**This past week a little up and down.... I started off the week and got back to teaching my ZUMBA Gold class with my senior community on Monday (which is indoors)... I had a small group that I was comfortable with and realized that I would not want any more than the number that we had that day..... That the number we had was perfect for that room while being able to distance ourselves adequately!....So moving forward I've implemented that..... , later that afternoon though the weather took a turn and I had to cancel my Outdoor Zumba class. I felt bad about it, but not much I could really do. I'm still looking for an alternative to our outdoor space but no luck with that just yet... And by Wednesday for my 2nd outdoor class of the week, it was so sunny, that it made it a little on the un-bearable side . But.. we managed a decent class and I had an adequate turnout.
**The majority of the week I stayed on track with workouts, water and sleep.... But.. once again, I managed to get off track with my meal plans. Mentally I was just out of my element this past week. I found that little, personal things were getting to me again, stressing me, and getting me down.... Its been challenging to "fully" find the focus and structure again that I once had before Covid changed things. And while I actually might be one of the few who found some blessings in it all (such as rest, time for family, time to do things, a much slower pace in the day etc...) It still in the end, changed the structure in my life that I was used to each day or each week that contiuously kept me going and on track.... So I'm still fighting to find that structure and focus again.
**Outside of that, I would really love to take on a client or two "One on One" and perhaps be able to focus more on my Personal training options..... I even managed to think of getting back into teaching AQUA Zumba again (for anyone with a pool) that is. Since there are still restrictions. I found myself doing Aqua Zumba in my own pool today following a routine on my laptop, and it kind of Ignited a little passion to teach it again? So... not sure how either of those will pan-out, but both are something I'm thinking on at the moment....But, The weather is about to HEAT-UP even more in the coming week ahead and not sure how it will affect my outdoor classes being so hot out.
...
**Today (Saturday), My intentions are to get up and head out to the New Walking Trail at the park I teach at, and get a morning walk in with both my mom and hubby....and then run a few errands and head out for an afternoon drive to some of our favorite local spots....relax, try to clear my mind a bit, and enjoy the weather~
ENJOY THE WEEKEND~![]()
@PoliteOcean
Hi Ocean! Thank you for this thread. I think it's great the work you do with the senior community and I'm sure they love your aerobic classes! I am still working remotely and will not be back in the office anytime soon. The number of coronavirus cases in my area continues to rise and we are going back to a partial lock down again. I felt over-stressed last week and I can see this week will be no better, both in terms of work and the issues we all face due to the virus. I am trying to walk at least 3 times a week and have been doing my mindfulness exercises faithfully. I miss my aerobic classes but none are held outside where I would feel more comfortable. Perhaps I will start my jogging program again or even biking. I find myself reaching out more and more to those close to me not just to see how they are doing but because I am needing the extra comfort. I'm not sure where that's coming from but probably because my daily routine has changed so much and I'm not in ANY comfort zone at the moment. I want to work more on relaxing this week and not feel so stressed because I take a lunch break during the day. I never worked this hard when I was in the office!! I hope everyone has a peaceful and amazing week!!
@InfinityandBeyond23
Hey there! Thank you so much for your kind words.
Its good that you are still working remotely...especially with the growing number of cases again rising. So thats a good thing right now and that you have that option! Sorry to hear that you are going back to partial lock-down again. I wish though that in some way they would do the same here where I am... just for a little while.
So sorry to hear that you felt stressed with so much going on... But despite that, Its so awesome that you are trying to keep up with a healthy lifestyle and incorporate walking at least 3 times a week. As well as practicing Mindfulness which is surely just as beneficial to put you in the right "mind-frame" in continuing good habits all around! ...Its even more amazing that you also want to include jogging and biking! Both excellent activities as well!
I think its so lovely that you are reaching out more to those you are close to and care about. Its such a nice gesture and is also a good benefit to our overall Well-being. And I do hope that it is bringing you some benefit and comfort as well! And I do hope that you also have found the time to relax more through the week. If you feel like you need it, then most likely you surely do!! So be sure to squeeze that in when you feel like you need it. It will do a world of good. I do hope that things mellow-out for you with working from home! My spouse feels the same way as if they are doing "more" since working remotely.
Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you are doing! Please stop back and let us know how things are going for you!
