(And ANY and ALL "NEWBIES"!)
Well... yesterday my anxiety was trying to get to me, but... I've doing as well as I can to push through. Other than that, the week has been alright. Got back on track after getting off track "last" week with the July 4th Holiday.......So I'm back on track with my eating, counting those Weight Watcher points again, back on track with ZUMBA, as well as my other workouts and walking the dog daily to get his workout in too.
Its been incredibly HOT here, in the 90's! So, I've been doing alot of Swimming and working out in the Pool too
. Today is my REST DAY so Yayy!
And so far as of now since there are no other weekend plans like we usually have, the plan is to drive to the BEACH for the day or even stay over the weekend. If I go, I will post pics in the SUMMER SELF-CARE CHALLENGE EVENT. I hope everyone else's week has been going well!
@PoliteOcean A trip to the beach sounds great! Have fun and I can't wait to see pictures!
been really trying to look after myself this week. i'm not doing as much yoga as i would like but i'm still trying. i'm trying to get to a place where my yoga is part of my everyday routine. :)
i've been writing in my journal a lot more and have discovered some unhealthy thought patterns and habits that i'm working on now. seeing my problems and flaws on paper has helped me feel a lot lighter and now i fee like i can work on improving myself.
@EllieKB
Wow Ellie... this is really a great check in for you...
Its great that you are "trying" and thats really what its about. We dont' have to be "perfect". Nobody can be. But your trying your best and thats all we can do. Its great that you are trying to incorporate Yoga and make it a regular practice for yourself. And the journaling is Awesome! I do that as well, and find it really helpful. I'm glad to hear you find it helpful for you as well mentally and emotionally it seems?! Keep up the great work that you've been doing. I'm proud of you!
I got a good amount of exercise in last week. I went inline skating twice, and biking. I also ate several meals with veggies, and drank a good amount of water, and green tea. I have also avoided drinking coffee.
I also engaged in other healthy activities like playing the piano, singing, crafting, and writing.
Have been very active swimming and keeping goals in focus. I wish spring and summer were 12 months a year. Enjoy your week.
Not a bad week. No major depression or anxiety. I ate pretty well and exercised pretty well. I worked around the yard outside 2 days in the mornings, and I feel like I sweated out 10 pounds (the scale disagrees). Tomorrow I am going on an outing with a friend, something very rare for me with my social anxiety issues. We are going on a winery tour by trolley to 4 wineries. I am looking forward to it.
@SadMe70
Oh wow Sad! What a wonderful check-in for you!.... I 'm so glad to hear that you held your own with the anxiety/depression this past week. That is always a great thing for us. For sure!.....Also, I'm glad to hear that you've been able to get out and move around and sweat. Yard Work totally counts! I know people who sweat "buckets" doing that lol....(the scale seemed to disagree with me as well with all that I did this past week too, so I know how you feel sadly) lol.... But oh well, heres to a "new" week to try again. ~
I'm also proud of you that you are going to try to get out.. I didn't use to have social anxiety, but over the past few years it has crept up on me as well, so its great that you are not going to let it get to you and just go out and have some fun with your friend! You will have to let us know at next week's check-in how all that went for you! I hope you have a fabulous time my friend. YOU DESERVE IT!
Well ... This week i continued to eat healthy , less gastric problems which is a great thing but still struggling with stress & anxiety due to my lifestyle as a doctor. Looking forward to continue with this & start working out next week. 💪
@Alia2
That is great Alia that you have gotten on track with eating healthier... and yes its always a "plus" when we have less gastric issues because of it. I personally understand how that is. I'm sure being a doctor is very stressful and demanding. Healthcare field usually is. I'm a nurse, so I understand that as well. lol.... Keep up the great work with the great and positive things that you have been doing and accomplishing. And thank you so much for checking in this week!
