(And ANY and ALL "NEWBIES"!)
This week has gone by pretty fast....I started it off celebrating my anniversary. And of course with "celebration" we don't always stay on track
So... I got off track this past week with my eating and didn't really keep up with my Weight Watcher points, but just tried to "not" over-do it..... and we had a bunch of rain here as well, so I didn't get out much to do my walking like I do at least 3 nights a week. But I did manage to Sub a Zumba class this week, as well as Co-teach another. And just tried to get in my steps and do exercises around the house. I didn't even get my puppy out all week until today finally!.. He loved it.
Anxiety levels have been here and there, but I just try to use my coping skills and keep on moving along~~ Goals and Plans for September are to keep doing what I can to get to my personal weight goal, and build a little more muscle (tone-up), to hopefully add some new activity and classes if possible, and I want to try to work on getting some more Fitness licenses (I have my mind set on 3 different ones for now)...And hopefully to make a little extra cash subbing other classes as well...( I particulary like subbing for Zumba Gold, which is working with the Elderly or debilitated population)....And To also be mindful of my water intake, since with summer coming to an end soon, I tend not to take in as much. I also want to continue getting "little" things done around the house that I've been working on....
Today is also "Rest Day" (or rather REST WEEKEND!) since its Labor Day Weekend here.... So just would like to relax and enjoy with the hubby..... Hope everyone else is having a good week!
@PoliteOcean Nice that you have this weekly healthly living ck. in.! ![]()
I am most proud of in August, I have been bicycling often such as day before yesterday, 20 kilometers in a beautiful area.
Exercise makes me feel good.
High of the month, visiting with a best friend that I do not see often since they moved.
Goal to find a healthy living motivation on my goals buddy.
@inventiveWheel
Hey there Wheel.... sounds like you are doing a great job at moving in the direction of living a healthier lifestyle. Its great that you are able to get activitiy in that you love and enjoy as that usually makes it easier! And its even nicer that you were able to catch up with an old friend. I'm sure that was fun....
As far as the Healthy Living Buddies, you can always make a "NEW" post in that section stating that you are looking for one... and the fact that the last post that you saw was in February may just be what you saw, however, there are others who have posted in there looking for "Buddy" since this summer as well.... So if you make a post, perhaps you will get an answer from someone who wants the same, as well, you can reply to anyone who seems to be looking for one too!
Thank you so much for checking in this week! Keep up the great work!
@inventiveWheel
Any suggestions for long bike rides?
@PoliteOcean I would like a healthy living buddy. Is that over? The last post asking for a buddy was in February.
@PoliteOcean
How has everyone been doing this past week!? I have doing pretty good :)
Are you ready to take on September?! YES! I love the fall.
What new goals or plans do you have for this month? better eating habits
What things are you most proud of from the month of August? getting work things done
What things have you accomplished this past week? better mood
What have been your highs/lows? highs: more energy lows: some work stress
@Mellietronx
Wow Mellie!... You sound like you have had a GREAT week?!!... You sound really positive about the things that you have accomplished as well as the goals that you intend to achieve! You can do it!... I know we can all get into "slumps" every now and then, but you are making great progress this past week and great to hear that your energy is doing so well!
Keep up the great work that you are doing, and thank you so much for checking in!
The morning after my workout this week is probably the best I have ever felt the day after working out. I think back to where I was in January, questioning what had actually been improved with that effort I put in - I just needed to wait longer to see it and not get discouraged when recovering from extra health stuff.
I think it's also fair to say that supplements are helping, the amount of things I'm doing in a week has increased quite a bit. The fatigue is still there but the number of good hours has increased and it takes more to hit those 'crashes'. I also seem to recover from them a bit easier than just before I started the level of supplements I'm on.
Some things to work with in the next while -
Dealing with a large amount of tomatoes from the garden! I've done a few dishes including things I've frozen but it was really just the start.
Safely increasing my workout intensity. I've been working just as hard as before but I think I can manage a bit more, whether it's increased intensity or maybe frequency. With the weather cooling down I would also like to get out walking a bit when the air quality is decent (last few days have been smokey).
Seeing my nephews more frequently. This past month has been great for how much I see them. Some of that was because my sister had some issues where she needed help. She's the type where she likes to do it on her own but I think she's realizing how nice it is to have someone help so they both get the attention they want, even if it's not a necessity. I also just love spending time with them!
