**This past week has gone well... I got back to teaching my Fitness classes, (Zumba; Zumba Gold; and POUND).... and managed to get sucked into Subbing for someone else at the last minute as well)...It was I guess an eventful week getting back into everything.... I wasn't sure I was ready. I enjoyed the time off, the holidays, and the self-care too much!... Things went well. Although, ....To be honest, I was kind of hoping for "More" of a turn-out with it being the New Year which is when everyone heads back to the gyms, or working out etc... With it being the "first FULL" week after the Holidays, I thought the turnout for all of our instructors classes seemed on the "Lower" side....And it really surprised me... Not sure why. I know all I can do is concentrate on what "I" am doing to try to ensure a successful class. Its been challenging trying to come up with new Music and Choreo for "THREE" separate Formats...... I really wanted to go into the New Year and get everyone "Pumped-up" Feeling good with good vibes~ While I'm always happy to have Students since I can't have a class without them, I am wishful that next week will be even better.~

**I kept on track with most other things (Water and Sleeping) were great during my Holiday time, but have been Sub-par yet once again. So its back to the "drawing board" with those two things again...... The weather here, while its been very nice this week, its also been kind of colder. I did manage to get out with my dog for a brief walk outside of classes and to let him enjoy as well.~

**I tried to get most of my errands taken care of here and there throughout the week, so that I really wouldn't have much to do this Saturday, (Making this 'FREE' day, just that)!..... There's the Bi-monthly POUND class at the local warehouse, and my intention is to go there to get my daily activity in. But, I just didn't want to have any other "errands" to attend to today~ So hoping to relax more today over-all.

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND~yes

Heya, Ocean! Glad to hear this week has been good for you! Out of curiosity and probably forgetfulness, whats Xumba Gold? The difference between that class and Zumba? Hopefully, there will be a better turn up next week! Maybe everyone is enjoying the holiday and self-care period too much, too! ;)

Ahh, keeping track of our health... our health in general has lots of ups and downs, doesnt it? Wonder if theres some other ways to keep on track of water- some ways of keeping it in sight wherever you go? Or adding flavour to it for more of an incentive to drink? I found some odd ways of making myself drink and it worked xD

Eek, cold weather! Probably have forgotten yet again (do we see a trend here? Whats new :p) but do you prefer hot or cold weather??

Smart move! Love the organisation and pre-planning involved on your part to make Saturday just that much easier and free-er! What are your plans for relaxation today? :)

Take care! xx

Hey Rebecca :)

Zumba is regular for anyone to join in, and is more of a "Higher" Intensity........ Zumba "GOLD" is for everyone to join as well, but its lower intensity, no jumping or twisting of any sort, and more geared towards those wanting or needing lower impact (Beginners, Seniors, Debilitated or physically disabled etc...)

And yeah, as far as turnout for the coming week, yes, I agree, I hope that our facility sees more of it!

As far as getting my water in, I do have a tracker app, that goes with my New Water bottle.... I love water and its really all I drink...I think the issue lies within "feeling" thirsty enough to drink. In the winter months that tends to be lower for me of course..

And I definitely prefer "Hotter" weather... I love the summer time. Swimming, the beach, the sun, longer days, etc....While winter is ok, I normally am ready for it to be over once Christmas is done. It might not be so bad if we actually got some "snow". Where I live now, in the South USA, They aren't used to seeing or getting snow here often so... when it happens EVERYONE goes crazy and EVERYTHING shuts down lol.... its great.. Because you get to be lazy for days and not have to do anything lololol.... cheeky

As far as my plans today, I just went to the local POUND class at the warehouse and got in some activity, and I've been hibernating under my blankets staying warm with my dog ever since I got home! lol....

Take care! smileyheart

Heya, Ocean! Im finally back answering another checkin :) my week so far has been alright! Its been a crazy roller coaster of extreme temperatures aha not super extreme, but like cold and rainy for 2-3 days and then today was burning hot again. As it will be for the rest of the week too, which means well probably have a thunderstorm again in a week or two. Weve had 3 or 4 so far this summer, and its only been 6 weeks. Crazy! Work wise, its been alright too. Not much going on there tbh! Study has been alright, havent done as much as Id like though. Good news though- my high school friend is coming to study at my uni, at my campus! You have no idea how rare that is haha in a grade of 210 people, zero people study at my campus and only one person studies at my uni xD its not that its a bad uni, just has had a bad reputation for a few years. But the allied health part of the uni is pretty darn good, so Im happy.

