****ANY AND ALL "NEWBIES" PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE YOUR WEEK WITH US!****
**This past week has gone decent and went by pretty fast. My Fitness classes went well. I stayed on track with most things (workouts, meals, sleep). A few thing found me "up in my feelings" here and there, but I managed to push through them. Today I got to spend the Day with my son! Which meant the world to me as I don't get to see him often. We went to the nutrition store and got a Nutrition shake/Tea Combo, then went to sit at the lake, and then take the dogs for a walk together. Then to my moms who made us all dinner! It was a great day.~
**I've been seeing a few more Group Fitness classes open up around the area, some a little further than I want to drive, but...since I am no longer teaching at my former studio and getting classes for free, I have to try to make other things work. So, I'm going to continue to work on some type of schedule of classes that I'd like to take and get involved in to keep me going during the times I'm not teaching... even if that means going to various Fitness centers and doing a 'Drop in Fee". As long as I'm able to continue to keep active through the fall/winter months ahead.
**The ladies that I am instructing in my regular classes are finding it challenging to workout on the days that we don't meet-up as well as get back on track with their meals since Covid hit. Some are requesting to do some type of Fitness Challenge to help. And while I've done them before, I know they don't want anything too complicated, and just want something to keep them accountable and motivated as well... So I'm trying to think of the most basic one that I can to help them with BOTH... But can't come up with what quite to do yet. Any ideas are welcomed!?!
**I saw a Free Event for a VERY nearby Kickboxing class in the morning, so... I signed up to take it~ I'm not truly into Kickboxing or anything, but its ok and keeps you moving. And its free, so that doesn't hurt either. And it will break up the monotny of my morning walks~ So intentions are to do that in the morning, and then some errands throughout the day until the hubby gets back from out of town.
ENJOY THE WEEKEND~![]()
@PoliteOcean
Yay for spending the day with your son, that sounds lovely !
For the fitness challenge, at the start of the year Blogilates did a pretty easy challenge, so that was achievable and nice to keep active, basically for 2020 it was 20 reps of one exercise, 20 reps of another exercise, every day. Or some kind of plank challenge so they can compare their times and encourage each others?
Take care!
Hi PoliteOcean :D
Doing good this week, been putting in some gym time. Im getting used to being back without having that self-conscious feeling that I normally get. I do need to find a Zumba class tho, Planet Fitness (the gym I currently belong to) doesnt have group fitness. I am in need to dance. Otherwise, cardio and weight training until I can find one, let alone catch.
September is definitely flying. October is almost here and my kiddo is jonesing to put up the Halloween decorations already. Not sure if there will be trick or treaters this year but we will anticipate it. I hope by the end of this month, I find a class :D Otherwise, planning on continuing where I am now.
My Feel Good things lately or recently have been the gym. I pop in my ear buds and rock it in there….Treadmill with incline then weight or strength training. I focus on my goals and leave sweaty and feeling amazing….kinda sounds a little selfish but having this feeling of accomplishment definitely is addicting.
Favorite song or movie…good question. I havent really watched much movies lately, though would like watch Mulan, curious about the changes they have made from the original animated one. Songs, im not really good with artist names and song titles but lately my Pandora have been on Latin and HipHop stations haha
My struggles have been journaling my foods, which I know I cant slack off. Journaling keeps me being mindful about what I put in my body. I have noticed my lax and need to get back on it. I have come this far to only fall back…
What I like to maybe see what everyone does to keep active J Maybe we have had this discussion already and I may have missed it.
Hope yall have an amazing day and week! I'll be in and out this week :D take care
@Keola
The changes made in the new Mulan were definitely interesting although the original animated one will always stay my favourite! I hope you get the chance to watch it soon and see for yourself!
@Keola
Well hey there girl!...Its so great to see you back for two weeks in a row! Thats awesome! I did respond to you last week as well, but not sure if you saw it being in and out?.. But its so great that you are back on track and staying in the game! And that you are working hard and making alot of great healthy steps for yourself! So proud of you!...
Its so great that you are back in the gym. My husband goes to Planet Fitness too, but hasn't been there since the whole pandemic thing. And yes they are a really great affordable gym, but thats the challenging part is that they don't have the Group fitness classes, and I know that is something that I personally need too to keep me accountable and on track. My husband just goes for the Machines and weights so its perfect for him! lol.. But you know how us "ZUMBA GIRLS" are!! lol
I was wondering myself about the Trick or Treating this year. My birthday is actually very close to Halloween so its a very favorite time of mine of the year. But, not sure what I will be doing myself as far as decorating.