@AffyAvo
Wow Affy... yet "Another" awesome post from you...... Such positive things for you. That is really great! (I know I don't personally talk alot about my physical issues here, but when I hear how great you are doing, it is always hopeful for the rest of us as I know that you deal with so much).... So in a way when you are having a great day or a great week, it certainly sends me positive vibes as well. So I'm glad to hear it.... Its great that you are doing so well with your workouts, as well as the intensity levels. I'm sure it makes you feel stronger physically and mentally?!
I think its really great that you are also getting to spend so much time with your nephews as well... seems to make you very happy. Which in turn can help with keeping you feeling emotionally healthy! Its really good that you seem to have a great "bond" with them.
I hope the job is also going well for you!.. ...Continue to keep up the great work! And thank you so much for checking in this week!
@PoliteOcean Thanks! It really does feel great, especially with all the effort I have put in, not just with managing the exercise properly, but all the other things in trying to get a place that was more satisfactory with my health issues.
I hope you can find the right solutions to improving/living with your physical issues too.
Somewhere I got off track and haven't posted here, or anywhere else, in a long time. Part of the problem is that I haven't felt all that good the past few months. Don't know if it's related to my chronic illness or just one of those things. Normally I'm good at staying away from junk food but it has been junk food city here lately. Unfortunately when I'm tired, junk food is easier than making something. I'm going to try to do a reboot my life, make some healthy meals, and get some exercise. I'm hoping the extra rest from a long weekend and the cooler weather will help too.
@brightCherry8538
I totally understand what you are saying.....Its ok that we "Fall off track" every now and then.. We're only human and its bound to happen at times. We can't be perfect all the time. I too have fallen off track this past week, however, we admit what we've done and own up to it, and just pick ourselves up the best we are able and try to continue to move forward and improve on what we can.
Its so great that you are able to acknowledge these things and decided to "check-in" today! We are glad to have you here and to hear from you! Its really great that you have goals in mind, and are ready to make them happen and suceed at them. We are here to help you or to just listen if you need to vent. Thats what this thread is here for! You just try to check in, let us know how you feel and vent about what you need to! We are here to support you!
Thank you so much for checking in this week, and I know you CAN do this... and that you WILL do great! Check back "next week" and let us know how you've been doing once this weekend is over. (I know with this being Labor Day weekend, I'm "allowing" myself to enjoy it in whatever ways I am able. We should be allowed to do the things we enjoy. Do your best to allow for "moderation" and then get back on track. We can do this!!
How has everyone been doing this past week!?
Well I'm exhausted at this point. We've been visiting family for almost 2 weeks. Did a major organization of part of sister's house, cooked a ton of home cooked meals for her and her teenagers - her husband died very unexpectadly last year so she is totally overwhelemed, and then traveled to brother's wedding for the past 3 days. It was great to see tons of family from all across the country and old friends that we haven't seen in years due to everyone living in different states now. Soon we'll be flying home and it will be good to get back to our own house and own bed.
Are you ready to take on September?! Defintely not - LOL. I feel so incredibly behind and October is insane for us so I need to knock out a lot in September.
What new goals or plans do you have for this month? I really want to work on our purge of the house. I've starting making a bin of stuff to find new homes, but I haven't gotten anything out yet. That and cleaning up the yard and getting some tree work done for the property. And I DEFINTELY want to start back on losing weight. I've seen a couple of photos of me from the wedding and all I wanted to do was cry.
What things are you most proud of from the month of August? I managed to sell our rental property that has been a huge stressor for me. That's done and totally off my list.
What things have you accomplished this past week? Wedding, cleaning and organizing.
What have been your highs/lows? I've pushed my limit on moving and doing things. I also used my mindfulness exercises when dealing with folks that pushed all my buttons and drove me crazy. As well as avoiding the folks that pushed my anxiety way up. I did bad with food and drink this week, but I know that once I get back home that will be a lot better
@DragonFaerie
Sounds like you have had some Crazy-busy times this summer?!!....
Its great that you got to travel and see and visit with you Family... I didn't travel as much as I would have liked, or see all of the family that I wanted to see, but the year isn't over yet.. I haven't seen most of mine in about 5 years. So its great that you were able to get a chance to see everyone.
