🌞 The past week was well & seemed to go by VERY quickly for having a long holiday weekend in the mix.... Last Saturday I got in my early morning Zumba class to start off the weekend & then afterwards we took a Road-trip North and Did some sight-seeing & a little shopping along the way... On Monday for the Holiday once home, we had a nice little Bbq/Grill to Kick-off the "Unofficial" start of Summer & Memorial Day itself.... Then On Tuesday, we then took a few days and left for the Beach.... It was a nice time to relax & to Re-charge a bit Physically, mentally & emotionally. As it was nice to get away from the regular day-to-day things. And just take in the peace of the Water & Waves~
🌷With the busy-ness & travels over the past week, I did not stay on track the best with meal-plans or tracking.... And that's okay, As it wasn't in my plan to do so... But, I did however Not only do what I set out to do for the week, but still made sure to "meet my step-goals" of each day through mindful movements & got in plenty of "rest & hydration" over the week (even during the travels)...~ But the week's focus was to concentrate more on my Mental wellbeing, which I did... Also, even though my personal goals for May seemed to move a bit more slowly & seemed more challenging than I had hoped or wanted during the month, I actually ended up finishing the month off better than I thought I would!... So I'll take that as a personal 'Win & Achievement"~ I am however ready to stay the course & get back to my Routines for the New month ahead~
🍉 This weekend ahead, Now that I'm back home, Intentions are to save some time on Saturday morning by skipping my Regular workout class & do a home-workout early on instead... As there will be Two separate "Fitness Expos" back-to-back that I want to attend & check-out, so I want to save on time... But I'm always looking to gain more knowledge when it comes to Health, wellness & Fitness. (And "FREE SWAG BAGS" for attending don't hurt either)! 😃 lol... As I always end up with some pretty cool & useful products.~ But I'm looking forwards to the walking involved and getting in all the extra "Steps" while attending.... Movie night & relaxation afterwards, Then get ready for the week ahead & back to the Grind of June~
ENJOY THE WEEKEND~
@PoliteOcean
Thanks, Ocean. I think I'll just wait for the next one. I missed this one completely.
@PoliteOcean
Good morning, happy end of the month!
🌞 I feel pretty okay. The last week of May was a little rough on me. I was on edge all throughout it and was struggling with my inner-self a lot, but I reached the end of the tunnel as they say and now I am starting to feel better haha.
🌷 I feel like May went pretty badly. It was a rough month for me mentally and I struggled to maintain my habits if do anything at all. I was an emotional mess. It felt as though I couldn't breath the whole month. My memory of it is blurry I was hardly aware throughout it, I was mainly having an emotional rumble with myself. For June I would like to focus on maintaining an exercise routine along with listening to my body on the food I eat. I have made significant progress with my emotional eating habit and honestly, It's hardly a habit right now. I don't eat when I feel strong emotions anymore.
🍉I honestly smiled a lot this month and laughed a lot when I was around my brothers. when I spent my mornings with my older brother I used to laugh and smile a lot. My siblings helped me a lot to stay afloat even if I was struggling pretty badly. The time spent with them this month felt like fresh air.
🌞 chilli con carne
🌷 my struggles were mainly a by-product of my anxiety attack I experienced few days into the month and it made it hard for me to function, I couldn't find motivating to do any of my habits or care for myself really. In contrast, my highlights is probably being able to secure a job in the midst of all this turmoil :)
thanks for the check in!
@redBlueberry4283
Hi there~ 👋🏼
And Happy end of the month to you as well :)
That’s great that you are feeling okay despite the last week of May being a little rough for you. It’s wonderful that you are doing & feeling better, made it through, and as you stated “reached the end of your tunnel”!
We are sorry to hear that May was a tough & challenging month for you. It seems you had quite a struggle.. I think it’s great that you are laying out a plan for yourself for the Month of June ahead! And setting some goals for yourself to focus on to take care of yourself and incorporate steps to help manage a healthy lifestyle. And it’s absolutely amazing that you have already made some significant progress in those goals with your emotional eating habits. (As that can be a tough one for many)! Great job to you there and continue to keep up the great work!
It’s awesome that you have family (such as your brothers) who can help in keeping you smiling & laughing! They say laughter is a great “medicine” of sorts for all of us & our wellbeing. And it’s wonderful that they are of help to you during challenging times & when you feel that you are struggling.
Anxiety can definitely be a struggle to deal with and get through, especially without good coping mechanisms to help manage it. And can certainly make it difficult to function or manage self care when it rears its ugly head… But it sounds like you had an amazing highlight to help counteract that by being able to secure a job for yourself during such a stressful time. As that can be hard for many to do when there are mental health challenges standing in the way. So KUDDOS to you on being able to do that! And we wish you much success in your future endeavors!! 😊
We really appreciate you stopping by to check in with us and sharing with us this week. It definitely sounds like you did a great job in battling the challenges & struggles of the month. And coming out on top of it all! Continue to keep up the great work you are doing and please keep us updated on how things are going for you!
