This past week for me started off with getting the "brunt" of HURRICANE IRMA~ So while Sunday was beautiful and sunny, Monday and Tuesday came with Storms, strong winds, and Loss of Electric for TWO Days!........ Not a fun situation to be in, however, we made it through (thanks to lots of candles, flashlights, and my mom who only lives around the corner).......

It was challenging to stay on track this past week because of this, but I did manage to keep "One" appointment before the power went out...... My eating got off track yet again.... I had no power/electric to even keep track of my meals or Weight Watcher points... It was interesting charging our phones and such in our vehicles. By Wednesday, everything was back to the usual 'normal' and the weather became very beautiful again.....I did manage to get in my steps during the power outage, no reason you can't "Step by Candlelight" to your IPOD smileyyes

I managed to Sub a Zumba class this week on Thursday.... which was the only "Real" workout I got in this week so far..... Today is REST DAY!... My son is staying with me for the weekend, its a beautiful day out, so I will probably take the puppy for a walk, get some steps in, and enjoy his company.... Hope everyone else's week has gone well :)

@essdee

You said you ate "healthier" this past week... (more salads) that is great.... Its the fact that you were trying. And every little step you take towards trying to live or be healthier counts..(No matter how side-tracked you might get). Just keep going, don't give up! You can do it. I know you can wink. Thank you so much for checking in this week!

@PoliteOcean ... I'm so happy to hear you are doing well after Irma, i think mother nature is resetting things with all these weather. But you did so awesome doing what you can to survive.

My week was good, tho minimal activity other than walking. The employee parking is about 2-3 blocks from the ER (it seems that far to me, the garage is on the opposite side of the ER and there's the visitor and physician parking in between lol). I jus take it as steps and cardio, i park on the second level and take the stairs.

Anywhoo... eating, tho not tracking its ok, i drink my gallon of water and eating right. Im in the pool doing laps and cleaning from the inside so i can use my core to push and pull lol

Well, thats all for now...Have a fabulous week!!!

@AliNurse

Hey Ali! So glad to see you check in again this week I've missed seeing you around!

Sounds like you are "getting it in" girly!...... (And once again congrats on those 30lbs!).... You are doing a great job at getting in activity (Swimming, parking further away and walking).... ALL awesome steps towards any goals you have. And a GALLON of water! Way to go!... (I wanna be like you when I grow up! lolol) My water intake tends to decrease as we move out of the summer months.....So that is really great that you are getting such a good amount in.

Keep up all the great work that you are doing, and thank you so much for checking in this week! Its been so great to see you the past two check-ins, and letting us know how you are doing!

@PoliteOcean ... Thank you so much 😊

I totally agree with the water intake, i set mu fitbit to alarm every 2 hrs during awake time to remind me to drink. Plus i use those water enhancers (Mio) to help me down the water. Hehehe

I'm gonna try be here more, i miss the support and encouragement and motivations...so thank you!!!! 😊😍

After being sick for two weeks, I was feeling lots better last Sunday and all week until last night. I ate pretty well and was getting back into exercising. Last night I started feeling bad again, stuffy, sore throat, very tired. I took claritin this morning and I've spent this whole day in bed. I never knew if the last problem was allergies or illness because neither cold meds nor allergy meds helped. The claritin has at least dried up the drip down my throat, and staying in bed all day has me feeling less tired right now. I will stick with the claritin for a few days and maybe that will help. Meanwhile, nothing much is getting done here this weekend.

@PoliteOcean Thank you! I feel better this morning than I did yesterday, so I am going to stick with the Claritin-D. I did get laundry done yesterday and took out the trash, but otherwise was pretty much in bed.

This week has been okay, but pretty busy!

I did some strength training and yoga this week :)

Highs was the mental health fair I helped out with and lows would be my cracking knees :/

I want to work on mindfulness.

Luckily I've been able to keep up with Taekwondo this week and was confident I could make the two classes the least sore I've been as a black belt who is on their 4th week back after a 3 year break, but unfortunately I pulled my hamstring the second class. Luckily it wasn't a terrible pull, so hopefully I will be able to go back this week.

I've been a lot more active this week. Playing tennis, walking the dogs, and just getting up and moving more has made my energy go up a lot.

Having a decent day compared to the last week. My nerves are shot due to worrying about my back surgery this Thursday. Tonight I am actually going to get out of the house and visit with friends. Don't know how long my pain will let me stay but at least I'm trying!

I experienced some strange symptoms for about 12 hours yesterday, I'm not sure if they are related to working out or not. I can at least pinpoint the exercise that caused it if that was the problem. I felt fine doing it and have some really slight soreness today from it, nothing out of the ordinary so figuring things out isn't easy. Will just discuss with my trainer and dial back a bit on that even though it felt ok - see where that takes me the next time with it.

I pulled out an old Wii board to use as a raised option for the exercise I found difficult before. The Wii board is quite low, so it certainly isn't a challenge. I was thinking maybe it's too easy, but I'm reassessing that in my mind now as what I throw in at home should be easy especially to start. Just going through the motions may be enough to improve some of the strength in those little areas that are the weakest. I might progress by putting some textbooks under it, hopefully that will feel stable enough. I'll try to keep an eye out on used steps for sale.

Overall, happy with my progress. The number of hours spent just sitting on the couch really has dropped over the last month+ and I'm happy to see that's been fairly consistent. I certainly do get times of just pure exhaustion because I'm getting out more but considering how often I used to get exhausted doing nothing it's a pretty big change over a fairly short time frame.

Something I would like to focus more on is good targeted stretching. I had a massage this week and discovered a trigger point that was leading to some of my pain and the stretches I was doing to try to fix the issue weren't targeting the right area. Another trigger point in my back got quite bad, I need to learn how to work with that better.

@AffyAvo

Another awesome check-in Affy!.....Sounds like you are really coming along between finding new things to incorporate, to not feeling as tired as before, to incorporating things to help you feel even better (massages) and such....

Just hearing the word "Massage" relaxes me.. I haven't had one in years. A good professional one anyway. But I know what you mean by finding and targeting those "trigger points".

I do hope that you figure out what caused your issue yesterday....So that you can avoid it in the future. Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing. Please keep us informed of your progress!
