World Animal Day is an annual international event celebrating the rights and welfare of animals. On this day, people come together to work to improve the treatment and welfare of animals in the wild and on farms. World Animal Day is designed to remind people around the world to act now to create a better future for animals. Regardless of your nationality, religion or worldview, you can participate in this important day to support animals. World Animal Day is celebrated annually on October 4, and was first observed in Germany on March 24, 1925. It was started by Heinrich Zimmermann, a cynologist, who organized the first celebration at the Sportpalast in Berlin, reportedly attended by over 5,000 people. World Animal Day is celebrated every year on October 4, the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology and animals.

World Animal Day is celebrated in many ways around the world. Therefore, you too can show your love and support for animals in many ways. Here are some ways you can do that:

🐳 Visit a national wildlife refuge, park, or other open space. These protected areas provide habitat for many native wildlife, birds, fish, and plants. Scientists tell us that the best way to protect endangered species is to protect the places where they live.