@PoliteOcean Here is how the past week went. Going back a week ago on Saturday I watched NASCAR for a couple of hours. Sifa doesn't know how old his grandson Jojo is. Pretty pathetic. Monday was Memorial Day and all the libraries were closed so I gave Gianna the day off. Tuesday Gianna cancelled because she got food poisoning. I had a very important appointment that day. I could tell she felt really guilty. Wednesday I went to the library and for a walk. Thursday I went to the library and had a 30 minute massage for my jaw. I'm still popping my jaw because of anger about being abused by Leslie, her family and the other residents. Friday I went to the library and then for a walk by the marina. I'm reading four books at the same time. I decided to re-read "Letters to Milena" by Franz Kafka again. I decided to start a literature journal. My new room mate John doesn't wear diapers and doesn't snore but he listens to his audio book for 10 hours everyday. I don't watch TV in the living room anymore because of Leslie's granddaughters making noise and CJ watches his Indian channel. Amanda and her daughter Grace were in Australia for a whole week. I don't know how she got the money for that but doesn't have enough money to rent an apartment. For this upcoming week I have a chiropractor appointment on Monday. I hope he doesn't cancel on me. He's cancelled on me 3 times in a two month period. Tuesday I have an appointment to go to the storage unit and retrieve personal items before Leo the Trustee stops making payments. Wednesday I have an appointment for another massage. My prayer life and meditation times are non-existent because John stays in our bedroom all day. My new caretaker Gianna far exceeds that of Tunde. I sent my documentation to my agency two weeks ago and they still haven't received it. I think I have a celebrity friend who is a real celebrity and not a fake. I just hope she doesn't lose interest before I get cured.
@Regmo
Hey Regmo~
It sounds like you had quite a productive week in being able to get out & about for your walks, to the library, getting in your massage time (which I’ve still haven’t made time for yet & still complaining about needing one 😏), as well as starting your literature journal & keeping up with all of your book reading…. That’s quite ALOT of books in the same timeframe! My mom is the same way, she loves her books and is an avid book reader, & can read many at a time… While I can barely hold the “attention span” to get ONE in!.. I got a book for Christmas 2 years ago that I specifically requested and STILL haven’t bothered to get past page 4!! 🤦🏻♀️… That’s too bad that Gianna had to cancel on you. However it’s great that you feel she is working out for you & is far exceeding Tunde. Hopefully you’ll be able to reschedule your appt in a timely manner if you haven’t already done so.. It’s also too bad that you have to endure another roommate... There’s definitely something to be said about having your own privacy when you want & need it. At least it’s a good thing for you that this one doesn’t snore or wear diapers that you have to deal with… But that would certainly be a challenge in having this new one spend that much time in the room when you’d like to have your fair share of personal space as well.. And I can only imagine not being able to use other space in the household when inappropriate people (such as children who shouldn’t be there) are running around & running amuck!… I can also imagine that it’s hard to keep your sanity during those stressors.~ Hmmm… Australia. That can definitely be an expensive trip. So it makes you wonder?!… It sounds like you also have another busy week ahead! But I suppose it can also be helpful & beneficial in simply being able to go to those appointments, (thus getting you out of the house), and away from the household itself! Hopefully you’re able to find some solace during those times away from the others. Thanks for sharing your week with us and letting us know how things have been going. And please continue to keep us updated.~
This is our "5TH & Final" Check-in for MAY~... How do you feel this Month went for you overall in terms of Personal goals, Personal Achievements, in Personal Mental Health Awareness or simply Overall?!... Do you feel like your current routines are helping you to progress, Or would you like to work on something different in the New month ahead? Overall, I feel the month of May, went well for me in all areas. Despite the overly cold, wet, and unusual weather we have been having around here, my overall mental health, has been well. In the upcoming month, I just want to continue with the status quo. I don't think I'm wanting to "work on" or "move forward" in anything. But if it happens, so be it.....
🍉 Today May 31st is "NATIONAL SMILE DAY".... The power & importance of a "Smile" in terms of Healthy Living, is released in increased levels of Serotonin levels, Happier Brains, Stress release, reduced Blood Pressure, Heart-rate & Pain..... And data shows over time that Smiles can Increase productivity & creativity in Workers~.... "'Smiling" can also increase Endurance, Strengthen our immune systems & keep the cells in our bodies Healthy!.... Do you Feel that you Smile "enough" from day to day?..... WHAT is something that made you Smile either Today (or over the past week), & How do you feel it affected you or made you feel Mentally, Emotionally, or Physically?! I'm pretty sure I don't smile as much as I should....I hear that all the time from my co-workers.....my girlfriend, though, makes me smile at home all the time....so....work not so much, home a little more....
🌞 JUST FOR FUN: After a Holiday, can also come plenty of "Left-overs".... What is ONE food that you feel always makes the BEST leftovers?! My favorite "left-overs" don't come from traditional "Holiday" meals or BBQ's.....my favorite left over of all times is shepherds pie....While I love it the first time around, I feel of all foods for left overs, it re-heats the best and tastes the same.....my other favorite left over is pizza, of course.....
Thanks again for engaging my mind with the posts each week.....I hope everyone has a great weekend, week and start to the new month.....@CyclingThroughLife
Hey There Cycling~
Thats great for you that overall the Month of May was well for you. And that your mental health & state of mind was in a good place also, (Even despite the odd weather we’ve had)... As I stated, even here in the south it went back & forth with weather. You never knew what you getting in May?!…
That’s good that you are just wanting to stay where you are & keep things in a good place of “Status quo”. I mean no need to rock a boat by trying to do any more than you have to or need to if you are in a good & stable place in your life & overall wellbeing.
As far as smiling, Yeah I hear that too! From everyone! My whole life!… I had a teacher that particularly called me “Smiley” back in highschool just to make me smile each day. Lol…. I guess it’s definitely something to “chew on” when doing it seems to have so many added benefits?! I can certainly understand not always wanting to smile in the work environment, but it’s wonderful that your girlfriend makes up for that at home!
That’s interesting that you said Shepard pie as your favorite leftover… It’s something I’ve always wanted to try as I personally always thought it looks really good… but never have. My mom turned me off of it as a child stating it “wasn’t good”, so growing up her words always stuck with me?! Maybe one day I’ll give in and try it out. As far as pizza, 🍕 Well I can definitely agree on that account!
Thank you as always for enlightening us with such engaging responses each week. It’s always great to have you stop by and check in with us & share how you are doing.
