*This week has gone really well.... Anxiety levels were low again so that is always great.... I kept on track with exercises and eating well..... and I celebrated MY BIRTHDAY yesterday!!
So ...I'm another year older (and supposedly 'Wiser'
)... I spent a great day with my family, and also totally over-did it on my birthday "Treats"~ And I'm going out again to have a dinner with my husband this afternoon...And I wouldn't change a thing about any of it, even though it meant getting off track with food. We only have birthdays once a year, and should celebrate them to the fullest.
*Today is my "REST DAY".. and while I don't have any formal plans to work out today, I've just been practicing some new choreo for my Zumba Gold class on Monday morning... I really love teaching this class and group of ladies and very blessed.
*This last half of the year has been a little busy with preparation for the holidays ahead and just a bunch of other Small goals that I have in mind that I want to acheive. So, this last week of October ahead, I really plan to kick my own butt into getting my mind right to continue on in meeting those goals. (Water, sleep, weight-loss, new fitness licenses etc..) So I've got work to do, and goals to meet. If I write them here, maybe it will keep me accountable?!
HOPE EVERYONE ELSE'S WEEK HAS GONE WELL ![]()
I had another steady week. No particular losses or gains. I cooked a lot last weekend and had good meals this week. This weekend I am making cheese and yogurt, which I've been putting off, and don't have time for cooking. There's just never enough time to do everything! I have stuff in the freezer though, so I will take maybe 2 meals from there. Also, we bought a bunch of catfish fillets at the farmers' market and froze 6 fillets per bag and have about 20 meals worth of local fish. My husband is the fish cook around here, so I usually have that on the menu once a week. I dug up my first ever sweet potato crop and got about a dozen big potatoes and a dozen tiny skinny ones. It was very exciting digging around and finding the next potato! I am easily amused :)
@SadMe70
I Love your post Sad....especially the part about the "Potatos"!.. Lol... so cute! (and I LOVE me some Sweet potaotes!)....
I think its great that you are able to grow and make your own foods like that... I have absoultely no kind of skills when it comes to stuff like that..What a talent you have. Sounds like you all are going to have some awesome food for awhile! ...(Can I join!) lol...
Thank you so much for checking in this week and for letting us know how you've been doing all week. Keep continuing to do the great job that you've been doing. Love to hear that you are doing well~
In my (almost) three years of university, I've never had to pull an all-nighter for an assignment... until last week. I was up for forty hours straight to complete a programming assignment. Good news, I managed to complete the assignment at the 38-ish hour, roughly twenty minutes before the deadline. Bad news, I stayed up for forty hours straight. I also took a midterm exam during the forty hours of staying up, I hope sleep-deprived me managed to pass.
Also, a quick PSA to any current or future teachers: Don't schedule a midterm, an assignment, and three labs in the same week. It was a nightmare :P
I don't think it helped that I had midterm exams for other subjects that week, too. Woops.
But, I did it! I got a 100% on that programming assignment, which is my first ever 100% in Computer Science this semester - it's been a challenging semester, academically-speaking. So, I think it was worth it :P
Oh! And I still had to go to work while I was sleep-deprived. At the 28-ish hour of being up, I swiped into work. I work as a baker and I was the only baker on shift that day. And we had a catering order. Sleep-deprived me had to bust out fifty loaves of bread in three hours. It was tough, but I also did it! The bread smelled fantastic, too! I hope the customers enjoyed it :P
I'm getting plenty of sleep now that it's the weekend. Yay for that! However, I do have four lab reports, a research paper, and more midterms this upcoming week. Wish me luck! Hopefully I won't have to pull off another all-nighter :P
@JLantern
Whoaaa!!! Sounds like you have been REALLLLYYYYY Busy!...
That sounds like a very full and busy schedule, Its too bad that gave you so much work to do all around the same timeframe. But its great that all of you hard work and effort paid-off in getting an "A"! ...sounds like it was "well-deserved" after all of that!
Sorry to hear that you have another load coming up for yourself, but you seem like a very determined person, and I'm sure you'll do your best at getting it done and knocked out again!... Just remember to continue to take time for yourself / self-care! And to relax your body and mind as well!... (But sounds like you have already been doing that over the weekend and I hope it gave you the rest that you needed) ;)
Thanks so much for checking in this week! (And for the birthday wishes!)..... And for letting us know how you've been doing. Continue with that great work that you've been doing!
@PoliteOcean
How has everyone been doing over the past week? I have been doing okay. Pretty busy!