@PoliteOcean
Hey Ocean! Yay for your zumba gold class ! Its really good to hear it went well and that you found the right number of people to do the class in a safe way! Im sorry though about the outdoor class… the weather sure adds a big uncertainty, between the rain but also the hot weather coming :\
Also congrats on staying mostly on tracks! I get you about the whole covid having changed your habits and finding it hard to get back to how things were before. I hope you can find it back, or build one back that would be slightly different but still good for you! Finding (again) structure is often a long process and it can get quite tiring, but youve got this, youll get there again, I believe in you!
Using your personal training certification sound like a good plan! Do you think its something that could be doable in case the outdoor classes have to be stopped for a while if the weather gets too hot? Also do you think it would be doable to implement aqua zumba classes in very small groups like if one of your members has a big pool? Just shooting ideas :p Not sure if theyre even doable haha!
I hope you have a good week!
@LinearWaves
Hey there Waves! Thank you for your kind words and support as always!... I really appreciate them and you!
Not sure how the personal training would go at this time with so much going on? With the clientele I have at the moment, they are more into the "group" fitness enviroment and thrive off each other's energy (if that makes sense). I could probably do a smaller group personal training type deal. But haven't "truly" had to think on that option "yet". So will see lol...
As far as AQUA Zumba... Yes I would actually consider totally teaching that again, but many pools are closed right now and only a very small few that I know have a pool "locally". I threw the idea out there on my social media page for anyone that was interested, so will continue to see how that goes as well. lol... With so much going on for everyone right now, each day is a waiting game/guessing game.
@PoliteOcean
Hey Everyone~ How has the past week been for you?!
Hello! It was a great week! I was able to maintain somewhat a balance.
**How are things going around you during this time? Are things getting back to normal where you are? Are there still restrictions in place? Are numbers or cases going back up/ or going down in your area at this time? How are you feeling right now or continuing to deal with things during this time?
Things are a little tough but we are able to navigate through it. It's getting normal but also we are on our way to another lockdown, so we are just going back I guess... Yes there are new restrictions every now and then and it's hard to keep up with them. cases are going up this time, sadly. I feel a bit tensed about this whole thing but also I'm starting to balance myself in this pandemic. I'm able to get back on my routines and self care during this hard pandemic!
**So most of us are finally in Full Swing of SUMMER Mode!~.. .How are things going? How many of you have regular summer plans made? If so, what are your plans? What are you doing? Are you planning to travel any and if so, Where to?!...If you don't have any plans made, what would you like to do? What plans would you like to make if you could?!
Summer is great, it's not too hot as I expected (I imagine august would be a bit more unbearable) there isn't much to do though... I never have planned summers but I always get myself in programs courses, jobs so that my summer is filled with stuff I do. as of now I signed myself in theatre, medical care, hip hop courses also a job in august and a lot of summer volunteering. I can't travel, sadly. our country is a red country and we can't leave it nor others can travel to it... If I could I would travel ahah.
**How are you doing with staying on track now that things have been opening back up and people are getting out more? Do you find that you, yourself are getting out more and becoming more active? Do you find that you are still stuck inside and taking things slower for yourself? How is your choices affecting your physical, mental or emotional well-being?
I am doing much better, it's good to see things getting slightly better. Yes ironically I got out a lot with friends but not to public places or with crowds. mostly hang out in empty places or in each other's houses. Yes though I am still inside I am a lot more outside again (of course still wearing a mask) but I do take things a little slower. My choices are improving my overall health. I decided to go on a diet, my sleep schedule is back on track, I exercises daily, and I keep a gratitude journal, overall I am a lot happier now.
**What is ONE way you will or could plan to take time (or a day) to "Relax" in the coming week ahead and enjoy?
I am planning to take things slower, easier. Think twice before doing anything and not rush any of my actions. practice mindful eating. (basically mimic a sloth... but a bit more active one!)
**What have been your "Highlights" Or "Struggles" over this past week?
My highlights were on getting back my sleep schedule, getting friendlier and opening up more.
my struggles have been trying to maintain a good diet and control my mood (I was so angry for no reason!)
**What would "YOU" like to talk about or share with us This Week?! WE want to hear from "YOU"~ ![]()
I would like to share that I believe it's important to try and reconnect with nature, and use this stressful time to seek peace and balance with nature. it's the best time to rethink our product choices to a more nature friendly (animal friendly) products.
@JarOfCaramel
It
@LinearWaves I really enjoy logging in my mood every end of the day before bed to sum out how I was doing
@JarOfCaramel
That sounds like a great way to close the day, process things and start fresh the next day!
Hi!