And Nothing wrong (or selfish) about being addicted to the feeling of accomplishment!!... That is too far and few in between right now with so many having fallen off the wagon during these past crazy few months we've had. So keep up the awesome work that you are doing girl! And keep popping in those ear buds, and workin' that treadmill!
ahhh.... Good old Latin & Hip Hop.... my kinda girl!
... Thats how we work it & keep it movin'!
As far as food journaling or journaling your journey period, is definitely a great way to help you stay on track. So yes by all means, try to schedule it into your day somewhere to help keep you motivated! Try it on your lunch break if you're busy at work, or late in the evening right after getting everything done for the night and before going to bed.... What might be more helpful with that is tracking each day "ahead". Like pre-planning? That way you are always a day ahead, and by going to that journal and looking over what you are "supposed" to have for that day, it kind of keeps you even more accountable!
You've got this girl. You are doing so great. And I Love the "TWO FOR TWO"!...(2 checkins this month
) Keep it coming! And keep up the great work! And thank you so much for checking in with us and keeping us up to date on things!
@PoliteOcean
Thank you so much!
I did miss your reply last week but will read up on it :) I truly love the support and motivation and the energy I get from you, thank you so much!
Heya ! I feel the month hasnt been the most productive and has been a rather anxious one so far… Im really starting to feel the delay accumulating on my phd work, the extension of my contract got refused, which wasnt a surprise but adds up to the stress. Im realizing that its been one year and Ive got zero result… Of course some things have been done and all but yeah, no actual result, everything is getting delayed and then once things get unstuck I end up having too much to handle at the same time… but well, Im still looking forward things getting unstuck as even if it means lots of multitasking, its extremely stimulating and I love that!
This week Ive started working out again, which hurtttt but also felt so good! I started a new program and its a pretty challenging one so thats great! Ive also done a mobility/stretching session the other day, which I never take the time to do, and that really felt good!
I dont really have a favourite song/movie, but the only thing that motivates me to study lately is EDM music blasting in my ears, it seems to keep me focused!
On a positive note, I managed to avoid something at work, which would have involved stuff Im not okay with on an ethical level, so I was really glad and relieved to see I was on the same ground as my team on these questions, as scientific studies can involve disturbing stuff…
Also i'm hoping to manage to kick my butt tomorrow morning and go on a run to discover a new area nearby!
@LinearWaves
Hey LinearWaves,
Don't worry too much about productivity, you'll surely catch up soon and will do even better than before. This times have been rough for all of us but everything is getting better and your efforts to get your Phd will pay sooner than later. As you say wisely, recovering the pace is stimulating and you are not the one that will give up.
It's great that you are doing well witht the workouts, good luck with your new program, of course you'll keep on feeling good.
It's nice that your ethical concerns remain a priority and good that you could handle it avoiding stuff that you don't want to get involved with. Good for you.
Let us know about your exploring discoveries while running. See you next week.
@Traveller8
Thanks for your support! Have a lovely day!
@LinearWaves
Hey there Waves!...
I'm so sorry to hear that you are finding yourself and things haven't been so productive this past month and that its been anxious as well. So sorry to also hear about the contract getting refused. Thats alot of different things to deal with in such a short time. Its really great that you are continuing to try keeping a great attitude about things moving forward and even multi-tasking if needed! And that you perhaps even get a little "rush" from that!
How awesome for you that you've started working out again and that you are enjoying it so much!.... I love the 'rush' of a good workout! How cool for the new program. I did that too, I found a virtual bootcamp for a really low cost! So far so good~.. Mobility and stretching is REAAALLLY underestimated!... We truly do need that. it helps to lengthen our muscles after workouts and makes our bodies more flexible and stronger for the workouts we are doing! Sadly,.... I don't get enough of it either nor take the time to do it..~
How great that you were able to avoid a unethical situation at work...Thats not always easy to do depending on what it is. And can even tend to divide co-workers/team-mates. Speaking from personal experience~ So I get it!
I hope that you able to enjoy your run and kick your own butt!
... Its always so cool to discover new and exciting places to walk, run and workout! Its makes the effort even more worth it! ..... Thank you so much for checking in and letting us know how things are continuing to go for you!
@PoliteOcean
Heya ! Thanks for your support and kind words !