What new things have been going on with your journey? I just started physical therapy
What goals do you feel you are meeting or accomplishing this month? Starting to get strength back
What healthy habits do you feel you can take with you into November? drink more water and set up times for self-care
What have been your good and positive points this week?! spending time with my boyfriend :)
@Mellietronx
Hey Mellie! So great to see you this week!...
Its great that you have started Therapy , I hope that it is helping you. And I'm glad that with it, that you are getting your strength back. I know how important that is!...We need that for sure..... Its also great that you have set goals for yourself for the month of November! You can do it!... Keep up the great work.
Thank you for checking in and letting us know how you've been doing this week!
Happy birthday, PoliteOcean!

I'm still meat, dairy, and egg free. I won a copy of the tenth anniversary edition of the Veganomicon cookbook. Is that a message from the universe, or what?
In November, my main goal will be to focus on meal planning. I've enjoyed trying out some different kinds of ingredients for meals (for example, TVP..textured vegetable protein). I need to pull out a lot of my Indian food recipes from when I took cooking classes at Kalachandji's. I also want to get a tofu press. It would also be nice to get my sleeping schedule situated. I currently have days and nights turned around. *sigh*
@BridgetAileen
BRIDGETTT!!!!!! Thank you so much for the Birthday wishes!!!.
And also its sooooo great to see you check in this week!... You are really doing great with your new "eating lifestyle"! That is really awesome. And congrats to you on winning that cookbook! ... Perhaps you could share some of your "Favorite" recipes with us sometime in the "Food Section"!??! .. Would love to see! (Something simple for me though as I'm not that great of a cook!) lol....
Thank you so much for sharing with us this week and for letting us know how you've been doing! Its so great to see you back!...Keep going and continue on in the great efforts and strides that you are making for yourself! So proud of you!
@PoliteOcean, sure, I'd love to share some yummy recipes. :) And I'll keep it simple. I love simple recipes that I can either change out an ingredient or add something to it to make it different.
I know it's been a while since I shared very much. It's been a long time since I really felt like I had anything worth sharing.
Sometimes life just feels kind of meh.
@BridgetAileen
I totally understand!...Sometimes we have something to say, other times we have to "find" the words to say or nothing to say at all~ It happens. I'm just so glad to see you in here, and to know that you are doing well and doing such a great job.
HUGE HUGS TO YOU!
I had considered cancelling my workout this past week. I had just done way too much earlier in the week. I figured with good night's sleep I could get through it. I did and was feeling pretty much ok that morning minus a headache. I probably need more rest though, I could barely stay awake the next day, napped through most of the day and slept for a long time at night too. The weather hasn't been doing me any favours either, fluctuations plus windy days.
I'm really hoping to manage better this week. Hallowe'en is a bit tiring but I hope to pace that out along with a workout this week.
@AffyAvo
Sounds like your body needed all that rest, and it was best that you gave it what it needed!..... And you're right, this chillier weather doesn't really help with our goals as well with how we feel physically....Just continue to do for and give your body what it needs, you know what's best for "You".
Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing.
@PoliteOcean
it's been such a long time since i checked in!! i hope everyone's doing well :) by the way, thank you for being so consistent and keeping at these check in threads!!
i've been alright honestly; since i last checked in i've taken to swimming and football every week and am probably going to start running soon! i'm hoping to do that in november, so that's probably my goal (although i'm not very good at keeping up with goals).
@windflowers
Hey there Wind! So good to see you this week!...
Its great that you are still swimming and doing your football!...(I miss swimming....I'll have to wait until least the end of May again to start back, since we are into the Fall and heading into the Winter months
)
But, its great that you are still staying Active and keeping up with the great work that you are doing!... Thank you so much for checking in this week and glad to see that you've been doing alright! Thank you for letting us know how you've been doing :)
Energy-wise I'm still recovering from overdoing things a bit, just an overall sense of tiredness. I'm still managing to do things though, although it might slow the recovery down a bit. My workouts have been pretty consistent the past month or so, using the same equipment (suspended TRX) with only a few things changed from week to week. This week it actually felt fairly easy, so it's probably time to mention to my PT I need to switch that up if I'm not stationed elsewhere next time (or if I manage to get into another class - I've been thinking about that, but I need to have it work with all the other things in my life and managing total triggers).
We have lots of snow and it's cold, really not loving that and it does have me avoid going out doing errands if it's not really necessary.
@AffyAvo Sound like you're steadily progressing. Keep up the good work. So, no play in the snow for you? Awww... I challenge you to go and make a snow man or woman. :)
@HopefulSong17 It's not worth the attack that would trigger. Hereditary angioedema attacks can be fatal.
My goal is to loose weight so men can like me more. Got the exercise schedule. Just need to watch the food.
@ReservedExcitement Yeey! Excellent start!
