🌞 This past week was mostly standard.... Last weekend started off rather dreary... But I started off Mother's Day weekend getting in some home workouts to start off each day, & then got treated to a Wonderful Mother's Day dinner on Saturday evening... On Sunday, I spent time with my mom & son (& the Furbaby of course)..... My son got me some great giftcards, treats & a beautiful bouquet of flowers.... In between those moments, I focused on some relaxation & self-care time... Overall it was a nice weekend.
🌷 As the week itself started off I got back on track with the typical (work, workouts, appointments, meal-planning/tracking)...etc... I've been continuing on in my personal May goals, even though I haven't made the progress so far that I was wanting to by this point... But I'm continuing to plug away at them & move forwards. The weather continued to go back & forth with rain this past week, but some outdoor time and walks with the Furbaby were manageable.... My physical wellbeing also told me to "scale-back" a bit this past week, so I did. And that helped mentally.. I still need to work on my hydration, but sleep overall was pretty decent this week.
🍉 This weekend ahead, the weather is supposed to finally cooperate a bit more, so intentions are to get in an early Saturday morning Zumba class. Then hopefully the patio & deck remodel on my home will also begin?!... Intentions are to also enjoy a little bit of time at the Lake, & there are also some Pre-summer events & festivities going on around the area.... So looking to check in to those as well before prepping for the week ahead... I'm honestly just looking forward to moving through the upcoming week & looking forward to the long Holiday weekend ahead "next weekend"...
ENJOY THE WEEKEND
@PoliteOcean Here's how the past week went. Someone actually cleaned the bathtub for the first time in a year or longer. I finished the discussion questions for "The Awkward Age" and "The Ambassadors" by Henry James. I'm currently almost finished with "Bel-Ami" by Guy de Maupassant. I continue to de-stress from being abused by Stuart James and Lemay. I got a $45 refund from my credit card company from a scammer dating app I signed up for. I hired a new caretaker. Her name is Gianna and she starts on Monday. For this upcoming week I have a massage scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday. The next book on my reading list is "The Age of Innocence" by Edith Wharton. Then is a lyric poem by T.S. Elliott called "The Wasteland". I'm guaranteed funding for my medical expenses from Leo the trustee for the next 5 months. It's enough for pain reduction but not enough to get cured. Having to fire Tunde was a big disruption to my healing. I've been chatting with a few celebrities on social media. I know there are a lot of fake celebrity accounts but I wind up finding out if they are fake after short time.
@Regmo
Hey Regmo~ That’s good for you that you finished your discussion questions & almost finishing up with your next, as well as being able to get a refund on your credit card, and of course finding & hiring a new caregiver. …. As far as continuing to destress from those that you feel abused you, I personally find that the best thing to do with those that stressed my life in some way, is to no longer mention them, talk about them, or even allow them to occupy space in my mind or thoughts. When you continue to do that it only continues to rob you of your peace… Hopefully you find that the continued ongoing massages help with this as well in allowing you to be able to relax & decompress. So it’s a good thing that your funding will be available to be accessed for several more months. Even a reduction in pain can help provide better quality in our overall wellbeing. Hopefully the new caregiver will continue to do her job going forward thereby allowing you to get to those appts. when needed. Continue to keep us updated on how things are working out with her and how things are moving along. And Thanks for checking in to share your week with us.