Its actually funny, my new program is bootcamp-oriented as well! I hope you have lots of fun doing yours!
Yeah that run didnt go too well thanks to some guy following me and slapping me just before running away cowardly, so that new area is definitely a no go…
Have a great day!
@PoliteOcean I had a super busy week - but that's good because I'm so far behind. Monday I had a psychological therapy appointment. It's going well. Tuesday I met with my social worker, Wednesday I had a video court appearance, but my lawyer took care of things. Thursday I had an appointment with my primary care physician, and Friday I had an appointment with my homeopath. I hope I can talk a little about my early childhood trauma. One thing I talked to my psychologist about was that my father kept a loaded pistol in the house when I was 11 years old. He wanted me to feel safe. It did just the opposite, I was very afraid and very worried. I didn't have anyone to talk to about this, so I just kept all my feelings inside. On a more happy note, my caretaker has been taking me to the grocery store, and I've been cooking lunches for myself, and they turn out really well. My next project is I need to fill out the forms to renew my government benefits, it usually goes well, but I just hope they don't kick it back this time. I've been participating in the sharing circles and they are very helpful in helping me overcome my burdens.
@Regmo
Hi Regmo,
You've been extra busy and you managed to did a lot of things. Hope all outcomes to be the best for you. It's good that you can have the chance to talk about issues you've been keeping to yourself, guess it'll be helpful and helps you to feel relieved.
It's really nice that your caretaker is being that helpful, hope you are enjoying the trips to buy groceries as much as it transpires you are enjoying cooking your own lunches. Good luck with the forms you need to fill and let's hope for a positive answer.
@Regmo
Hey there Regmo! Wow, yes it does sound like you had a Super, incredibly busy week for yourself! I hope that you found them all productive for you. Thats good that you were able to talk to and share your feelings with your Psych doctor about your father and how what he did made you feel. I can understand how the feelings of knowing that was in the house could have kept your mind worried and racing at such a young age. I was like that too. Always worried about the little things like that, that others might not seem to find as worriesome. I'm glad to hear that you are getting out and that things seem to be working out so far with your caregiver! Its great they were able to get you out to the grocery store! Sometimes when I get to go I feel like a kid in a candy-store because theres so many things to look at, or recipes that come to mind, or new foods I might want to make or try. Its so great that you are getting to cook lunches for yourself ! I'm sure that has been so beneficial to you and your wellbeing! And also knowing that you finally get to eat something that you actually like! Which government benefits do you have to reapply for if you don't mind me asking? I was just curious if it was benefits related or disability related. Its great for you that the sharing circle has been helpful to you and helping you overcome things and release some burdens off your shoulders. Sounds like you are really doing well, keep up the great work that you are doing and thank you for continuing to check in with us to let us know how things are going. Always so good to hear how you are doing.
Boy oh boy this month has really thrown a curveball. In my personal life, the month is going well. I have to say I'm glad I decided to venture out and try a new form of creating art for a class. Each time I work on it, I spend hours and hours straight on it. I haven't gotten lost in a "flow state" like that in a very long time. It's weird though, each time I have to work, I get very anxious / frustrated and then I just start doing something... and soon enough it's been hours. Has resulted in headaches and clenched teeth overnight.
I'm not quite sure what I'd like to get done before the month ends other than personal goals of starting and maintaining some good health habits. Getting lost in work has some side effects that aren't exactly positive. Always some room for improvement, though. I saw the post on sleep, and I may need to implement that. Still running on empty and maybe that's why I'm clenching my jaw. I'm so tired that I'm not tired anymore haha
Song that puts me in a good mood... the other day I listened to Mayday Parade feat. Piece the Veil's cover of "Somebody That I Used to Know" and it felt as glorious as the first time I heard it as a teen. Neck Deep released a new album that I enjoy too. But I've also been enjoying jazz in the mornings, and never a bad time to listen to some 1940s swing / easy listening / jazz in my opinion. Whatever genre you'd put Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Ella Fitzgerald, etc.... I've been going back into that part of me, the old soul haha.. it just reminds me of the holiday season which I really need to recreate for myself right now! I've been tense apparently. Sorry for going on and on!
Thanks for the check in! Have a great day or night :D
@Lexloveslife
Hi Lexloveslife,
Seems like it was a good week in an overall not so bad month for you after all. Good news that things are going well in your personal life. And what you said about a newform of creating art that keeps you positively busy is wonderful. Headaches and clenched teeth not as good, but surely you'll find a way to balance it all soon.
