The final wisdom tooth pity party and updates
Hey there, getting my last tooth out in like 12 hours! I'm scared, especially since I strained my sinuses and now my ears and throat sting. My brother Is also sick right now so I'm terrified of catching it. I will be whining a lot in this thread in true post wisdom tooth cat fashion. So grab some muffins and let's get this pity party going 🥳

@sadcat13 I guess it's gotta come out sooner or later. I was (I think) 33 yrs old when I finally got my wisdom 🦷 pulled. 😂🤣 I think most people get theirs removed before 20. Anyway, hope your nerves settle before your appointment. Are you stocked with your yummy soft foods to eat after your appointment?

@YourCaringConfidant damn, I can feel your pain 😭 my mom got hers out in her late 40s/early 50s and it was very complicated and she didn't take it well. I've been fishing them out one by one for like two years now and I'm so ready for this to be over 😅
Sadly not really ready with food as I have ARFID (eating disorder where you are extremely picky for your own specific reasons like sensory aversions, fear of aversive consequences or no interest in food mine being the first two) so I'm genuinely stuck trying to chew tiny pieces of bread on like day 1. While I get potatoes and some other cooked veggies ocassionally, It's just a race between my swelling, antibiotics and just gagging the second i even see one of the few foods I'm surviving on after surgery. So it's extremely unpleasant 😢 but glad this will be the last time
@sadcat13 Awwwwww, I can't imagine. I'm glad you have your safe foods though that you can tolerate. And yayyy for this being the last time. You can get through this. I'm rooting for you and that your appointment goes well and you recover soon after.

@YourCaringConfidant yessss for now, the surgery went well. Currently being very exhausted due to the swelling and pain but taking it slow, one step at a time. Even had a little nap now between meds

Ugh, so glad I got mine out all at once. It was rough but it was in patient and a huge hassle (plus cost)

@AffyAvo it's definitely a good idea to get them out all at once. I genuinely wish I would have done two at once at least. Been fishing them out one by one for like 2 years now during the cold months and not having a good time 😢 I sadly don't like smoothies, and 2 out of 3 times my antibiotics didn't allow for dairy or sour things. So curious how will it goes this time
@sadcat13 I think we may have discussed smoothies before? Or maybe it was someone else? You can just blend the fruit, add a bit of water or juice if it's thick. No dairy needed and you could throw in vegan protein powder, a nut butter, etc too. The trick would be the sour restriction, figuring out what fruit is ok.
I probably wouldn't have done mine all at once if I didn't have to be in-patient. Definitely feeling for you experiencing it multiple times!
@AffyAvo I don't think it was me, the most I'm willing to do is orange juice 😊 but it definitely seems like an idea I could try, as I never considered milkless smoothies before 😊
@sadcat13 If it's a texture thing, extra thick and smoothie bowl? Or banana split but frozen blended fruit instead of ice cream.

I don’t know how to support you right now, haha. I myself have to go for a root canal 😭 They also said that if they can’t save my tooth, they might have to remove it. I’m really terrified and keep avoiding the check-up.

Is the process painful 😣? 
@Ailuraphilelove8tear9 The work before I got the permanent one wasn't bad and didn't hurt. The dentist put a temporary crown in and that wasn't bad. But she seemed to be in a hurry to get the temporary one off and broke part of the tooth 😬 It hurt when she cemented the permanent one in. But she did it without any novacaine and acted like I was overreacting when I said it hurt 😕 That's my dentist though and hopefully your's is better and more sympathetic ❤️

@sadcat13 It was tbh. The worst experience was when she did a filling without novacaine. She said it was just a small cavity and it would take longer for the novacaine to work than it would to fill the tooth. I told her the next time she says that we'll wait for the novacaine to work 😅
@mytwistedsoul that´s so bad. I´m so sorry you had to go through such a bad experience. Also that´s peak bs, my dental anesthesia always kicks in in like 2 mins? Even just the small ones for cavities, so stand up for the treatment you need 🌻 Hope you didn´t have such an uncomfortable experience again 🌻
@sadcat13 Yeah that won't happen again. I think a lot of the problem is that she has too much going on. She was looking to save a few minutes 😅 She has a lot of people come to this office but is only open some of the days. The other days she's at her other office a few towns over.