I am solidly okay. The past week was a 'boring' week, i.e. routine as usual. My novel's coming along nicely, albeit slowly. I need to set specific times during the week for novel-writing, learning the French language, and practicing sketching/digital painting. So far, I've only been doing them during downtimes in between homework assignments and classes. However, plenty of those downtimes are basically me trying to grab a snack, doing chores, or laying on the ground and wondering why on Earth did I decide to take classes that I don't even need because they looked interesting. [Note: Besides maths, my classes are interesting. I may have accidentally on purpose taken the maximum number of credit hours permitted by my university.]
Oh, I ran a kilometer in 06:30 minutes. That was pretty cool. It's my best time since I resumed running after an eighteen-month hiatus. Prior to the break, my best was under five minutes.
This upcoming week, though. Oh, boy! It's going to be a fun-filled week as I take my exams and write a (research-y) paper about German folktales, on top of my regular work load! I absolutely cannot wait to take a step into the exam hall as the eyes of the supervising teaching assistants dart towards me as I walk between the neatly alligned chairs to find my unassigned assigned seat. All the while hoping that I don't accidentally squeeze the rubber duck in my backpack that I, once again, have forgotten to remove prior to an exam. At this point it's ridiculous. I have unintentionally squeezed the rubber duck in every single exam I have taken since I acquired the quacking piece of plastic. Quack. Quack. Quack.
Note: The last paragraph had hints of sarcasm.
@JLantern
Sounds like you've been very busy and very active!...... Great running time (I'm embarrassed to even say my time, Running isn't my thing, My time is probably twice that for the same distance)
Good luck on your upcoming test!.. (And please don't squeeze the Duckie!! QUACK QUACK
) Thanks so much for checking in this week.. You are quite the adventurous person.
Mentally and physically not on my best...since my bday it seems things haven't been right, I'm trying to be better tho... I'll be back...
@AliNurse
Sorry to hear that Ali! I've been thinking of you and wondering where you've been. Please don't hesitate to message me if you'd like to chat.
Hang in there, and even though things have been off track for you, I thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing!
@PoliteOcean ... thank you ❤
My body has not responded to poor air quality even though it was only for an hour, and my husband noticed other parts of the city were way worse than anything I was exposed to. Unfortunately I didn't take the best precautions as the air quality info wasn't giving a reading when it hit the highest point, it was displayed retroactively. I thought we were still in the moderate risk range, not the high. I've been debating if I should seek out a nebulizer treatment for my asthma - although part of the issue with that is I don't know where to go other than the hospital (I could call clinics and find out) plus I really feel uncomfortable with the idea of driving afterwards, I get quite shaky my concentration drops. I'm not having full out asthma attacks either, it's just that typical breathing through a straw feeling with some deep productive coughing a few times a day. I might have issues getting the treatment depending on the clinic that has it.
The smoke is probably going to blow in again. I'll take better precautions, sticking to a room with the air purifier as much as possible. I'm not moving much anyway, walking from one room to another requires me to sit right away and rest.
I'm guessing I will have to cancel my workout this week although I still have a few days to make that decision and see how much I can improve by then.
@AffyAvo
Sorry to hear your having such a challenging and difficult time with the air quality.... I didn't realize you had Asthma?!... I know you have the HAE, but I never heard you talk about the Asthma... I know the treatments can make some feel "shaky" afterwards. So I understand what you are saying about having to drive after.
Hopefully all of this will get better for you and improve sooner rather than later and you can continue on with your week as well as your planned workout. I'm so glad that you checked in this week to let us know how you've been doing.
@PoliteOcean I have all the allergy stuff - asthma/allergies/eczema/nasal polyps. While my asthma was horrible as a kid (I had a nebulizer at home for many years) it really has improved lots for me. Most of the time I don't even bother with my inhalers, the last time I had a pulmonary function test I was told I wouldn't even meet criteria some set out for asthma. I throw an inhaler in with my workout stuff but it's pretty rare that I need it. It pops up with triggers though. I have never mowed the grass and go inside whenever an immediate neighbour is mowing. I can't set foot in a house if there's a cat (although I've discovered some of that is HAE too). Smoke is something that sets off my asthma and HAE directly.