So far my goals are alright! I know Im reaching them slowly but surely. I havent made monthly goals though, just yearly. Did a 20 before 2020 list for this year- finally remembered to try it out this year! And I only have 8 so far, but itll build!

Ooh... something healthy I did for myself was to start exercising a tiny bit again. Following a 100 abs challenge thingy, but instead of diving right into it, Im only doing 10 reps a day. Easing myself back, and hopefully in February or March, Ill try the 100 reps everyday! However, I havent really stayed up to date on it... been coming back home super late the past few days due to work. And its 11:40pm now aha

Weekend plans include working tomorrow (Sunday) and being beside my sister. Shes going through a tough patch right now, and we all only found out today. Funny thing is, as a kid, I always thought she had everything set for her. Great grades, great school, great at sports, sociable, funny, very intelligent... and now, I realise more and more that shes not a super special person (which is what I always saw her as, a deviant from the norm). Shes got problems, as does everyone else. She doesnt have everything. Its a weird thing to have to deal with!

Anyway, talk later! I like to ramble xD

@rebecca947

Hey there Rebecca! Its so nice to have you back and responding, as well as being supportive and telling us how you've been doing as well!

You are always such a positive person here in the Subcom and we love to hear from you!

Sounds like you've been having some crazy weather?! Like us too.. lol.. we have had some mild days with rain, and then when it finally gets "sunny" its Cold!!?!.. lol...

Nice to hear that things are going well with work, studies, and having your friend come!.. How fun for you! Things are always alot more fun when you get to do them with friends!>. I will have to message you a story about my very 'FIRST" job.. it was the worst, but having my best friend there with me at the time and another one, made it so much more bearable lol...

I'm glad to hear that you "goals" are going well, and a "20 before 2020" sounds AMAZING!!.. I LOVE that idea!!.... How awesome!.. Can you share "some" of the things on that list? IT doesn't matter how slowly you are starting out, or taking to reach your goals, all it matters is that you "Start"! Taking the first steps toward a better you!... It can be challenging to start, and then get side-lined with other things, but as long as you keep going you will never fail!...

I hope that whatever is going on with your sister manages to get resolved for her, and for the rest of you that will be there to support her. Its difficult to watch a loved one go through a challenging time. And yes, its really easy to think that someone else has it so much better than you... but I slowly started to realize as I got older that the "grass is NOT always greener on the other side"... You know?!... And as you said, no matter how perfect someone else's life might seem, we all eventually have gone through an issue or struggle. But its so great that she has you to help her through it and be there for you!....

Thank you so much for checking in and letting us know how things have been going!... Its so great to hear from you again! Continue to take care!!

Aww, thanks so much for the compliments! ❤️ :) yeah, today was boiling hot and having to wear black work pants doesnt help xD with no air con in the store... talking of that, I REALLY need to buy a mini electric fan from this store tomorrow...

Some of the things on my list! - one self-care day a month - read 12 books, one a month - buy a big washi tape holder xD (I have around 42 tapes and more coming...) - somehow overcome fear of failure (probably wont happen within a year, but one can dream!)

And yes please, Id love to hear about your first job!!

Hey there Melli!

Its great that you are working on your daily goals (even if you get distracted by friendships here and there) Its great to have friends to get "distracted" by though right?!... Not everyone can say that they have really good friendships....so thats a positive for you.

Also congrats to you on being able to continue to work on not isolating yourself... I know that can be challenging. I'm kind of an "introvert" until I get to really know someone, and even then, it doesn't mean I always want to be around them lol.....(Not unless we are just really close or connected in a great way) at least....

Glad that things are going well for you, continue to keep up the great work you are doing.... Don't work too hard, and have fun in all of your friendships! Thanks for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing!

