[Old] ATTENTION: Important Notice about Leadership Roles and Graduation Requirements!!

As you proceed through the leadership development track, you will discover we have several paths you can follow. We offer roles in three domains: Engagement, Quality, and Safety

Engagement is all about getting people together through activities intended to promote participation, sharing and bonding. This domain is the biggest of the three, and it encompasses these areas:

- Group support (member chatrooms)
- Listener support (listener chatrooms)
- Subcommunity
- Forum
- Teen
- Internship

Quality consists of a number of different parts or variables. At the highest level, we think of quality as the person receiving what they were hoping to receive. When a person has quality experiences, they are more likely to feel safe, valued, and experience personal growth. We have several projects dedicated to the ongoing improvement of listener quality.

You can start your path by becoming a Verified Listener, which is a prerequisite for most leadership roles and authenticates you as a peer approved quality listener. The next highly recommended step is to take the Active Listening tests to demonstrate your understanding of listening here on 7 Cups! Our quality leaders are passionate contributors, who are well versed in the site. You could make a big impact in the community by joining a quality project (or if you have an idea for a new initiative, please connect with @EvelyneRose, our Quality Specialist)!

Safety covers what is needed to keep the site safe! We offer leadership positions on-site, and behind the scenes! Do you want to be involved in safety efforts?

Safety Patrol --> Safety Patrol Outreach Team
Behind The Scenes -- This is a form to indicate your interest in behind the scenes quality projects on 7cups. These projects usually involve safety aspects of the site, or possibly outreach.

Note: Quality and Safety tend to go hand-in-hand, so dont be confused if you see any of these programs/teams being referred to interchangeably!

-

⭐ In order to complete the Leadership Development Course, you must have moved into at least one leadership role. ⭐ This means you must be in at least an entry-level role, examples being Peer Supporter, Forum Supporter, or Room Supporter. This is to ensure that you succeed as a leader by the end of it!

-

This all sounds well and good, but where do you start, right? I have compiled some basic entry-level activities, so you can get a feel for how these domains work. Learn by doing, and have fun doing it! I have organized them into a 3-week checklist. You can do these in any order you would like, and if you dont have any interest in a certain area, you can skip it. However, I do recommend you try everything so you can experiment with different components of the site!

Week 1 -

✅ Introduce yourself in LSR
Read the Chat Support FAQ linked in the Chatroom Rules
Feedback: what did you learn while in LSR?

✅ Spend time in support rooms / join a discussion and see how they are led
Feedback: How do you like them? What appeals to you most? Is there anything you would see changed?

✅ Participate in 3 Sharing Circles
✅ Get 10 group member (Group Support) chats or listener (Listener Group) chats

Week 2 -

✅ Join Safety and Knowledge, Site Updates and 2+ subcommunites of your choosing
✅ Post and reply to others in 3 Key Things!
✅ Make 15 posts
✅ Reply to 20 posts
✅ Welcome 5 newbies in any of the welcome subforums

Week 3 -

✅ Apply to take the mock chat and become a verified listener
✅ Take at least one Active Listening Course
✅ Request a listener coach

When in doubt, refer back to the slide deck of roles, or ask the community! That's what we're here for!

I will have a team dashboard for you all soon to help you track your progress!

In the meantime, have fun!!

@Heather225 i joined a group discussion on Eating Disorders and busting myths

my feedback: I liked the discussion. what i liked the most was how the host (@24Help1) carried out the session engaging us and being compassionate. Also i liked how the discussion helped me learn many new things and refresh my knowledge on eating disorders. If you ask me what i would like to be changed.....well...i wish there was more participants. However the session was still great

@positivePumpkin22

You can definitely help make an impact on that front! Consistent weekly discussions mean moreparticipants eventually as they know they can expect to be in one at the schedule time.