This week has been mostly down for me. Tragic events have me checking the news constantly for updates. I'm going to avoid it fully today since taking a peek last night turned into browsing for hours. Last night I had some pretty bad anxiety, my sleep has been way off (hardly getting any). But today, I scared tf outta my ED. It tried so hard to take advantage of my lack of sleep & mounting anxiety. So I made myself some roasted carrots with oil and butter about an hour ago. :D
**How are things going around you during this time? Are things getting back to normal where you are? Are there still restrictions in place? Are numbers or cases going back up/ or going down in your area at this time? How are you feeling right now or continuing to deal with things during this time?
Yeah, we've got restrictions but things are returning to normal. College will be in session next semster it seems. Though with ICE, many people are worried about what will happen. It's so bizarre because there's no reason for what ICE is doing - we here in the US are one of the few countries with very high cases still, so... Cases are going up where I am, only a bit. Of course with school, there is a chance that with people coming in from other states it might get worse. It's hard to say but definitely on my mind.
Our school is talking about plexiglass, social distancing, face masks that will be provided if we don't have one, temperature checks - this is all well and good, but I'm also concerned about the racism against Asians getting worse. Our school is so bad at dealing with the mental health of its students. This may not be the appropriate place to put this. I'm gonna say it anyway: I'm black and my support of BLM is still going strong, and right now my concern is also on other minorities & international students. They don't have the same changes being made by our school as black students are getting & I hope one day that we will have the same amount of outrage & solidarity for other minorities even if the racism isn't deemed as "severe". It's still damaging.
Wooooooo! Ok, so I'm not traveling this year but yesterday & today I've become obsessed with planning a trip for next year. This is assuming things go as planned. I've been watching review videos, browsing luggage & supplies, watching packing hacks, looking at how I can reduce waste while traveling. Getting myself all hyped up for something that probably won't happen for at least another year.
**How are you doing with staying on track now that things have been opening back up and people are getting out more? Do you find that you, yourself are getting out more and becoming more active? Do you find that you are still stuck inside and taking things slower for yourself? How is your choices affecting your physical, mental or emotional well-being?
Nah. I thought about it but still I'm not quite ready. Even walking makes me want to jog which makes me want to run, and that escalation is dangerous. My heart physically may not be where it needs to be & I need to go to the doctor to get that checked out. For now, I'm stretching. It's been hard not to compare myself to others. Yet after what happened yesterday with my thoughts and mindset, it's safer for me to not take the risks. For those that are on track or becoming active, that's great! :D
**What is ONE way you will or could plan to take time (or a day) to "Relax" in the coming week ahead and enjoy?
Hm, I'd say just trying to have less contact with what makes me anxious while not going into full avoidance mode. I have some stress balls that I can squeeze when needed. Stretching also to help muscles relax
@Lexloveslife
Yay for carrots! The other day I made roasted carrots with a bit of oil, cumin… and some honey, which sounded weird in the recipe but ended up tasting really good in case you ever want to try!
I totally get your concerns for racism against Asians, I may be too ptimistic but I really hope the whole BLM can eventually act as an eye/mind-opener for people…
@Lexloveslife
Hey there Lex!...So great to see you this week...
Wow.. Seems like there is so much going on for you.. Sorry to hear that the week was mostly down for you...Its so difficult when we have to deal with our anxieties (for those of us who suffer). Its challenging to say the least. But, its good that you found smaller solutions to help such as simply "avoiding" the situation that you know could bring it on.
How awesome that you made yourself some roasted carrots! What a great choice! Way to stay on top of things and turn the sitation around for yourself.
I hear you in what you are saying about Covid and school and all the precautions that will be needed to go back. Sounds like that will be pretty much most places. I didn't realize that you were 'Black' as you stated.... I am Inter-racial myself so I'm part Black . I do hope that once you go back, that there will be something in place to "help" with these sitations. A place to go to, admin/counsleors to talk with or implement new ways of doing things for minorites (as most other places are "trying" to do). But schools surely need to take a step "up"... and start putting more measures in place with everything going on around us.
How exciting that you are planning a trip! (Even if it is for next year) ... at least you have that to focus on and look forward to! And perhaps one day, you can share with us more details about it all!
I do agree that it IS definitely challenging to not compare ourseleves with others.. This is something that I have often done a majority of my life. Which has also lead me on some negative paths in the past.... But its awesome that you identify your triggers with these situations, and that you are doing what is healthy for "You'!.. Stretching is an awesome activity. One that many don't utilize enough. (Including myself) I too need to do that more. I've actually set up an appointment for a new stretching clinic that just opened.