Busy week but getting on track. I think I am finally breaking the extra holiday calorie consumption. I just decided the holidays are over and get back to your normal routine which is easy to break over the holidays. Trying to keep food intake at moderate levels. Holiday cookies and extra tempting items are out of the house which makes it easier to stay on track. Normally I do not crave homemade cookies, but when available hard not to eat them. The weather has been cold, but layer of clothing allows outdoor exercise. Yesterday was at 30F and sunny, was able to get full walk for exercise. Gloves, hat and three layers of clothing did help. Time goes so fast which is good since only 68 days to Spring. smileyToday is 25F surpriseand sunny, will still try for outside walk. I do like crisp clean air especially near the beach with the fresh ocean air. A cup of tea after the walk helps. Do have an exercise bike but like to get outdoors. Enjoy your weekend.

Hey Sail!

Wow, things are going really well for you in the past week! Moving forward after all the holiday treats/temptations.. thats good! I know it was really challenging for me. Once I got into that "mode" it was hard to break it!...

Sounds really colder where you are.... Our weather has been in the 30's overnight, and 50's for high during the day, but it seems SOOOO much chillier. I am in "awe" that you are still walking in those temps! AWESOME for you! I just can't do it. LOL... I simply cannot tolerate the chillier weather. Its like it just chills me to the core of my bones!... I've always wondered how cold it actually got at the beach during the Winter months... I love the Beach SOOO much, and have often thought, that might be the "one" condition where I might do some "winter" walking, (if I lived really close to one). I probably would. You're very blessed to live so close to the beach for sure!

I have an exercise bike as well, but it gets used to hang stuff on more often than anything else! Do you ever use yours at all??... How often are you able to tolerate it?.... I get bored easily lol...

Great job at continuing to stay on track for yourself, and getting back on after the holidays!.... Thank you so much for checking in and continuing to keep us up to date on how things are going for you!

@PoliteOcean

I use the exercise bike as a last resort. Exercise bike is boring even with a movie on. I prefer walking outdoors as the scenery is nice with horse farms up the road and the beach only 15 minutes away. I really need fresh air to exercise and outdoor walking works best for me.

yes I Completely agree! Outdoor walking in the fresh air and scenery is so much better. Especially with the warmer months ahead that will soon be upon us!

Counting the days down! Lol

until then, keep enjoying your winter walks! You are so awesome!

My week's been alright so far. I'm getting ready to start two new jobs and the new semester at college, so I'm a little stressed, but also super excited about everything that's happening

How have the goals that you set for yourself this month been going so far?

This month I set a goal to start lifting free weights at the gym. And so far I'm doing really good. I started lifting barbells this week and intend on implementing dumbells within the next month or so once I'm able to bench about 100 lbs or so. I also gave up running because I hate it and took up cycling and rowing, and am having so much more fun with my workouts now!

In what ways did you "stay on plan" for yourself? In what ways do you feel you were "off track"? What things do you feel could benefit you to help you stay on track or meet your goals for yourself?

I stayed on plan for myself by cooking more food and ordering less food for myself. I felt a little off track because I bought a lot of junk food at the grocery store, but I think that making a grocery list and meal planning can help me with meeting my goals.

What is something "Healthy" that you've done for yourself this past week (Physically, Mentally or Emotionally)? How did it make you feel afterward?

This week I started eating healthier breakfasts like oatmeal, eggs, and healthy cereal instead of something full of sugar or worse, no breakfast. It made a huge change in my mental and physical states; I feel like I have more energy and I'm actually able to get to lunch without needing a snack halfway through the morning.

What have been your "highlights" this past week? What are your weekend plans?

Oh goodness. Um... I guess some of my highlights this past week have been that I also started a new skincare regimen and my acne scars have already started to fade and my occasional acne has also started going away faster. I also was able to deadlift 95 lbs, which was pretty cool. I have a lot of pre-semester meetings this weekend, but I'm super excited because I'm getting my first tattoo this afternoon! It's gonna be a little dragonfly on my wrist and I'm really happy about it.

@HobbitsandElves

Hey there!.. So great to hear from you!

Wow sounds like you will have a pretty busy time ahead of you! But its so great that you are staying and remaining positive about things and what the future will hold with all of it!