I imagine that all the busy-ness of everything has gottent you a little off track, and that happens.... as thats 'life'. But you have acknowledged it as well as knowing that you need to get back on track and what it will take to get you there.......
I see you also are involved with "rental properties".. my husband wants to get involved in that as well. Investing in real-estate etc..etc...I imagine that can be a whole "other" kind of stress as well?!...I'm sure it felt good to "un-load" it though and be done with it. I hope that you are able to find some kind of "calm and normalcy" soon! Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing!
I am ok! I am at college (1st year!) and there is a ton of adjusting, but I think I'm ok for the most part... maybe a little depressed but hopefully that'll pass. I have to do a lot of walking, so I'm hoping that's making me slightly healthier because it's exercise. I need to make sure I'm eating regular meals and not going to bed too late. I recently shared some stuff about my trauma with some friends, which felt amazing. They were super nice about it.
I don't really know what to expect from September and classes starting and stuff...hopefully I'll figure it out as I go along!
@lovingBanana5204
Hey there Loving!.. Its so great to see you check in this week.... First year of college! Sounds great for you!... I know that can be the first real "big" change in life... And I'm sure it will take a little time to "adjust" its a process, but it will all come together for you. Just know that we are also here to help you and support you :)
The extra walking that you have to do is great since as you said its a great way to get you a little healthier (by adding more steps, getting in more activity, burning more calories, etc...) So thats definitely a "positive"!....... Its nice that you were able to share your Trauma with others who were able to be understanding and supportive of you during a time when you needed it. Its great that you felt comfortable and safe enough with them to be able to do that. They must be really great friendships! You are blessed and not everyone can say that. So thats awesome........I hope that you continue to enjoy the college life! Everything else will fall in line! Thank you for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing. Keep up the great work!

I missed last week so I need to catch up because I've been doing lots. Two weekends ago my 2 sisters came to visit and we spent a day together in a nearby city. We did fun stuff including a walking food tour. I bombarded my body all weekend with bad food and I felt sick by the end of the weekend, but it was worth it. A few days of healthy eating got me feeling good again.
Then this past Thursday the little germ factories at school took me down after only 3 weeks of school! I've been sick since then but starting to feel better. I had been doing a lot of moderate exercise, but since getting sick I have not done any exercise since Thursday. I will probably go to yoga tomorrow.
I used the 3-day weekend to make soap for the first time since January. I am still a novice and was pretty rusty, so I ended up ruining over half of the batches I made by making stupid mistakes. These are for Christmas presents and need time to cure, so I need to find time to make more soon!
On Saturday, being sick, combined with PMS, got me thinking about my Dad and there were lots of tears, but I'm happy to say that at least I was ony sad and not depressed. I am feeling better mentally today. Still not much energy. but I think I'm getting better.
@SadMe70
Hey Sad!..Great to see you this week.. I did notice that you were out last week, but I do remember you saying that you were going to spend some time with your sister. I'm glad that went well for you!... And a "Walking Tour" sounds really fun. Me and my husband like to do 'Walking Ghost Tours" during the Fall Season lol.....Great way to have some Fun as well as "sneak" in some Activity as well!.... And as far as going a little over-board on the food, at least you enjoyed and had a good time. Sometimes we just have to enjoy ourselves!.. (I got off track myself between celebrating my anniversary last weekend, as well it rolling over into this Holiday weekend too) lol... Now its time to start over and get back on track "YET" again!).....
Sorry to hear that you weren't feeling well, but I do hope that you are starting to feel a little better and manage to get in your "plan" for some Yoga!...Its also great that you found time as well as like to make your own soap. I am finding alot of people I know are starting to do that type of thing. I think its really cool. I used to buy homemade soap which was for the hair. Tiny little "bars".. I found them beneficial. I haven't bought any in a while though. But they made my hair feel so clean.
I'm sorry to hear that you are still having a challenging time dealing with the passing of your Dad. But of course that is not something that will just go away completely. It does take time and that time is so very different for everyone...Its still pretty "fresh" for you, so take the time that you need..... and in time, it will eventually not feel so overwhelming.. Its awesome that you were able to get through those feelings and are feeling better now and that your depression didn't take over thats definitely a "Positive"!.......Thank you so much for checking in this week and letting us know how you've been doing! :) Take care of yourself!
