the amazing soccer season ahead. That’s a really fun sport. I remember it well.
@PoliteOcean
You didn't miss anywhere that I still had a son in high school. I don't think I've ever mentioned it. There are a lot of things I've never mentioned. My first two boys I had with my first wife. We were both young, just 22 years old, not long in the military, I thought I found "the one". Ended up divorced 10 years later. It was a bad divorce....we get along now....I think its the grandchildren that does it....anyway, I moved home, reconnected with the girl I dated for most of my high school time, She was also single from a failed relationship with 2 young girls. Things clicked and we later got married. Now I had 2 boys and 2 step girls. Then came along the youngest. He was planned. He is 15 now. My wife was diagnosed with advanced Breast Cancer in 2014. It ended up spreading and she passed 14 days prior to the one year anniversary of her diagnosis. The girls were older but our son was only in the first grade. Tough times. A few years later I got into a relationship with the woman I am with now. We've been friends since were 6 years old. Grew up together, but never dated. As adults, in our mid/late 40s, we figured why not give it a shot, and it has worked out wonderfully. She has two boys of her own, they are both also out of school and grown (its like a regular Brady Bunch around here...lol) While we do live together, we both agree that we will never get married. There it is...me in a nutshell....
@CyclingThroughLife
oh wow, what a very interesting “story”. I really enjoyed reading through it and getting to know you better. I’m so sorry to hear about your 2nd wife. How very difficult that must have been. I can’t even imagine…. I always think about the “kids” In situations like that (as a mother myself).. To not really have the chance to get to know his mom…. But I’m sure you’ve done wonderfully with him. And how amazing for you to have found love not only once but Twice in a lifetime. And starting off as friends makes it even better. While I love the Brady Bunch, your story also reminded me of the old Lucille Ball movie (Yours, mine, & Ours)! Lol 😂 ….Great movie by the way if you’ve never seen it!
My husband and I have a slightly similar story as well. We just never had an “ours” of our own together.
Again thank you for sharing your story. I felt like I was engrossed in a great book! Have a great weekend ahead.
@PoliteOcean
This week has been quite hard. This is one of the busiest times of the yea at work. My insurance denied my medication and not only did I go through withdrawal (nausea, dizziness, agnation and anger.) I am not getting the benefits of the medicine either.
@Gettingbettertoday
I'm sorry your insurance denied your medication. It seems to be a common thing. I read and hear more and more of it. A couple months ago I needed a script for an antibiotic. (don't remember what it was) The Dr. wrote it for 3 pills taken every 72 hours. My insurance would only pay for 2 of this type of antibiotic. Pharmacy couldn't tell me why.....he was just as confused as I was.....I ended up paying for the other pill. The medical system seems broken. But that is a conversation for another thread at another time. I hope you feel better and get through this busy time at work.
@Gettingbettertoday
Hey there! It’s so nice to see you this week.
So sorry to read that it’s been a hard week for you. I do know that this can surely be a busy season. We are so sorry for you that your insurance denied your meds. I do know how challenging and difficult that can be. Especially when you need it or can’t afford to get it. I do hope that situation resolves for you.
Have you tried googling the manufacturer of the med? Sometimes they have coupons that can help. Or also try the app “GoodRx”. It might be able to help you afford it or maybe another alternative?
Good luck. And thank you for checking in this week to share with us. We are here fir you! Please keep us updated on how things are going for you.