Keep up the great work that you are doing. Keep stretching and using those stress balls and avoiding your triggers. You are doing good! Thank you so much for checking in and letting us know how you've been doing!
@PoliteOcean
How has the past week been for you?!
Good can't complain.
**How are things going around you during this time? Are things getting back to normal where you are? Are there still restrictions in place? Are numbers or cases going back up/ or going down in your area at this time? How are you feeling right now or continuing to deal with things during this time?
Things are going on in the new usual considering the present pandemic which really sucks! Nothing seems to be getting normal but progressing to be more abnormal
The cases are going up: higher than the usual. I am feeling ok for now and I hope it lasts that I feel this way. I am taking one day at a time and limiting my expectations. Discovering myself even more and staying active is helping me deal with things during this time.
Not any different. I don't have regular summer plans. I am not planning to travel, anyway the airports closed. traveling by road is hectic because we have some inter-county barriers due to this pandemic however it was lifted but not to last. I would honestly want to travel. Host parties. I would plan to take a roadtrip.
**How are you doing with staying on track now that things have been opening back up and people are getting out more? Do you find that you, yourself are getting out more and becoming more active? Do you find that you are still stuck inside and taking things slower for yourself? How is your choices affecting your physical, mental or emotional well-being?
Things for us seem to be closing even further. Lesser people are getting out. No, I am getting out less but still being active. I am stuck inside but things are moving at the usual pace. My choices are affecting me positively and I am grateful for that.
**What is ONE way you will or could plan to take time (or a day) to "Relax" in the coming week ahead and enjoy?
Go swimming (Except that my coack makes things tough howver I get a good night sleep afterwards wich is relaxing)
**What have been your "Highlights" Or "Struggles" over this past week?
Not any that I have noted
**What would "YOU" like to talk about or share with us This Week?! WE want to hear from "YOU"~ ![]()
Take every moment 1 step at a time. Take regular breaks too. Thank me later :)
@theheartproject
How nice it is to hear that you
@LinearWaves
Yes, I am glad I was able to discover I could make musical beats. i think that is a skill.
@theheartproject
That's definitely such a cool skill!
@theheartproject
Hello Theheart. Seems like at some places things are getting worse and that's the case in your country according to what you tell us. It's similar in my place, things are getting worse and trying to open too early caused havoc. Now is harder for people to understand that to go back to normal patience is needed. It's good that you are optimistic and have things to do. No struggles is good news.
I've been treating myself much better than usual!
@ajw99
Yay that's so good to hear! Keep up the amazing work! What are some ways you've found to treat yourself better?
@PoliteOcean. This past week I was able to get a couple of things done that had been hanging over my head for a long time. Monday I went to see the chiropractor. The last time I went was Nov. 11th. Then on Wednesday I got a haircut, which I needed really badly. It felt terrible having that long hair on my neck. Then on Saturday I went for a walk in the park. I'm still really out of shape. My life is a lot better than it used to be, but I dont' know how long that is going to last. For this upcoming week I have a counseling appointment to get over my toxic family, and I hope to get a blood test done. The last time I got a blood test was December 3rd, but for some reason my doctor didn't get the results. I finished the book of Micah and I'm going to start studying the book of I Samuel. On Friday I have a consultation for acupuncture treatment. My chronic pain is my biggest problem right now, and has been for the past 14 years. Once I start acupuncture, I hope I will see results after several weeks. I might need a year of acupuncture before I get 100% cured.
@Regmo
Congrats on getting things done and good luck with the rest of it! Have you ever tried acupuncture before?
@Regmo
Hey Regmo! Great to hear from you again this week. Great to hear that you have been productive for yourself and able to get things done that you've been wanting to do. I Think thats why I actually thrived a little bit during the whole Covid thing because I was able to get caught up on so much. Good for you. Thats good that you were able to get out to see the Chiro, hopefully you found that visit beneficial. And how nice that you were able to get a haircut.....Its been good to get out and get the "little things" done that we've had to cut back on doing for so long. How awesome for you that you were able to get out to the park again! Hopefully things like that will continue to go well for you and you will find that you can continue to do more and more things like that for yourself that benefit you. Its great that you are feeling good about yourself and your life at this time.Thats good that you have all your appointments lined up moving forward. Counseling can be really good with the right counselor to help you through and to give you good suggestions and coping skills. I hope that you have a good one that can help you with your needs or any toxicity in your life. And hopefully your pain will start to lessen for you in the coming weeks ahead! This sounds like a great check-in for you this week. Hopefully things will continue to go well for you. Thank you for keeping us up to date on things and letting us know how you've been doing!