I used to take any spots tho, but... idk why do i even did something that, when i realised it, godd... the embarassment😭. the wild part is, i shared it with one of my friend... she created a gl scenario. 😭 now it became as regret of my life 😭.

I really hate hospital environments, especially the smell. The moment I get anywhere near one, I start shivering and feeling anxious 😭
And guess what? I’ve had a toothache for the past 3–4 months and I’ve still been ignoring it 😅 It’s more than just fear… it’s the discomfort 🤧 Eww!
I also can’t stand the thought of someone looking so closely at my face 😂 I might crack up for no reason! 😂
@Ailuraphilelove8tear9 I can see why, dental stuff is really not fun. But please don't neglect it because it will just get worse. I personally keep my eyes closed during the appointment to avoid a staredown lol

@mytwistedsoul great choice, the blueberry ones are really good 😊 yessss. I got the same antibiotics again, but only for 7 days this time. So should be okay hopefully. I'm waiting to take the third dose now and then go to Dreamland 😁 but for now, this is probably the most calm and least painful one out of all I had before. My cheek is swollen and it hurts to swallow, but I had problems barely surviving till next pain meds time all 3 times before. Today I only took second dose like 2-3 hours after I could have, only because I have a bit of a fever (37.5ish) and wanted to give my body some inflammation support. God is really giving me special mercy this time 😊
@sadcat13 I love blueberry muffins! 😊 I'm glad this one isn't as painful as the others. It's a shock to the system having things like this done. An ice pack might help with the swelling? I hope your fever is gone now and you're feeling better ❤️
@mytwistedsoul thank you 😊 I'm using a wet tissue that cools me gently since last time I used an ice pack I was just running around with it like it grew to me after a small oven burn lol. And then when I took it off my hand wasn't really appreciating it and made me realise I overdid it a little (luckily no frostbite or anything but still) 😂 so using the handkerchief to have it cooled a bit less intensively but I can have it on my face the entire day if i want 😁
You’re supposed to put something between your skin and the ice pack… Just sayin hehe

@mytwistedsoul yesss, on it! Just took painkillers for the night, and my entire throat is burning up from the mint taste. And getting ready to deal with the antibiotics in like two hours. I don't know how I will make it for 5 more days like this 😭

I unfortunately face planted a rock face descending the Col De Galibier during a cycle race in France when i was just 20, I lost a few, broke many and have been dentally challenged ever since 😊😊

What teeth ?
I had all the remnants of the top ones extracted 3 years ago, had them rebuilt 3 times over the years but wasn't enough left. I still struggle to eat and talk with my gnashers in, if I hadn't face planted the rock I'd of gone over the edge which would probably of been worse, just a 'racing incident' a chap a few lengths in front lost control and 6 of us went down behind an nowhere else we could go.
I'm fine about, I wouldn't change a minute of my cycle racing days 😁😁😁

Update: the surgery went well. We fished out the tooth in pieces as one of the roots was wavy, but thanks to that I avoided having to deal with the uncomfortable pulling all out at once feelings. For the first time, my anesthetic lasted till I came home (and even a bit longer)
It's completely incomparable to the other bottom tooth or even the top ones where I was in tears on my way to the pharmacy already.
I got the same antibiotics I got last time, but can stop taking them now In 7 days as they made me throw up on day 10 last time. But despite that, they are still the ones I had the least trouble with when it came to pill swallowing.
I am already swollen and a bruise is coming up, but cooling my cheek with a wet fabric handkerchief. I do have a bit of a fever (last time we checked I had 37.5) but I didn't need a second painkiller despite all 3 times my first day was barely crawling to the next dose time. This time, I get to take it 2-3 hours after the minimum wait time, and even then mostly because of the inflammation and swelling it helps with rather than pain. God is giving me a lot of mercy, and I'm so grateful for every minute that passes towards healing without being in excruciating pain like the times before ❤️
Waiting for my night antibiotics dose and then I will be going to bed. Will keep you all updated how I'm doing. Thank you for supporting me on this journey 🌻