🌞 Hey all~ Welcome to the Weekend~ How did your week go for you?...This week went well, just a notch above status quo if you know what I mean lol.... And what are your plans for this weekend ahead?! This weekend I have household chores, laundry, grocery shop, the usual adult things... I will also take the window AC units out of the attic and basement, open them up and clean them....I have 4 so this will take most of one of the weekend days....(this something I think a lot of folks don't do before putting them back in....you'd be surprised the build up and junk you could be spreading in the air from just one season....regularly cleaning the filters is OK but they really do need so much more, in my opinion)
🌷 This is our "3RD" Check-in for MAY~... We are already officially "Half-way" through this month... How are things going for you so far & How are you progressing along with any goals or intentions your may have set for yourself this month?! I've managed to incorporate a half-@$$ed workout routine after work....its hit or miss depending on if I get out of work on time....I'm up to at least 3 times a week, where I'd like to do 5 or 6 but...it is what it is....it was nice out yesterday so I did an outside bike ride yesterday(lots of hills) so the Saturday morning spin class I was going to do won't be happening....do to some things, cycling 2 days in a row isn't good for me....I may walk or lift today, not sure yet what the day will entail...I am still working on eating better......its a major struggle for me that I can't seem to get under control....I no will power when it comes to good food....I will continue to work on this until I can get it right....
🍉 As we continue to move through May's "Mental Health Awareness Month", It's important to allow yourself time to recharge from day to day.... Sometimes we might even feel guilt for taking time to meet our basic wellness needs.... In What ways have you practiced Or found Balance in Or over your Day to Day Mental health & Wellbeing?!.... CLICK HERE on our Wellness Wednesday link & (Share with us how you are "Nourishing your Mind & Mental Health" in positive ways this month)?! As far as mental health goes, I can honestly say I really don't have anything specific I've been doing that I pay attention to for mental health specifically...I'm not doing anything differently than I have been....Just one moment at a time.....I seem to be in a good place right now so what ever it is I've been doing or not doing must be working lol....
🌞 JUST FOR FUN: Name ONE Food that you could Eat at ANY meal?!...Pizza....I feel like I'm part TMNT.....If you don't get the reference, ask and I'll fill you in....
🌷 What were your "Highlights or Struggles" of the week?... How were you able to work through your Challenges in a Healthy Way?! I have not been on 7cups like I should be.....with the weather changing, I've been off the computer and doing other things....I still look, read, and scroll the site on my phone, but I really have issues navigating the android app....fonts are small, hard to read without my glasses, going back and forth between threads is impossible for me and forget typing anything.....auto correct and fat fingers make it impossible....I like to be on the laptop, I can move within a community by opening multiple tabs, scrolling and reading is easier....
🍉 What is something else that "YOU" want to Talk about, Add, Or Share with us this week?!... WE want to hear from YOU~As always, thanks for sharing these weekly "open my mind and make me think about myself, my life, and the things around me.....Have a wonderful weekend....
@CyclingThroughLife
Hey there Cycling~ That’s good for you that your week went well. (A notch above status quo definitely makes it even better)… It sounds like you also have quite a lot of things to do this weekend that will keep you busy. (Adulting is hard isn’t it?! 🤪) lol.. And yes getting those units/filters cleaned is a necessity.. Even as a nurse, we had to do this with oxygen filters & medical equipment & different units. Stuff most people probably wouldn’t even think about doing regularly. We even had a schedule to do it to ensure it got done.
That’s awesome for you that you managed to put together a workout routine for yourself. I know that is something you were trying to figure out... So good for you in squeezing something in after work. It doesn’t matter how long it is, how hard/easy it is, etc.. the important thing is that you are doing it! And it’s something. And that you are moving your body…. Even if you feel it’s not exactly what you desire to be doing, That will continue to come with time once you continue to keep making things a habit for yourself. And 3 times a week is wonderful. So keep up the great work. And Don’t stop, because you will get there... And that’s also great your weather has finally cooperated where you are to get those bike rides in. And of course with ongoing cooperating weather, I’m sure eventually you will be able to squeeze in more of what you love & enjoy.
As far as eating well/better/healthier etc.., that can definitely ebb & flow depending on the various factors going on in our lives. It’s certainly not always easy, And can be a challenge. But again, even with that, once you can figure out a routine there for yourself (perhaps either the 80/20 rule, or swapping with healthier options on things you find harder to stay away from), can help there going forward?! Remember small steps.. It’s overwhelming to overhaul everything at once.
