The Anchor Within: Nurturing Our Inner Compass

Hi everyone! Today I want to focus on the "Being" dimension of the IDG framework, which is all about our relationship with ourselves. In a fast-paced world that constantly demands our attention, developing our inner life is crucial for staying grounded. This dimension invites us to cultivate deep self-awareness, manage our emotional landscape, and maintain a sense of presence in everything we do. When we connect with our core values, we build an internal compass that helps us navigate external stress and uncertainty without losing our identity. "Being" teaches us the importance of authenticity and mental well-being, reminding us that we cannot effectively care for others or drive change if we neglect our own foundation. It is about learning to sit with our thoughts, understanding our triggers, and showing up with sincerity.

  • What daily practices or habits help you stay connected to your inner self and maintain your peace during stressful times?
  • How has developing greater self-awareness changed the way you react to unexpected challenges or difficult conversations in your life?

@sarakind

Prayer keeps me grounded

Exercise.

Family.

Carving time in my time to spend time doing something I love.

To balance my day with fun and work.

To not always be critical but constructive 🥰

What daily practices or habits help you stay connected to your inner self and maintain your peace during stressful times?

Sketching, Drawing, Calligraphy, Walking into the woods, Exercising, Gardening, Praying, Reading self-help books.

How has developing greater self-awareness changed the way you react to unexpected challenges or difficult conversations in your life?

Self-Discovery has benefitted me in realizing that not every situation requires my reaction or attention. Especially, if it is draining my energy or causing me mental stress or any physical ailment. Stress is the leading cause of every illness a human being has to deal with. I do my best to lead a stress-free life.

  • What daily practices or habits help you stay connected to your inner self and maintain your peace during stressful times? Prayer and gratitude - And for me this is about doing it with sincerity and being honest about own blind spots. For example, if you ask for more patience then there you go you'll face people who test your patience! And how you manage this will tell you what you are still to work on.
  • How has developing greater self-awareness changed the way you react to unexpected challenges or difficult conversations in your life? It helps me to know its not personal! It allows me to pause.

I try and practice both meditation and journaling as often as I can, if not daily. I find meditation clears my mind when it is too busy, and journaling helps to put my thoughts into words and be able to see them physically on a piece of paper. I find this to be incredibly grounding