As you said, hope that your goal to get and mantain better health habits start to happen. It's good that you take extra care of the sleep issue, specially if you feel tired way beyong being tired.
Have a nice week. Keep going!
@Lexloveslife
Hey there Lex..
Thats tough to feel like you're having curve-balls thrown your way, but Its good to hear that you are finding some positivity in your creative art class!
While the creative art class is a positive for you, I do hope that you find a way to overcome some of the not so positive things that are associated with it for you. And I hope that you find that sleep is something that no longer evades you soon! I know that has been a trouble spot for you for a little while.
Its great to hear that you have such great songs and tunes to put you a great mood. I too like the sounds of a little "Jazz" every now and then. I don't get to hear it too often, but when I do, it surely is soothing. Now Swing is REALLY fun!.. I love when I see someone use Swing in a Zumba class. Which isn't very often. But Swing is so fun and such a pick-me-up sound. Thats funny that you mentioned "Old Soul".. I call my son that all the time. He's young, only in his early 20's, but he's such an "old soul" and far beyond his years. And yes.. I do agree with that.. Hearing those sounds totally remind me of the holidays too! Lol... If you've ever been to any Italian places/stores etc..., they play ALOT of that type of music of course, and every time you go it always sounds like the holiday season no matter when you're there. lol...
Thanks so much for checking in this week and letting us know how thing are going. I enjoyed reading about your music and getting to know a different side of you!.. Thanks for sharing that!.. Take care and have a great week ahead!

@Goldcherry2113
Hey there... Sorry to hear that your new meds are making your sleepy. Hopefully that will eventually wear off or that it won't be so bothersome the more you take them.
I'm sad this time of year is over as well... I do love the Fall, but Summer will Always be my most favorite season. And with everything going on around us, it seems it just went entirely too fast.... And its great that you are continuing to make goals for yourself. 5lbs is surely a very attainable goal to reach! You can do it!
How awesome that you took a day for yourself to recharge and take time for personal care. Good for you! Keep up the great work. We defintely need those kinds of days!.
Sounds like you are really doing a great job working and improving things in your journey! Keep up the great work that you are doing. Its also good to hear from you and I appreciate you checking in to let us know how things are going!
**Hey Everyone~How are you doing this week?
I'm still in Rehab for my hip. I am hoping to go home soon. I was hoping to go home over the weekend but it didn't happen. Today my big goal is to be up most the day and exercise.. 30 min walking, 10 min chair exercise, and upper body strength exercises.
**We are almost nearing the end of September already!? Time is surely flying by~ How do you feel this month is going for you so far? What would you like to get done or accomplished before it ends?!
This month has been healing from my hip fracture. I can tell I'm getting stronger each day, but I suffer bouts of depression and feeling like what I do doesn't matter because most of it is decided on and determined by me. I would like to go home before the month ends.
**What are some "Feel Good" things that you've done recently that has put you in a Good Space?! (Not so much "self-care", ) But rather what is something that has simply made you Feel Good in the moment just by having done it or taken the time to do it? It can be something for yourself or others.
I made an order for sweats and slip on walking shoes that I'll need after i get home today and I've been taking time to paint my nails.
**For Fun: What is currently your Favorite Song or Movie?! Or one that puts you in a GREAT Mood or INSPIRES YOU?! Share it with us!
My favorite movie right now is Moana. My favorite song is "Hard Love" from the group NEEDTOBREATHE
@berryfields2409
Hey there!.. So sorry to hear that you are still in Rehab. I hope that you are able to get home soon. Sounds like you had a lot of big goals through various needed exercises. I hope that it all worked out for you and that you are finding them beneficial and helping!
Its also so great that you are continuing to heal and getting stronger each day! I'm sure being away from your home in combination with healing from a fracture has you feeling some depressive moments and feelings. I'm sorry to hear that. The important thing is to continue to do whats needed and stay as focuses as you are able to progress and being able to get back to you home in the timeframe that you desire!
How nice that you are ordering things and getting prepared for when you go home. And that you are also engaging in some positive self-care activities to make you feel good! (Like painting your nails)!.. I too love to have nice nails.
Continue to keep up with all the good work that you are doing and I'm sure that you will be on your way home before you know it! We are here to support you! Best of luck to you and your continued recovery! Thank you so much for checking in and letting us know how thing are going for you!