That is awesome the goals you are making for yourself... I wanted to start lifting Free weights as well, and not give into so much cardio. I keep saying I will do it, but I only manage to get weights in about "once" a week. I'd prefer more. And that is Awesome that you are cycling and rowing! I just got a Rowing machine for Christmas!.. I still have yet to use it though! lol.... You have inspired me to use it today!... I haven't had a chance to use mine too much since I also instruct fitness classes,... time just gets away from me. I hope that your time doing it goes much better than mine! lol I'm so glad that you are having more fun with it all!

AWESOME and AMAZING job on eating healthier!.. And for making such Great choices too!... I love eggs and Oatmeal and have them for breakfast almost daily. Great job! What do you like to eat on your oatmeal? Or how do you like to prepare your eggs and oatmeal?! Keep up the awesome work that you are doing here! It will make you feel so much better!

Also, how great for you that you have found a skincare routine that is helping you! That is surely a positive plus!... I know it can be challenging for some to "face the world" when they don't always feel their "best" or feel "confident" in their own skin. I'm glad that its working for you! Congrats on the "Deadlift" too! AND Awesome about the Tattoo!..... Perhaps sometime you could "upload" a photo and show us the style of tattoo that you received! I have a few "small" ones myself. I always wanted one on my wrist too...

Thank you so much for checking in the past week and letting us know how things have been going for you!... Sounds like things have been going very well for you and very positive! Keep up the great work you are doing!

Thanks so much for your response! I'm happy to hear that you were inspired to use your rowing machine, and don't stress the free weights too much; it took me a couple weeks to get comfortable with it.

I like scrambled eggs the best with a little bit of hot sauce, and I usually prep my oatmeal with a few banana slices with cinnamon and a little bit of brown sugar. It's a little sweet, but I like it that way.

I'm so tired now... It's been quite a hard day, but I wanted to write something anyways.
I did my first workout but then I couldn't keep up. I'm drinking more though, and sleeping more regularly since I asked my partner if he could help me, waking me when he does, having breakfast together and always having dinner. It works. I'm also able to eat all my meals and cook when necessary. So I couldn't start an exercise routine, but I could improve other things, so I'm happy with this first week.
I'm having a hard time managing anxiety lately. A really hard time.

I think you are making some AWESOME first steps with everything... You've created a little "schedule and routine" for yourself!... And that is great. Something to help you stay on track with things, and to give you a 'purpose' when you get up and start your day each day!

Awesome start! You are doing a great job!...

I'm sorry to hear that your anxiety levels are not improving at the moment, but I think once you do start to get more into your routine for yourself, and maybe "add" a little more at a time, then you may be able to start seeing some improvement with the anxiety as well!...

Thank you for checking in and for keeping us up to date on how things have been going! Remember, we are here to support you, and by checking in, it can help to keep you accountable each week on your journey!

**How has everyone's week been so far?! It's been up and down. I'm trying to focus on my writing, but I think I have to process a things emotionally first.

**We are almost "Half" way through the month already?!... How have the goals that you set for yourself this month been going so far? I'm good with my word count, but the projects I'm working on were NOT what I expected, but I am still pushing through. I've learned that life is never what you expect it but as long as you are happy that is what counts.

**In what ways did you "stay on plan" for yourself? In what ways do you feel you were "off track"? What things do you feel could benefit you to help you stay on track or meet your goals for yourself? I try writing each day even if it was just blogs or idea for a future scene of the story, there was a part of a scene in which I tried to avoid writing, but I think I needed to write to face my own issues, I did finally write it and now I'm a bit overwhelmed, but I'm glad I faced it.

**What is something "Healthy" that you've done for yourself this past week (Physically, Mentally or Emotionally)? How did it make you feel afterwards? I have been using my Cpap machine everyday and minus the lighthedness and dry nose, I'm feeling better. I notice a bit more focus and energy each day. (Does anyone know how to move in your sleep without the face mask notg leak?)

**What have been your "highlights" this past week? What are your weekend plans? I have written over 10,000 words this week. I plan to cook, write and play dice RPG. (It's D&D but final Fantasy version that my brother came up with, it always a good time.)