As far as “Mental Health” goes, if you can say that you “seem to be in a good place”, then you’re “definitely” doing something right… So just keep doing more of whatever it is that you are doing, as you continue to navigate the other things that will inevitably come together as well (such as working on a better workout routine & eventually finding a better routine with your food choices)!
It’s good to hear from you and have you check in with us this week. I think it’s also a good thing that you have been more active doing other things too... The better changes in weather are a positive thing. And it enables a better mindset to get out more, do more, and change up our daily routine a bit. But it’s also good that you are still catching up here when able… And I agree that “Cups on Laptop” is definitely a better choice! There’s NO WAY I could do these Check-in threads in my phone!
But above all thanks for checking in to keep us updated and sharing your week with us it’s definitely appreciated. And please continue to let us know how things are going for you.
Ps: (I’m a Pizza person too) 🤦🏻♀️ lol) … all “veggie” of course right?! 😉😂
@PoliteOcean
Hi Ocean,
How did your week go for you?... And what are your plans for this weekend ahead?! Gosh, I've been stressing over starting my new job. I had off from school and work, until my summer semester starts and until my job starts on Monday. I stressed about the hours, but I realized I shouldn't be concerned. My summer semester is only for 8 days, so the schedule won't bother me much. I've also been stressing that I can't do the job, but it is housekeeping. I told myself this morning that I am going to clean some toilets and rooms, what am I stressin' about. lol I was also stressing over the hours starting at 7:30 am, but who cares because I'll go to sleep early, except for those 8 days during my summer semester. It doesn't matter. I'm going to start work on Monday anyway.
I have one day left before I start. I am going to rest and just make sure I'm prepared
🌷 This is our "3RD" Check-in for MAY~... We are already officially "Half-way" through this month... How are things going for you so far & How are you progressing along with any goals or intentions your may have set for yourself this month?! I'm dragging a bit with my intentions. I'm just meeting my goals with Hawaiian language studies. I haven't been putting in any extra efforts. And my job is going to be a physical one so I have slacked off on my work outs. I'll be getting exercise while I work.
I've been sleeping a lot, which has felt great. My cat isn't so appreciative of it though. I'm afraid that my stress has been so high that it's been hard to relax. I did have my groceries delivered twice, though. That took a lot of anxiety off my plate.
🌞 JUST FOR FUN: Name ONE Food that you could Eat at ANY meal?!... Can I say tea? I drink it all the time.
🌷 What were your "Highlights or Struggles" of the week?... How were you able to work through your Challenges in a Healthy Way?! I'm afraid I suffered and wondered how I could deal with my stress. I've been slowly overcoming them. See above for the explanations.
@purpleTree4652
Hey there Tree~
I think it’s totally natural that one would feel some stress or anxieties due to something “new” in their lives… Even if it’s a good thing or a positive change!.. As We are only human…. Do you think perhaps you might be feeling “new job jitters” as oppose to being stressed? Sometimes Many of us (like me), can tend to overthink so many things and scenarios in our minds & thoughts before we’ve even started doing what we are feeling nervous or stressed about?! 🤪….I know I’m Always guilty of doing that to myself!!. Regardless of the situation or how simple of a situation it might be… However, I Love how you got ahead of yourself there a little bit and brought yourself back to The present, by allowing yourself to say “Hey, there’s no reason for me to feel so strongly or so stressed about (xyz) because things will be alright”!…. You gave yourself power & control back of the situation! And that’s a great thing! Keep up the positive work there!
That’s awesome that even though you feel you are dragging a bit with your intentions, that you are also still meeting some of your goals by continuing with your language studies…. And, you are right in the fact that your job will be a physical one and that can totally be a positive experience for you going forward in getting in more movement and activity?!
It’s also a good thing that you allowed yourself time to rest up a bit while having time off… And good for you on finding ways & using help when needed by taking advantage of a delivery service. Thereby reducing any extra stressors. And it’s definitely positive that you are continuing to slowly overcome it.