The past week has been rather okay. I still feel a bit off/weak. I think it
@LinearWaves
Hi LinearWaves. Nice to hear that some things are getting better around you, though there are still reasons to be cautious. Hope that your plans to travel can be for real soon, specially plans to go far abroad. I've never been to Myanmar but is on my list too. Vietnam... that's a good choice, highly recommended. Japan... been there, too expensive nowadays given the current situation.
Hope you can go on with regular work out soon. Physical activity always helps to feel better.
Good luck
@Traveller8
Japan definitely sounds incredibly expensive... Yet the whole culture stays really appealing!
Good luck as well, take care!
@LinearWaves
Hey there Waves!...
Wow.. so sorry to hear that you have still been feeling a bit off and weak. Its so challenging to feel that way, and have it throw you off your normal routines...
Its so great that you finally got your break!.. I'm sure it was much needed! And whatever you weren't able to attend to beforehand, I'm sure its something that can hopefully be attended to and taken care of once you are back!....I hope that everything works out and goes well with you and your mom while you are staying there again. I know the time you were there before was at times very stressful for you. So hopefully this time will be different!!....And I'm glad to hear that while you are there that you intend to utilize that time to your benefit and try to get back on track with the things that you enjoy and make you happy!
And wow!.. The ALPS?!.. Now theres a place that I am positively SURE that I will never see in my lifetime. You will have to let us know how that all goes for you! Perhaps share a photo even?! And yes Vietnam and JAPAN BOTH sound very interesting.. My son was totally into ALL THINGS Japan during his time in highschool. He studied so much about it all. Its one place he always wanted to visit as a teenager. He was really into the whole "Anime" thing.
And yes I agree with you about the whole "Numbers and testing" situation! (insert eyeroll).. lol.. Its all so crazy how things are being handled from place to place. I just don't get it or understand it.
I do hope you are enjoying yourself and your time off! Thank you so much for checking in this week and just keeping us up to date with things and letting us know how things are going for you! Its always so great to hear from you each week.
@PoliteOcean
Thanks for your kind words as always <3
I
**Hey Everyone~ How has the past week been for you?!
So its been interesting. More restrictions on businesses in my area. People have to wear masks in public or in businesses or the businesses can be fined. Number of cases in my county is holding steady or increasing a little, they are not going down. They are talking about closing restaurants and bars again or rolling us back anywhere from a modified 2.5 to all the way back to 1. I'm feeling ready to resume my life, with mask in place, but the people I live with are really scared still and there's some tension about doing things that are deemed non-essential.
I have no plans for summer. At least not normal summer plans. What I am doing is still trying to get the work/life balance hashed out and eventually add my universal classes back into the mix.
**How are you doing with staying on track now that things have been opening back up and people are getting out more? Do you find that you, yourself are getting out more and becoming more active? Do you find that you are still stuck inside and taking things slower for yourself? How is your choices affecting your physical, mental or emotional well-being?
So we are not at my house opening back up or acting like things are reopening because the numbers are actually not decreasing where I am. I am working and volunteering so I am getting outside and am doing a lot better, but it still isn't the same.
**What is ONE way you will or could plan to take time (or a day) to "Relax" in the coming week ahead and enjoy?
I can make an extra push to clean things and to have a day to relax on Saturday where I can read and study and talk with friends.
@berryfields2409
Hello Berryfields,
Seems like it's hard to return to normality in many places. Hope you can go out safely and tell us about it. Maybe we just need to adjust and live as much normal as we can knowing that uncertainty is still out there. Hope that your plans to achieve a work/life balance succeed and good luck with your classes.
@Traveller8
Hey I want to do that but my family that I am living with isn't on the same page yet and are scared to do anything non-essential. They are blesseds with being able to work remotely, but I'm not. That's still a blessing because i was seriously getting cabin fever. And its a "Do as I say, not as I do situation" because they were going out to get groceries and such but I wasn't supposed to before I got a job because I didn't need to. We have a primary election that I studied the ballot for tonight but I'm supposed to weigh and make plans about how I will pay down my debts and cover expenses to see if I can move out even a little bit faster. There's a question of if I push things if I can still live here, because they're not willing even to let my adopted niece, their daughter, come home because she isn't willing to stay at the house in lock-down.