**What things would YOU like to talk about or share with us?! WE want to hear from YOU!! My best suggestion is if you have a big goal, give yourself smaller goals to achieve the bigger goal. If you have a hard time keep up get a friend to help encourage you or rewards to look forward to.

Hey Rebekah! So nice to hear from you...

So glad for you that your writing is doing well, and you are finding full-fillment in it... and glad to hear that the CPAP machine is doing what its supposed to do, and helping you to feel better! Thats a great start don't you think!?

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your "suggestion" where you stated: My best suggestion is if you have a big goal, give yourself smaller goals to achieve the bigger goal. If you have a hard time keep up get a friend to help encourage you or rewards to look forward to.

This is a very powerful and positive suggestion! And very true! Starting "small" can help you to achieve the bigger things ahead that you desire, and having a 'friend' to help encourage you, motivate, inspire and keep you accountable as well as giving yourself "rewards" for the things you've done well, can certainly have an awesome positive impact on the things you are trying to achieve for yourself!.... AWESOME SUGGESTION! Thank you for sharing that!

I feel like it's been a while since I've checked in. I was away for a bit and being around so many people meant I caught a cold and had symptoms the day after getting back.

I'm not really 'cold-sick' any more, but still recovering from that, my energy is still low.

I'm hoping that I will feel up to doing something this week, I registered for a class later this week, might switch it up to something else not sure. I am feeling fatigued just going up a flight of stairs right now, so whatever I will do it will likely need to be heavily modified from my usual.

Hey Affy!

Yes it surely has been awhile.. I was thinking of you the past few weekends when I hadn't heard from you in the threads.... I know some weeks, some might not have much to report.

Sorry to hear that you still weren't feeling well... I know how it can take so much out of you... Its like even when you do start to feel better, I know energy levels can still be low, as well as fatigue can just linger or hit you again out of nowhere.

Just continue to take the time you need to recoup and recover the best you can.

What class did you register for?... I know we had talked about some of this before, but didn't know if it was what you had mentioned in one of your previous posts or something different?!.....

Thanks for checking in this past week, its great that you found the energy within to be able to do so. And for keeping us up to date on how you've been doing and feeling.

@PoliteOcean I registered for the stuff I've been doing a while - the circuit. All the Core de Force are currently being offered earlier than what's ideal. I might give the latest an option a try, but this isn't the week for that.

I just didn't feel up to searching out what's going on at the big gyms, plus they are further away which can also be a problem when I'm already fatigued.

User Profile: AffyAvo
AffyAvo January 18th, 2019

@PoliteOcean I made it, but I am totally exhausted. I don't think my strength took too much of a hit at least, I was mostly doing TRX stuff so without specific weights it's a bit harder to determine, but I was managing things ok without needing to adjust much to make things easier. My endurance was what was more of a struggle, I found myself needing more breaks and just feeling tired during the workout overall.

My first week back to exercising went well. I was also eating good meals, though still too many treats. This weekend I did not exercise and ate and drank way too much. I did get to the Y on Monday, and hope to get to the park for a walk today (snow day for school). So, I am slowly getting back to better habits. No weight loss yet since I am still eating/drinking too much. I am up 8 pounds since Nov, sigh.

Turns out there will be no support from school either - the principal is not only not doing the weight loss program she mentioned to me, but is not going to stop putting out treats. Very disappointing. All the junk there is a big weak link for me in my weight loss efforts. I just don't have the willpower when it is there constantly in a place that I have to walk past to get my mail and hot water for my tea. I am still not totally back on track with food at home, but I know I can get there with that part by just not having bad stuff around. I need for it to not be around at school too!!

Hey there Sad! So glad to hear from you!

Glad to hear that your first week back to exercising went well for you! That is a great start! ...... Having a 'Snow" day makes it a great day to do just about Anything that you want! So I think getting to the park for a walk is an "excellent" idea!...I am sending you Positive thoughts for LOTS of motivation to be able to make that happen today!