I think once you are able to get that first day of your new job behind you, & under your belt, that you will feel less stressed & anxious about things... And won’t have to wonder what you’re about to step into. I think sometimes “the not knowing” is what causes excess thoughts, stress, & anxiety! But of course please keep us updated on how everything goes with the new job! And thanks for checking in to share with us this week.
I am doing fine. I am trying to lose 12 pounds in the next 6 weeks. To do this, I will eat less.
@LynnieListens
That’s great for you that you are doing well. And working on your weight loss goals. It’s good that you have a plan in place & that you are working towards to help with that. Please keep us updated on how your progress is going for you. We are here to support you.
Thank you for sharing and checking in this week. Please continue to keep us updated.
@PoliteOcean
Thank you! I am trying to get down to 159 pounds by the end of June. After this, I will have a weekend getaway to celebrate! I will spend time with family, and engage in dining, etc. I am so excited!
@PoliteOcean My week was so uneventful that I don't recall much of it lol. I repaired and replaced the mailbox post and mailbox, fixed a leak in the irrigation system, painted, played music, laughed quite a bit, avoided screens, read more on PTSD and it's affect on socializing. My sleep had been moving back into the good range but had a hiccup mid week. Stress. Oura gave me good readiness and sleep scores this morning so snacks, hang out time, art, laughing and binge watching Netflix helped. Gonna do the same today.
Progress towards goals is on track. A bit of creative stall mid painting but took the high road and worked it out instead of letting it sit. Getting myself motivated to start doing my PT routine again. Gotta keep the foundation strong otherwise pain starts to seep in. Gonna get my guitar out today and start to learn some Bach.
Still using my words and finding relief in just "saying it." Also the fb algorithm linked me to some super high energy victory mindset people and they have carried me through some hard feelings this week and reminded me to be vigilant with my self talk and to keep my self worth unshakeable.
Garfield the Cat fan and will eat my lasagna any which way and whenever/wherever I want.
My struggle for this week was recovering from the big PTSD wave of the last couple weeks. Things are calm. Always takes a couple days to get moving fully as I suffer a bit of flat effect and mild depression after a big episode so it's baby steps and being gentle as I readjust to not being on full alert 24/7.
I trust you all will get to do something different during this next week. Try something different. Go somewhere in your town you've never been or whatever. I tried Kombucha for the first time last week. It's gross but my guts love it and ask "Where have you been all my life?" I got some more Friday. blech....Yay!
@geistbaum71
Hey there~
Despite not recalling much of your week, it definitely sounds like you were quite busy with getting much accomplished! Awesome! 👏🏼
That’s great that your sleep has improved for you in spite of the stress. And that your progress towards your goals are on track! And amazing job to you on keeping up with things and getting yourself motivated to do your PT routine again. As well as doing things you enjoy by Playing your guitar. Keep up the great work you are doing for yourself.
It’s also wonderful that you found help & comfort in like minded people on social media that have helped carry you through some difficult feelings. Sometimes we can find the greatest of help in a complete stranger… It’s wonderful that you were also motivated to keep vigilant through self talk.
Despite your struggles of the week it’s great that you were able to work through them with baby steps and being gentle with yourself. Great job to you there!
As well, great job to you in trying something new. :)
Thank you for checking in to share with us this week and letting us know how things have been going for you. Please continue to keep us updated on how you are doing!
@PoliteOcean my week was hectic for sure, not much me time, so the weekend I got out for s walk, and I got to go dancing and caught up on some much needed sleep 💜🥰
@Amanda84
Hey there Amanda~
Sorry to hear that you had a hectic week, and not much time to put in self care... I think it’s wonderful that you were able to squeeze in some activity time for yourself by getting in a walk & going out to dance! 💃… Also great job at taking care of your needs as well by listening to your body and giving it the rest it needed! Keep up the great work! 😊
And thank you again for sharing your week & checking in with us and letting us know how things are going. Please continue to keep us updated!
@PoliteOcean 💜🥰