I know you are still feeling "bummed-out" about the weight gain, BUT....theres one way to look at it... You could have done worse.... At least right now, you know where you are, you know what the number looks like. You are keeping tabs on it, and by doing that, it means you have a much better chance of not gaining anymore. Usually when people "face the music" or "reality" after hopping on the scale from a holiday etc.... it tends to help them know that they don't want it to get any worse. Which in turn usually helps them to be more mindful of their choices... (Not perfect) but more mindful moving forward.~

I am truly sorry for you to hear that the principal is not being much of a help to you (as well as other employees I'm sure).... I so can relate and know how challenging it was working for the school system and having to deal with all the "catered" meals, treats, chili cook-offs etc...etc..etc... the list of foods went on and on... Not to mention the morning Chicken bisquits everyday, and Free food coupons that they would put in our mailboxes!?.. lol... I DO know how that all feels. It can surely be a "side-line" in staying on track......This might sound "silly" but as a nurse, one thing I used to think of , was all the "Germs" and everyone else's hands touching all the food that was there or left out etc... Coughing, sneezing, or whatever else, etc... that usually gave me a much better perspective in NOT wanting that food afterwards!....

What got me was the "fresh" foods, when it first came in, (catered)..... When it didn't have time to "just sit" and be touched or breathed on by others! lol....Just keep that in mind when you are looking at that food that sits in the mailroom/breakroom or whereever it sits for you.....If you really think about where others hands might have been, it might give you what you need to "avoid" those tempting treats....

Also, just some other thoughts... Sugar Free gum, or candies.... to be honest some are so good, you wouldn't even realize they were sugar free!.... Bring your own healthy snacks. If theres something "in particiular" that you like or have a weakness for, then make a better healthier version of it! I know you are a great cook by some of the meals you used to chat about!....Just a thought.....

YOU can do this girly.. I know you can. You already know what you want, and I can hear it in your post so loud and clear. You really do "Got this" MORE than you think you do! wink Hang in there, and stay strong my friend!

Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing and how things are going for you! And good luck to you on getting that walk in today!! Get those shoes on and JUST DO IT!! yes

@PoliteOcean Thank you so much for the awesome supportive post! I like your idea of thinking about people touching all the food. In a germ pit like a school, everyone surely has yucky germs on them!! I do bring my healthy snacks, and I actually have a really good schedule this year as far as eating. I have 2 short breaks, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, when I eat a snack. Usually I have either fruit, dried fruit, or nuts in the morning, and yogurt in the afternoon. Then for lunch I only eat my one main dish, often a salad or other veggie-based dish. I like getting to eat 3 times because I don't feel stuffed at any one time and I stay full all day.

See! ....you really are making some great choices for yourself! These are really awesome snack and food ideas that you bring. And a great way to keep them spread out as well throughout your day. You know of course its not about perfection... none of us are perfect nor will we be..., but just planning , preparation & progress 👍🏼

Youre doing great!

My week has been good. I've had a little less energy than I did the first two weeks of my move, but I think I was running on sheer adrenaline for part of that time, and it is good to calm down and rest. I'm not sure what goals I had set up for myself before the move because they all related to my old situation and that book got left behind in the move. For here I wanted to explore the city on foot last week, and I ended up going out more this week.. and to be riding the buses by this week. I don't have an excuse not to ride the buses here because they are completely paid by tax dollars at the rate of six tenths of one percent of a county sales tax. That being said, I get turned around a lot, and as badly as I get lost on foot I could end up way lost using buses, so maybe my hesitation is understandable.

Some ways I stayed on track. I'm eating lots of foods that are good for me. Today was Greek yogurt and fruit for lunch. Cereal for breakfast. Chicken and veggies in a peanut sauce using peanut protein powder and ginger, sesame, garlic, soy, and I think lime juice over spinach and shitake noodles last night. Leftovers of earlier meals tonight. I also made myself go volunteer to straighten shelves at the library, which is really close by.

Highlights of the last week were the boardgame day we had where we had two people over and we all played board and card games for 8 hours. And today, when I got to talk to a friend over FB messenger for 3 hours.

My weekend plans are to hunker down and read and watch these lecture series that I checked out of the library like I'm marathoning them, and then to go to an early morning church service on Sunday that I can walk to.
